So was my package one of the delayed ones? I'm getting slightly concerned about customs hangups/my postman failing to leave a delivery attempt notification if not.

I hope Ireland's post isn't as iffy as Canada's. A month or two ago, they fumbled a rare CD that I had ordered from a distributor an hour's drive from me. An acquaintance of mine put it nicely when he said that with Canada Post, you kind of have to be prepared for the possibility that your order will "vanish into the ether" between point A and B.

So before Noktorn updated us with the news that life got in the way, I was getting kinda concerned, but his news of delay lifted my spirits quite a bit, because it meant that Canada Post wasn't being a crap after all, if mine was one of the delayed ones.

Yes, it was, sorry for the delay. Like all other delayed packages, I'll include a few bonus albums to make up for the wait at no additional charge.

Unfortunately, I also have to take the time to warn any potential buyers about possible postal tampering which is going on with outgoing packages. I recently sent a large package of about 50 albums to a user of the forum whose name I can't recall just now (he's a reliable and long-time trader here, though, so I trust him implicitly,) and upon arrival, the buyer discovered that about a third of the albums were missing entirely or had their discs removed. The box was not obviously tampered with, which suggests to me that it was a postal employee who stole from the package, as they are the most likely ones to have packing tape and other supplies on hand to remove evidence of tampering. This has never happened to me or the buyer before, and needless to say, I'm incredibly pissed off about it for all the obvious reasons. Unfortunately, I don't know if the tampering occurred on my end of the postal system or his, but the lack of issues reported with any other packages I've sent suggests to me that it was on his end (West Palm Beach, FL, for those who might need to know.)

Within the next few days I'm going to refund that buyer for the portion of the purchase that was stolen, but unfortunately, I have to let everyone else who might buy from me know that I won't be able to do that in the event of any more tampering or theft. I'm just giving everyone fair warning: though I made an exception for this instance simply because it was so unusual, I cannot bear any responsibility for what might happen to your package after it leaves my hands. With that in mind, if you've EVER had issues with postal tampering or theft of any kind with packages you've received in the past and want to purchase items from me, I HIGHLY recommend that you purchase return receipt service or something similar, which greatly reduces the chance of an unscrupulous postal employee trying to tamper with your package. It goes without saying that any suspicions of tampering or theft should be reported to the proper authorities, as in the US, tampering with US mail is a federal offense, and it would certainly bring a smile to my face to see people like the human garbage who stole from my buyer (and by extension, me) put up against the wall.

I hate having to say this and I really don't want to screw anyone, but for your safety and mine, please be sure that your post office is honest and legitimate. If not, it's very worth it to spend the extra cash on a more secure form of shipping. As you can probably also understand, this event has given me more than a little pause when it comes to mailing out more packages if there's a risk they might be broken into; while I don't think that my post office was the one responsible, I'd prefer to wait a bit and make sure everything is on the up and up before putting more purchases at risk. Thanks for your understanding, and I sincerely hope that this is a one-time event.

EDIT: If anyone would like confirmation that this happened, the buyer sent several pictures of the box and the aftermath of the theft. I'd be happy to post them for anyone who would like reassurance that I'm not simply trying to scam anyone.

That's fine, just making sure. I moved house recently so I don't really know how things work in this postal district, I was just getting paranoid that the package had been return to sender'd. I've had quite a few parcels delivered here without problem, I was just afraid that I'd been out when it came or something. Let me know when the package is sent and I'm happy!



Nah, not usually. I've had literally hundreds of parcels in the last few years, from a variety of sources including individuals like SharpandSlender (in fact I've gotten a large package from his distro in the past without issue). Number of lost packages is exactly two, and I don't think one of those was even sent in the first place. I'm just being slightly paranoid here because as I said earlier in this post, I don't really know my new postman that well yet.
