No it's not! There is nothing "cool" about mammoths or elephants or dolphins or monkey's.
Especially not the magmatic varieties....

Mammoth can refer to the animal but it also stands for something of large size. Maybe you should check your English before posting, here's a small help.

Anyway this is going to be great, cool concept and track listing, great album cover, and Van Drunen stating that it's going to be their darkest album in a long time. Oh dear it's going to be a pretty hefty start of 2012!

i would find it really cool if they would reunite with their old guitarist and played some gigs were they would play very early material live.

No that was more in response to nothing being as good as Malleus Maleficarum.

a interview with meneer bob the drummer: http://www.lordsofmetal.nl/showintervie ... 61&lang=en

he describes every track.
As The Magma Mammoth Rises apparently is asphyx going bathory. This sounds very interesting.

This is death metal you bastards!

Deathhammer...bow down to the Deathhammer...

Um, yeah. Can't wait for this! Something extremely special between Van Drunen and Baayens. I'm beginning to love Asphyx, being fairly new to them. I already love Hail Of Bullets. This title track has some subtle inklings of 'Ordered Eastward' to it...and what could be better than more Hail Of Bullets? Perhaps this album? It's interesting how this band gets so much power from some of their thrashy-styled old-school riffs. They are so good they do simple well and don't rely on their sound as much as other bands do.

Interestingly, I just learned that Hail Of Bullets will release an album in December 2012. YES! http://www.metalstorm.net/events/new_releases.php?upcoming=1

Actually Bob Bagchus also writes a lot of stuff. Asphyx is really a collaborative effort of all members.

That's cool to know. I only wish I had found them (Asphyx) sooner than last year. So, the background info is great to hear from those who know the band well.

Incredibly open to interpretation, fantastic work. Time to see what else this guy has done.
Really looking forward to this release, that Asphyx/Hooded Menace split is top notch.

Yeah, think I'll have to pick up both the vinyl and the 2CD Mediabook...So excited to get this release in my hands. And of course the cover art is awesome. Glad to see they're still working with Axel Hermann, who has done the majority of their artwork over the years, and who always brings a distinct atmosphere to the overall package. Also, I see they used the same studio and producer who worked with them on most of their classics, so this promises to be completely legendary!

It should be leaking within the next few days, which is a great chance for me to get all of my masturbating done before I make a mess on the physical copy.

Has there been any mention of them working on a new one, even if just in writing mode? I'd presume they'll be getting something going fairly soon since Asphyx only does select dates and festivals anymore and therefore wouldn't keep Van Drunen out of the mix for too long and Thanatos is pretty much on the backburner.

"This is true death metal you bastards!!!" How can anyone not love that?

There's been word of mouth that HOB will release a new album this year, but nothing definitive of course. That songs rips so damn much! The album is very very good and I have to say is one of their best yet, it will definitely cause an impression. ;)

You and me both, ha! I've actually talked with Gebedi for a couple of minutes at the end of a Bolt Thrower show, and commended him for the great show he gave along with the rest with HOB that afternoon, and then went on to say something like "So Asphyx in 2010, HOB in 2011, now you only need to bring Thanatos in 2012!" He laughed a bit and went on to tell me how no one would want to see his band, as they're "too underground". I still screamed nonsense but he wasn't convinced, which was a shame.

In a few days this'll be released, and just for company I went to check out the Asphyx albums I never heard. The self-titled, while a tad longer than it needs to be, is getting a lot of plays tonight. Holy hell! The riffs! Death... TBW was also one that I never checked out, and for what? I don't know.

Now it's a toss up between God Cries and / or On the Wings of Inferno. Both are rarely praised on this site, and both look bland as fuck by the cover arts.

I though Death...The Brutal Way sounded a lot like Hail Of Bullets. Not that I mind, I've always liked them more than Asphyx. This new song sounds kick ass.

You guys, "As the Magma Mammoth Rises" is fucking massive. Holy shit. The main riff certainly sounds like something I - that black / heavy supergroup - would have written.
