Should be:
"Depressive Black Metal (early), Post-Black Metal (later)"

http://www.metal-archives.com/report/view/id/349112
http://www.metal-archives.com/report/view/id/348445

Feel free to debate the first, but it's clear that the second is accurate:

That about them. :)

Seems reasonable based on the clips (and others I found on Youtube). Besides, I don't hear any doom. Changed.

Something about that band name really makes me blank it out in my mind. I guess I confused the dots with the ones appearing when an URL's too long.

Please for the band http://www.metal-archives.com/bands/Huldra/3540337152 re-modify the genre to Atmospheric Sludge/Post-Hardcore, post-metal does not refer to any special thing it can be used to describe a large variety of different genres. Same goes for post-black metal it's often black metal/post-rock or black metal/shoegaze.

http://www.metal-archives.com/bands/EndName/3540288591 Progressive Sludge/Doom Metal

http://www.metal-archives.com/bands/Sea ... 3540337768 I am not quite familiar with this but why the "Post" tag? I suppose Black Metal is enough.

Demoniac (Indonesia):

http://www.metal-archives.com/bands/Demoniac/3540301067

They cite their style as "Progressive Death Metal", and after hearing a track on YouTube, I have to say I agree.

Jig-Ai:
http://www.metal-archives.com/bands/Jig-Ai/63996

"Death Metal/Grindcore" is a bit misleading. These guys sound more like, say, Cock and Ball Torture than bands like Assück and Nasum. Very groovy riffs.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ppj7dDEi ... re=related
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=g-UMjFnx ... re=related
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C5e6wknWt3Q

I think "Goregrind" or "Death Metal/Goregrind" would be a lot more fitting, no?

*shakes head* Sorry, but this wouldn't be the first time Mitochondrian are being brought up. To my ears, they're a fusion of black and death, a bit experimental and atmospheric, but not enough to warrant stapling it to the genre. I'd say it's fine just to leave it the way it is.

"Sludge Metal"?

What?

I still disagree with this. This sounds nothing like Eyehategod or the like. It sounds like Fugazi Metal.

Was Witcher who changed the genre anyway I still agree that sludge should be included to any new description.

Unfortunately this thread does not get enough attention there is many changes to be done regarding genres.

Earth:
http://www.metal-archives.com/bands/Earth/10278

This band needs a near-total genre overhaul. They started as drone/doom:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ymEyzO5W4Rc
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qf648bEn ... re=related
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8WqL6BV0 ... re=related
And then they became a mix of stoner rock and some more experimental Western-influenced pieces:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xXo1G1sxrB4
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WrclNyck6HY
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vNgN5QO_8oI
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qcLic3qg-90

So maybe "Drone/Doom Metal (early), Drone/Experimental Rock (later)"?

What genre description would you suggest? I agree that it's more of a metalpunk/post-hardcore(?) hybrid than any form of sludge. Not really that much, if any, doom influence in the music. Tricky to pinpoint for me.

Well I submitted the band under Sludge Metal/Punk/Hardcore I wasn't sure how to tag it either, posted that in the add notes too. I do listen to the band sometimes and can't find a clear description about their sound but metal enough, they are. Metalpunk, yes but this is not a valid description on MA beside I don't hear a post-hardcore influence I suppose hardcore is enough but it's not that predominant to be added to the genre tag. Would still insist to add sludge to the genre. Sludge Metal/Crossover/Hardcore Punk maybe.

Sub Level is not changed yet, beside Silura should be definitely changed I have the CD and it's no way near dark metal it's clearly a folk/pagan metal band. For the black metal band with that long name, you can listen to a track here: http://witchinghour.pl/web_new/zespoly/seagulls

http://www.metal-archives.com/bands/Las ... 3540333142 should add deathcore to the description I would personally tag the band as progressive deathcore

I've changed it back to your original genre tag.

Whoops, forgot to hit "save".

I'm neither that familiar with the definition of dark metal nor the whole post-black metal spiel, so I thought I'd leave those to someone else.

EDIT: Added "deathcore" to Lassie the Cat's genre, but don't agree with removing the "death metal" part.

Lunattick Fringe: http://www.metal-archives.com/bands/Lun ... inge/41222
Currently labeled as "power metal" - should be "thrash metal", as there's almost no melodic singing and the riffs are thrashy. Their 3-song 1988 demo has some heavy/power leanings, but their 8-song tape "Unearthed" is primarily thrash metal. Some of the tracks from that release are on YouTube, I've heard the whole thing but I haven't added it yet, as I'm waiting to hear back from a member of the band to confirm the track listing.

Examples:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RVRfJX4_0Cc
http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=pl ... b6eM#t=44s (song starts at 44s, after a sample)

Hey Derigin, could I get a reason why you marked my Trom report closed? I didn't think my proposal to change experimental rock to deathrock was so unreasonable to get ignored for over a month and then closed without a single word.

The example I gave is rather representative of their sound.

Bizarro: http://www.metal-archives.com/bands/Bizarro/11711

Later material was mallcore, as evidenced by the report.

I made a mistake with Shadow of the Torturer (http://www.metal-archives.com/bands/Sha ... 3540293338). I requested to have them labeled death/doom when in reality they're just doom. The more I listen to their album, the more I realize this. They incorporate elements from every subgenre of doom including sludge, death, trad and maybe a bit of drone but not enough from each to labeled as just one of them. Example:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5T3Zs2JRr8k

Sorry for the mistake.

Apparently the band http://www.metal-archives.com/bands/Rin ... 3540338883 used to play mallcore http://www.soundclick.com/bands/default ... dID=177236 probably this is why they got blacklisted. The genre should be modified Mallcore (early)

http://www.metal-archives.com/bands/Tem ... 3540338841 should be removed predominantly not metal - http://www.cdbaby.com/cd/tempusfugitandbobbymidni

http://www.metal-archives.com/bands/Kreep/83542 should probably be removed but if you consider it metal enough then the genre should be changed to something like Industrial Groove Metal - http://www.manic-records.com/releases.htm

http://www.metal-archives.com/bands/Siluria/3540336546 genre should be changed from dark metal to folk/pagan metal you can check the tracks from the EP at the following links:

Meh, I thought they had only the one 7'' out and it sounded just about metal enough for me. That compilation casts a whole new light on them indeed. Deleted.

The first two releases are not enough, but could be their 2009 album sounds more metal.

Then you could delete them, for sure. The 2009 release was added by PiotrB, I'm quite sure he found it on cdbaby at this periode of time he used to check cdbaby and since the band was already here then he added the album. The band was added by spider_x based on the other releases as you can see if you look to the dates. I still remember this periode of time witcher was away and christkiller used to accept every single band added by spider_x not to mention that christkiller did too many error regarding accepting bands.

Found their myspace with 6 tracks from their 2009 release: http://www.myspace.com/kreep/music/song ... t-72337301 I've listened to more metallic tracks by Marauder anyway you can judge them now. At least the genre tag should be fixed. I'll say they are predominantly on the NYHC/brutal mallcore side.

I've deleted them.

I think that Ring of Fire(USA) should have their genre changed from progressive metal to progressive power metal. I say this because when you listen to their albums, especially the first two (The Oracle and Dreamtower) there are a lot of power metal songs.

Some examples:

Still to modify: Siluria, SeagullsInsane and Swans DeceasedMiningOut theVoid (more probably the post- tag should be removed).

New modifications:
http://www.metal-archives.com/bands/Jucifer/3540295344 they clearly does not play only sludge metal.
http://www.metal-archives.com/bands/God_Damn/3540276055 from stoner metal to southern metal

Examples:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=pl ... b6eM#t=44s (song starts at 44s, after a sample)

I agree. This stuff is awesome thrash, a bit like Morbid Saint! changed.

Thanks! One more related band: MSW is currently listed as "speed metal", they're much better described as "thrash metal". The final lineup of this band was 4/5 of Lunattick Fringe, so the style is quite similar.

Arghoslent's (http://www.metal-archives.com/bands/Arghoslent/3195) genre should be changed to melodic death metal as that is what they actually play. Their early pre-GTtBR material is death metal but since then they've become increasingly melodic. Here is some of their newer stuff:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7fxFRS4d9O0

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EhBimOAaZ8Y

Their genre tag should look like "Death Metal (early), Melodic Death Metal (now)". Thanks.

That's not right. That's not even wrong. It's so fundamentally inaccurate that I think it may well be incorrectable.

I've asked for Arghoslent's genre to be changed to melodic death metal on several occasions and it has always been ignored. For some reason which is beyond me the staff must consider them plain death metal.

Almost every Arghoslent fan denies what they actually are sound-wise. Most likely out of fear of them getting lumped in with In Flames and the Gothenburg scene thus reducing their kvlt cred.
