I enjoyed both the past Kreator albums along with the old. So I have high hopes for this album as well. I also really like the artwork would be interested in getting the 7" but ouch 10 euros postage to UK.

I'll always have a soft spot for Kreator so I'm eagerly awaiting this one, even though some of their last albums, although not actually that bad, were a bit of a let-down.

I wouldn't say they're in their prime, as i feel nothing will ever come close to Coma of Souls. Be that as it may, I do love every record since VR. I think it's the more melodic sound that alienates many of the fans of the 80s material. I think it suites them. I like the fact that they have evolved into the 21st century Kreator. I wouldn't expect or want them to record a "Pleasure to Kill" ten times over.

Agreed. Their turnaround since Endorama is worthy of congratulations on my behalf. Strangely enough, I think both that album and Outcast have had an impact on Kreator's more melodic sensibilities. Forget that "sounds like Gothenburg" nonsense, Mille's affinity for The Sisters of Mercy and similar acts is what crept into the music. Pleasure to Kill was an important album for its time and place but it hasn't aged QUITE as well as when I first heard it and those songs were always better live anyway; just a little more control and tightness really went a long way on the faster sections. They made sure they weren't interested in doing another album like that following it. Really, Hordes of Chaos is probably the close they'll ever come since most of that was live in the studio.

Damn, that's some great artwork. Benscoter and Justin Osbourne have done some solid work recently. A bit of a breather from the more typical Photoshopped artwork of the times. I've got a good feeling that the songs will match that viciousness.

Quite possibly the most dubious album title since 'Laser Holocaust'.

I don't like Enemy of God (aside from the title track) because it's very melodic, and I don't generally like melodic-sounding metal. My favorite Kreator album far and away is Pleasure To Kill. I personally wish it wasn't an anomaly in the band's catalogue as far as extremity goes.

I didn't like the solos on PTK (they sounded too forced, unlike Slayer's solos which were more natural), but the riffs and aggression were ungodly on that one.

Now how about an actual song. Art is nice, but let's hear it!

The melody on Enemy of God which you cited as your reason for disliking it is exactly why I think it's so good. It's an immensely powerful work. Hordes of Chaos is just sloppy and annoying.

The melody alone is not my problem with it, hell I even admit that the melody thing actually works in the song Voices of The Dead...the real problem is pretty much everything else, because most of the songs follow this same insipid formula of first having mid paced chugging riffs (which would sound good if not for the slick-ass production job, at least Hordes of Chaos sounds even somewhat organic) then melodic chorus and then somewhere in the ending half there's some random fast part trying to be kickass or something but the riffs...yeah where are the fucking RIFFS? This stuff is just completely PUSSIFIED. It's soft, lame and flat out BORING. This is exactly the type of toned down whiffle ball "thrash" that made bands like Testament and Sacred Reich "famous"...it wasn't good then and it's certainly not good now.

Cover looks like a cross between Earth A.D. and Ed Repka.

Officially added the album to the archives with the tracklisting. I don't have the individual songlengths but the total runtime should be about 45 and a half minutes. For those who want to see it here, it's as follows:

1. Mars Mantra
2. Phantom Antichrist
3. Death to the World
4. From Flood into Fire
5. Civilization Collapse
6. United in Hate
7. The Few, The Proud, The Broken
8. Your Heaven - My Hell
9. Victory Will Come
10. Until Our Paths Cross Again

According to one of band's forummembers, Mille had said there would be 12-14 songs total so there may be some bonus tracks that haven't been made known yet.

That's way better than the other artwork/album cover (red, etc.). This should be the cover.

Gotta admit, I am a huge Kreator fanboy. I love all of their albums. I really enjoyed Hordes Of Chaos and I'm looking forward to this one. This is one of my most anticipated releases of 2012 for sure.

The woman/horses/snakes at the bottom of the special edition artwork is stupid, but otherwise it is a better cover then what they actually used.

Well I mean, Kreator has never been, ironically so, that kreative when it comes to covers.

Obvious political/go-green lyrics that sound like late 80's Metallica...yeah, I don't hear any of that in modern Kreator.

Ha, that special edition cover is lame as shit. The title clashes pretty badly with the rest of it now, the sword looks really awkward (seems like the artist was barely able to fit it in the picture), the HAND holding the sword is different from the other hand on the ground, and THAT arm is just mangled to shit. Everything at the bottom of the damn image doesn't really seem to have any real relation to what's supposedly going on. All those women and snakes and other beasties seem like they're just pasted in to fill space (though really, that thing is so cluttered that there's barely any space to speak of). The weird firestorm/tsunami/explosion(?) is also lacking depth, making it just look kind of awkward.

EDIT: Having the really straight, prominent sword right above the logo also aint working too well.

I really don't understand how any thrash fan can dislike Hordes Of Chaos, unless of course you're the pompous, Myspace-only Wrest type who only tolerates the most necro-sounding(recorded at home in mono) thrash available. If you're generally into thrash metal and Kreator, there's is plenty to like about HoC, aside from the usual serpentine leads and hyperspeed riffs there are a ton of interesting dynamics and melodies and of course an unabated level of aggression even with the relatively slick production(compared to PtK and such). On top of it all, it has staying power despite being catchy as fuck. Makes almost all retro-thrash imaginable sound completely irrelevant.

What makes me HATE 'Hordes of chaos' are the fucking terrible vocals, same as new Slayer. If you can't scream anymore DON'T DO IT, stick to a tone you can maintain without sounding forced, weak and incredibly annoying.

Because Hordes of Chaos is crap. It's mostly just irritating and sloppy, without actually having the good riffs that make their older sloppy material awesome.

Small sample, nice riffs and the production is miles better than the last one

Shit! I don't wanna get my hopes up too high just yet, but those riffs were great and Mille even sounded good! Fingers crossed that they're making... Who knows what number comeback this is, but hey!

Hmm the sample didn't interest me. Not a fan of the melo-death influence. Then again I haven't liked the last 2 albums from them anyway.

Same here. I found the clean production and riffing to be quite a letdown. ''Enemy of God'' is still a kick ass song however.

If Kreator managed to write a whole album worth of songs like that one, THEN I would dare to say that they're back. Also, is Mille's voice as age-worn as I think?
