I'm not sure if there is a thread for this kind of stuff already, maybe this will start one up.
I picked this up yesterday at a shop I go too pretty often kind of a thrift shop of sorts, used LP's,cd's,dvd's,audio equip.,etc.
I could'nt believe he only wanted $5 for it.

I've cleaned it up quite a bit.

5$ for any electrical appliance is a hell of a deal, even if it's broken, because you can use parts from it to repair another appliance. A working one though? That's practically free. Hope it's good quality.

funnily enough, i was looking on ebay yesterday at gramophones, can get nice replicas for really cheap there. not sure why i looked them up, but i guess the vintage look is pretty appealing. :)

You will probably have to buy a new needle though? Sounds like shit with a worn out needle.

You should always replace the needle after buying a used player.

This TT was made in the late 70's,this is actually the second one of these that I own.
The strobe bulb is burnt out and it's missing one of the counterweights, but for $5,I can't complain.

Holy hell, this is a very nice find and bargain! I paid 50 bucks for my turn table, and it's not even as good as this one! But then again mine is in full working condition, and it had almost brand new needle :) Lucky man!

Nice indeed. I can attest to the power of garage sales/flea markets myself, but to get a vintage in such good shape for so little is quite the deal.

Flea Markets are amazing. I've gotten plenty of good vinyls there for less than 5 dollars each. Usually all great condition too.
Knowing a guy who buys things cheap is even better, as I've gotten over 30 records from a friend for free. Mostly all original pressings, and all in good to mint condition. He even gave me a record player for free, including speakers. :nods:

I like this thread idea, interesting to see what kind of things people get for cheap.

was just about to say the same thing. Never use a beat-up old needle. Your vinyl will regret it.

I have purchased some vinyl there too a couple years back when this place first opened, a real nice copy of Celtic Frost- Morbid Tales, with the lyric poster and merch. order form still in the shrink.
I also found a copy of Salems Wych-Betrayer of kings still in the shrinkwrap, paid $3.95 each for them.
The owner hired someone to organize and price the vinyl, since then and prices have gone up considerably, but you can still find a good deal once in a while.

there's more to it than just fitting a new needle, your local audiophile guy or record store etc will be able to do it or at least point you in the right direction.

i get my needles etc from here, there's a stockist not far from me
