Blood is fucking amazing. I only have Christbait and O Agios Pethane, but those two are just vicious. I still need to find myself a copy of Impulse to Destroy, though.

Impulse To Destroy is probably my favorite out of their discography, but that's not saying that the rest of their stuff isn't awesome. I still haven't heard their latest album, though. By the way, the song "Sodomize The Weak" on O Agios Pethane has a main riff so heavy it could probably swallow a star. Like, fo' rull.

Anyone else think Disgrace to the Corpse of Sid by Sore Throat is an extremely terrifying album? It sounds like a god damn car crash. Hopefully the singer for my grindcore band would be willing to do something like that. Insane noisegrind sounds like something that can be really fun to play.

I wanted them to play their cover of Burning in Hell soooooo bad when they were here... no dice, Chris pretty much said "We'll never play that song." They did play Couch Slouch though. One of the best sets I've ever seen.

Is this the show they did in Atlanta? A friendly acquaintance of mine said he got to do vocals for "Roll Call" (he's known Chris for years though), I'm so mad I ended up missing that show. Olio, that is probably my favorite hardcore album ever, good to hear you bought it! If you're into Despise You, look into the Scottish band Shank. I get the same sort of vibe from their music as I do DY, maybe not as "fuck everything, we're all gonna go to shit if we haven't already" as they are, but still...shit rips hard.

It is indeed. They killed it... the mics were cutting a lot which sucked but it didn't even matter... I have the set list at home, I think it's like 30 songs. I need to scan it in or something. Their drummer was un.fucking.real.

Absolutely, and I'm glad I'm not the only one who felt this way upon hearing it. Bands like Anaal Nathrakh or Infester doesn't even come close to matching how batshit scary that album is.

I had only heard Unhindered By Talent and a couple of 7"s they did, and had my first go 'round with this particular album today. Definitely a lot...uh, darker? It's definitely different from what I was used to with Sore Throat, I like it a lot so far. Especially the slower stuff on the record.

I'm sure they've already been mentioned, as they are just so glorious (can't be bothered to read through 44 pages), but BRUJERIA.

That's largely debatable; although I've always considered them grindcore, as they are closer to the grindcore realm than they are to death metal. Granted, I only own Matando Güeros and haven't heard their other stuff.

Late reply but I checked out the The Curse of Shank compilation and it is indeed ripping. On first listen, they seemed to me to have notable metal edge to their music, like Despise You. I've only listened to it through my shitty laptop speakers so far, but I look forward to a more clear listening when I can play it through my less shitty sounds systems.

That Possessed cover is bloody awesome, too bad they wouldn't play it live. Although nice bonus with 'Couch Slouch'.

Definitely check out Christbait sometime, too. Fantastic death/grind. Has Alex Schulze of Naked Whipper on vocals too, if that means anything to you.

Tried for this last night. It should be noted that you have to be an American citizen. :P

I thought free international postage was quite generous.

Naked Whipper was basically early 90's black/death/grind in the style of Blasphemy. If you're into that sort of stuff, you'll definitely like NW.

So I've had This Comp Kills Fascists Vol 1 for a while, and recently picked up Brutality In Seconds. These, particularly the latter, have shown me loads of new bands, are there any other similar compilations you guys can recommend?

There's a comp called Grind Yer Head In, 99 songs, pure awesomeness.

Crush Your Canadian Idols is a good one. Pan del Muerte Recs is about to put out a 10" comp called "Mustache Mincers" that looks killer as well. Hair on my Food and Tapes just put out the "What the Hell is a Jiggawatt" comp which is a good'n too.

Also, Sore Throat, Nausea, and Headache blog has a good podcast compilation series going. Tons of killer bands well worth checking out. http://www.mixcloud.com/PeteTheRipper/

Can't remember if they've been discussed...anybody listen to Knelt Rote? I spun their album "Insignificance" yesterday, shit is fucking awesome. Just relentless, evil, bestial grind, and that vocalist of theirs just ups the intensity every time he opens his mouth.

Their first album is supposed to be more noise/power electronics oriented, though I haven't listened to it yet. But "Insignificance" just flat out rules.

Haha I kept shouting for Roll Call and when they finally played it I yelled my brains out.

Seeing them in Brooklyn was dope beyond words. Super nice dudes (and dudette) played all I needed, I can die happy now. Hope they make it over to the east coast more. Sounded great and they looked like they were having a blast as well

Enabler's awesome, I'll be sure to check this out.

I'll do some shameless promotion while I'm at it.

If any of you ever followed Chainsaw Justice, I'm back with another blog Perpetual Strife. Not limited to any genre (although I do happen upon Grind/PV a lot) ya'll should give it a look (and feel free to send me submissions).

Anybody else heard Noistalgia? Has the guitar/drums from Soilwork, the vocalist from Aborted and Devin Townsend on bass and producing it. A mix that perhaps doesn't scream good grindcore, but they've made it work, I got their debut Bent Sea and it's great stuff.

Wait... Devin Townsend playing bass in a grindcore band? I'll have to check this out later when I'm not at work.

Listening to Bent Sea's tracks on youtube, the vocals sound like Engineering the Dead era Aborted and if he tried to do his best to stay away from lower sounds (and they suck too). Overall the band sounds as if Soilwork wanted to play grindcore; overproduced and lifeless. Just riding the big names.

Saw that coming about a mile away.

edit* If anyone hasn't checked out Powercup's "Renovate at All Costs" i suggest you rectify that immediately. Ridiculously good for such a goofy premise (renovation themed grindcore). Highly recommended.
