Yeah, I know it's not REALLY considered "metal," but something about this gives me chills. Can anyone give me some songs that are basically acoustic, but are, well, folkish? I can't really give a good description, so I apologize. Here's some examples, these are EXACTLY what I want.

Skythrone- Valhalla

Skythrone-The Last Great March

Finntroll-Rok

You may enjoy Wongraven (Side project from Satyricon's Satyr)

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mMXC-VnrSQs

You should also check out some of Burzum's work on Dauði Baldrs and Hliðskjálf (Basically jus MIDI tracks, but holds some charm in it's minimalism)

Also you might like this little gem

Thank you very much for the recommendations. But, I guess what I'm trying to look for, is more, "viking oriented" ambiance, but more focused on the acoustic guitars. You can throw in some folk instruments while you're at it. Mournful, dreary and sadness is basically what I'm looking for, not much into the "dark" sounding stuff. Though, I do thank you for the Forest rec, that just made my day.

On second thought, I just listened to Wongraven's Tiden Er En Stenlagt Grav, THAT is what I'm looking for!

This might help, not ambient at first listen but this is one of the best albums for just dissolving into if you get what I mean.

Fejd - Storm
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qkWs6eIHnSI

Also, this may not be exactly what you are looking for...but I just can't help but include them in any discussion of ambient folk, they are just too damn good.

Wardruna - Hagal
