Any body see certain texts spread out a lot? I went to the Mekong Delta page and saw that all the "ex-" portions were one above the other instead of side-by-side. I'm using firefox and the same resolution. This morning there wasn't a problem.

Gack!

I blame Alhadis. :p He posted a CSS fix with regards to long band names, and I applied it quickly without testing other pages. Reverted while I sort it out.

Edit: should be OK now.

This may be a stupid question but how do you edit the band photo and logo on a band's page?

Eh yeah, sorry. :oh shit: Normally I'm very thorough with testing CSS fixes, but this time I was a bit lax... Won't happen again, I promise. ;)

Morri, the ticket for that fix has been updated; I noticed that links for split releases are being pushed off onto their own lines now, too.

Just on the front page; if you'll check the current Latest Reviews, you'll see the Mayhem/Meads of Asphodel split has each band name broken onto different lines.

No real biggie though. :)

I added Danny G. to this release, but when I want to add him to the line-up of the band, then I am unable to find him. How come?

Also the line-up on Epoch's page still needs to be updated in such a way.

Because of the bug I reported, all the artists added today don't appear in the search, it's not the 1st time it happens and something has to be restarted if I remember correctly

Band Antestor: http://i40.tinypic.com/2hx4tvp.jpg

Also look at this: http://i41.tinypic.com/34dg3r6.jpg the member started playing guitars and bass then he played guitars, bass and vocals and now he is playing guitars and vocals only. Could you find me a solution to illustrate that without using slashes, because I can't find any. Also if I add 2004 next to the bass it will show (2004-present) although he is not playing bass anymore. So basically I can't add 2004 if I don't know the date when he stopped playing bass.

I would suggest to be able to add multiple labels on albums and band pages. I suppose this is kind off an important update to do.

This is not important but I would also like to suggest if it will be possible to add sub-tracks to albums example track1 is divided into 3 parts to be able to add them under it.

Fetus is spelled "foetus" in International English.

MalignantThrone is right. Though since "Fetus" appears to be gaining prevalence as the preferred spelling these days, it's only too likely that you haven't encountered the traditional spelling until now.

Preferences aside, I still spell "foetus" the way I was taught to, and many other users probably do too. So if somebody searches for "Aborted Foetus", the results should turn up "Aborted Fetus" since it's essentially the same name under a different spelling.

Blame America for the confusion.

Would it be possible in the instrument field to have an option that blocks "foreign" words.

I mean, while updating a band I saw a guy (Leoncioburton) who added new members with instruments in spanish (bateria, bajo, voz)..

With such an option, people who enter non-english names would see a red warning (like with the slashes) saying they must use english names

You could create this for main instruments (vocals, guitars, bass, drums, keyboards, synths, flute etc) in the mostly used languages (spanish, italian, german, french, portuguese) though I noticed those are added mainly by spanish speaking users

When an artist is dead, and is in the last known lineup of an active band, it's listed as "year-present".

For example, here's what David Gold's page looks like now that he's died:

Quote:
The Northern Ontario Black Metal Preservation Society

As Veillko:
Vocals, Bass, Guitars, Drums
2010 Future Northern Prosperity (EP) Vocals, Guitar, Bass, Drums

Woods of Ypres

Guitars, Vocals (lead) (2002-present)
2002 Against the Seasons: Cold Winter Songs from the Dead Summer Heat (EP) Drums...

I think this should be changed, since regardless of whether or not the band splits up, or continues on and he's considered a past member, dead people are never "presently" playing with any of their bands.

It makes sense for a deceased artist to be listed in the last-known line-up of a band that split up following the artist's death.

That being said, it's not always clear if a band is going to continue recording after losing a main member. Case-in-point, Woods of Ypres might announce their decision to continue on without David - at which point he can safely be moved to the "Past Members" section. Conversely, if they announce the band's demise, it'd make sense for Dave to remain in the last known line-up.

Again, I get this, but while the band sits in limbo deciding what to do it's a bit of an eyesore.

Do you really expect things to be easy following somebody's death? It's a fairly natural situation.

Well, true. And I suppose an official statement will come from one of the other members sooner or later.

Disregard the complaint above - time to try to be patient. :oh shit:

Regarding the artist indexing, the problem is caused by a rare and difficult bug in the Solr indexing engine itself. We've tried to increase a setting in the Solr config that might help with that but we don't know how much it will help yet. It's very frustrating because the error we get in the logs is not that helpful and a Google search reveals few results of other people with similar problems... :\ I just hope the config adjustment will be good enough.

Not a bad idea. I'll file an issue. I'll need a list of the most commonly used foreign keywords though.

Erm, could you guys loosen your grip a bit on miscellaneous roles for album lineups? It's a bit weird that we can't add contributions such as CD layout and liner notes now, since those two things have just as much to do with the album as the photography does.

On an interesting note for the artist indexing, I just ran into the problem for the first time. The artist that i had just created did not show up on the search, but showed up on the search for merging duplicate artists page.
