All of this over a metal cover of Chill Penguin's theme. Id probably really like the band if they were instrumental and kept it fast and cheesy like boss battle music.

Yeah, pretty much this, but don't forget the ones about shining dreams and whatnot.

I occasionally enjoy Sonic Firestorm for its unabashed, over-the-top cheesiness, but everything after that is kinda lame. I'm most curious to hear what the new singer sounds like. I don't recall enjoying his audition very much.

I'll check this out just because of the new singer. They got stale after the first couple of albums.

Sonic Firestorm is their best. Lets see if they can move in the right direction.

Music aside, that cover art sucks ass. Hate it when bands go super bland like that. Then again, only Sonic Firestorm had cool artwork.

I thought the artwork for Valley of the Damned worked pretty well.

Stay out of my mind!

But yeah, I can't say I'm too inclined to care about this though I may check out a sample or two as they come. Hopefully the singer change has done something for their songwriting though I can't say I'm expecting much.

This is sort of there last chance album for me. Ultra Beatdown was disappointing and grew old fast. I'm mostly just checking this out for the new vocalist (I never really cared for ZP).

Valley of the damned had some good songs. Also, Soldiers of the Wasteland from Sonic Firestorm is awesome. They kind of hit the wall after that though. Maybe they'll actually bother to write a song or two this time around.

I haven't listened to DragonForce in a long time, but when I did listen to them I actually found it hilariously fun. Sure, they're not writing emotional journeys that satisfy the soul, but shit, they're DragonForce. They have an album called "Ultra Beatdown". People who don't like them for being over the top and cheesy don't understand why the exist in the first place, or at least that seems to be the usual case.

That said, I can't get over how lame that cover is. Especially the "DF". Looks like something a 13 year old would draw. Considering it's the central focus of the image, that's pretty awful.

EDIT: Really shit line work as well. Readily apparent even from the small image; more apparent when its enlarged. Thats a really bad photoshop job to improve something that isn't really salvageable.

It reminds me the cover art of ''Inhuman Rampage'' (my favorite album of them) It seems that it will be a good album, and i hope so.

First new song, Fallen World, is out.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k2Ous2ov ... r_embedded

New singer is weaker than ZP IMO. The rest of the band is still the same shit. What do you guys think?

Well that sounded like Dragonforce. Surprisingly short song by their standards.

EDIT: I cannot believe that this was my 1000th post.

What can I say, the song was kind of, well, fun to listen to and they kept it short enough and devoid of wankery (by their standards) for it to be alright. Surprisingly, I also thought the solo section was pretty cool for what it is. That being said, I wasn't entirely sold on the vocals; the new guy does have an alright voice, but I can't really say he sounds powerful here - the chorus didn't have any impact on me, which is kind of bad, because this band's appeal (for me) has been that they're fun and instantly accessible. This? I don't think I'll want to listen to it several times just so it could potentially grow on me.

I will check out the album, but I am kind of "meh" about it at this moment. We will see.

Well, it is shorter than usual which is much better, but it's just not really that catchy to me nor does it do anything for me. I'll pass.

Well I didn't hate it, but I didn't particularly like it either. There were some ideas here and there that I would have liked more if explored. As it stands, it is rather unmemorable and boring.

Well they'll certainly appeal to more people with the new guy perhaps...he doesn't have the 80s glam-isms of ZP, but then again, I thought ZP had a much more distinctive voice and that he owned every track he sang on - just great performances. This new guy is solid but doesn't really rise above the rest of it like ZP did. Nice shorter song length though. Hope all the songs are of similar lengths this time.

Yep. It's Dragonforce, OK. It sounds pretty much like every other song they've ever written, but... whoa, it's less than five minutes? Awesome! At least they kept it short. Plus, I like Marc Hudson a more than Zippy - yeah, he's not as distinctive, but Zippy's incredibly over the top voice got on my nerves quickly. But it's still the same wankery and nonsensical lyrics. Same old shit. Next.

By the way, here's my bets on how many times these words will appear on the new album.

Fire/flames: 20
Sword: 18
"So far away": 12
Tears/cry: 15
Wings: 10

It sounds good, but maybe i'm accustomed to ZP vocals. Normal vocals, (neither fine nor bad) but great music, it's more of the same, and i like it.

Eh, the new singer is by no means bad, but nothing that makes him stand out from any average Power Metal band. So far it sounds like this is going to be Ultra Beatdown with alt. vocalist. Its rather disappointing, I was hoping the new member would help spark some creativity.

I made it 1:30 into the new song. It is incredibly average by their standards. This is really how they want to build suspense for the new album? Plus, the song's intro sounds exactly like a dozen other Dragonforce songs, I swear, it is always the same.

I actually really like the song. Personally I think that even though it sounds similar there is still a difference outside of having a different singer. It's got one of their best and most concise solo sections, and it's quite catchy. But I'll reserve judgment for when the album comes out.

Lol totally.

Also, I stopped listening to Behemoth for this? The new song was pretty mediocre, even by Dragonforce standards.

Sonic Firestorm is awesome.

This new song is weak. How can anyone make power metal this bland? It's power metal! The melodies are supposed to get stuck in my head for several years and make me want to sing along to the chorus as loud as I can even in public places when nobody else is listening to the song but me.

I can't remember one thing about this song and it literally just finished playing.

Lost Souls In Endless Time, this is not. :(

Valley Of The Damned and Sonic Firestorm are 2 of my favourite power metal albums ever, but this is incredibly weak. One of the least memorable songs I've heard in a dog's age, in any genre.

Overall this sounds better than that awful album "Ultra Beatdown", and the new singer is pretty good, but this is far from the stuff on the Sonic Firestorm album. That album was so fresh back when it came out, and I really liked these guys a lot back then. But unfortunately it seems like after that album the band ran out of ideas. Plus it didn't help that all the Guitar-Hero nerds playing that shitty video game starting liking them.

I'd hit the new singer haha

naw, seriously, I sort of like them. They're a fun silly band, not to take seriously, they do not deserve the amount of shit they get.

When this comes out, I'd probably just listen to the 1-2 stand out-ish tracks for a couple of days and then forget about the rest.

I don't care what any of you say, I liked it. It wasn't ground breaking, it won't be on in my top of the year, but it's a fun, fast paced, ultra melodic song that's catchy right off the bat.

I thought the joke about Dragonforce overusing certain words was played out years ago. Nice to see it's still around, those are funny.

Anyway, I'm a huge power metal fan but Dragonforce just doesn't do it for me, and this new song is just more of the same. I'm actually a little disappointed, as they were saying how this was gonna be a great new direction for them. Oh well, I can always check out the new Cellador EP instead.

That song was really, really average. Its not even about being groundbreaking; there's just nothing that stands out about it. And the new singer isnt as strong as ZP. I really enjoyed Ultra Beatdown; I didnt make it all the way through that song.
