Hello, I want to record something into a DAW (in this case Reaper) using my MIDI keyboard. I know it's something pretty easy but the thing is that I want to use my keyboard's sound bank when recording, and all I could get is the general MIDI sounds Reaper uses if I simply start playing and without any VST.
maybe if I look harder through the program I could find the solution but I'm very short of time in these days so I would REALLY appreciate if someone could help me.
thanks

If you want to use the sounds on your keyboard you want to record audio, not MIDI. Do you have some sort of interface or a soundcard with input jacks?

Yeah, MIDI uses the sound library of the program you are using, if you want a particular sound off of your keyboard, you're going to have to use an external mic.

Yes I have an interface.
I thought that it was possible to record MIDI information with my keyboard's sound bank, since MIDI can be operated freely inside the pc.

MIDI is a set of instructions - which instrument type to use, what note to play, and at what time to play the note. The MIDI output sends the information before it gets to the sound bank.

You can find countless free VSTs by googling "free VST", it really depends on what you're looking for. I'm not really familiar with them.
