a lot of titles and tracks need to be changed to Japanese spelling.
Sources are here:
http://www.compozila.co.jp/iron/disco_a.htm

I'll take care of this one. I'll just report the main titles as needed (too low of a rank to change them myself)

Questions. The site lists all the titles in Japanese, but the albums covers, both there and here on MA, are in English. Which do we use? Also, the album credits list some members in Japanese, while some are listed in English. Do we follow suite, or do we leave them with the English names they've already got here on MA?

http://www.metal-archives.com/bands/Furthest_Krueger/3540285821

There are four members in this band, two of whom use English-translated stagenames, and two that use Japanese characters. The names are listed on the band photo, but the two with Japanese characters can't be made out.
Found translations for new band members on MySpace. Still one (now previous) member in the photograph with a Japanese character for a stagename.

In the same vein, http://www.metal-archives.com/bands/Can ... 3540290698 has a photo showing the band member's stagenames in some forgien character I don't regocnize. All the artist profiles for the band are combinations of symbols.

Also, there are a few Japanese bands with some messed up members in the V1 legacy lineup:

I got a reply
http://www.metal-archives.com/albums/Al ... 27r/229462
the label does not have the information on the Arabic transcription ... apparently only the band has.

Was the label helpful enough to provide a means of contact to the band?

according to them it had been forwarded to the band ... whether they will post a report or send me a mail will have to be seen. I thought it still worth to post here, because other bands from the Middle East have their album titles changed already.

What's the problem about this? I can probably get someone to fix it.

The album cover lists the title in Arabic, but our title is just the translated version. No one can seem ot find the original Arabic title

Are you sure that they are listed in Arabic? I've got someone to translate them right away.

EDIT: In fact the titles are listed with the lyrics. I'll get to update that.

Didn't even notice that. I meant the overall album title itself.

Should keep that friend of yours chained to a leash for instant Arabic translation/transcription... it'd be a useful asset for the site. ;)

(just kidding) Good job.

EDIT: Although, I'm not finding any Google results for the album (or anything related to the band) for the album's title... that to be expected?

I did find this, though. One letter was, uhm, slightly different to the spelling in the album title... Google translate threw up the same result, though.

The translation is 100% accurate. I don't have any idea if the tracks on the album's cover are in Arabic or not but for sure if you click the lyrics you can see that the name of each of the song is on the top of the lyrics. I assume that they used the Arabic titles on the cover. In all cases on the front cover the title of the album is in Arabic. One more thing if you read the album titles/tracks of the other release by the band they are also in Arabic but I don't have any idea if they are written like that or with the Arabic alphabet on the real CD. Maybe someone should contact the label to check that.

EDIT: I've checked that well the letter written on MA is the correct one. Don't worry about that the translation is 100% accurate.

Which written letter are you referring to? I modified the album title's to match the one I found that I thought was "correct", but I changed it back to yours after I noticed the 'correct' one didn't match what was included on the page I linked to above... Arabic is weird...

Don't change them before contacting the label. If you read the current titles you read them the same way as they are written in Arabic. So probably the band used the titles that are already added to MA and not the Arabic letters. In fact tracks 1, 6, 8, 9 of the 2010 release are also in Arabic so this is quite confusing and you can't be sure what letters they used.

EDIT: Just keep my update it's 100% accurate.

the second part "םד" as a Dalet and Final Mem
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hebrew_alphabet
When you look at the depiction on the Wikipedia page, the you will recognize that there is some kind of resemblance.

any comment?

It is "Ha-Shatan Dam" (השטן דם), but on the cover it is written left-to-right instead of right-to-left for whatever reason...

EDIT: By the way, here I found the photo of the cover:
http://img43.imageshack.us/img43/6893/t ... ddemo2.jpg
As you see, it says "Satan Blood", plus everywhere on the web it is listed under this title, so it seems to be the official title and should be listed this way (especially considering that the band is not from Israel, and Hebrew on the cover wasn't written in proper manner, perhaps it was meant to add some "occult" weirdness).

EDIT2: I've closed the report and added a note.

I was able to fix the tracks, but the album mentioned in additional notes still contains two mojibakes at the beginning.

Can someone with a good understanding of Ukranian/Russian add the original song and album names' of Thunderkraft's The Banner Of Victory? Their sophomore has that info in both languages so it would be cool to have the same on their debut.

Here's the back cover of the album with the original title and song names in both Cyrillic and English.

:D Nah seriously, the script I wrote for correcting HTML entities is making it laughably easy to sweep through song titles...

sorry for the typo. one of the problems I tend to have when switching from German to English. ... but the script is quite nice indeed ... Can you fix Thai with it as well?

Hahahah, nah it's okay mate, I just thought it sounded funny. :D

Thai HTML entities? Sure. Thai mojibakes? Nope. The script's doing one thing, and it's doing one thing well: turning shit like "й" into "й". ;)

EDIT: Couple of Polish tracks that need correcting here:
http://www.metal-archives.com/albums/Na ... ield/53233

Couple of mojibakes at the bottom of the list.

These lyrics need to be Czeched:
http://www.metal-archives.com/albums/Vi ... 3%AD/65330

... hurr hurr, I so funnae. But yeah, the titles/lyrics of the other releases probably contain mojibaked characters too. As always, swap the characters in the left column with the ones in the right:
Code:
È Č
è č
ø ř
ì ě
ù ů
® Ž
ï ď

Check out Walpurgis_'s edits to the album data. It seems that every time he edits a lyric, the additional notes get "mojibaked" and he then has to fix that.

I also noticed that the HTML entities list for band notes was picking up any band that happened to have "#1234" and then a semicolon after spaces or line breaks. E.g.:
Solus wrote:
Fanzine #2 with song; "Nightspirit".

It was obviously misconstruing "#2 with song;" as a HTML entity... Strange that there were only two pages left in the list that were doing that.

(Doomsday, did you go through and change the semicolons for every page...? )

A few german mojibakes in lyrics for the songs Ásatrú and Keltenschanze:
http://www.metal-archives.com/albums/Slartibartfass/Nebelheim/167544
I corrected quite a few, but my german (even combined with google translate) is just not good enough for the remaining ones...

Azmodes, do you want that we go by the book:
http://www.duden.de/rechtschreibregeln/ ... eibung#K86

Quote:
Regel 86:

I have seen that Schandmaul has some typos in the titles again ... maybe this aspect should be explained in the rules.

http://www.metal-archives.com/bands/Foliant/113155

So it is obvious by the logo that the band's name is not correctly listed. Using the HTML entities in the alternate spelling field (Фолиант), Google offers up a translation, but it doesn't match up with said logo. Anyone got the actual translation?
