Have you heard his old project, Parlamentarisk Sodomi? Not trippy or anything, but fucking awesome grind. Just get anything with the PxSx name on it.

Parlamentarisk Sodomi rule. I'll have to check out Psudoku now. I had no idea they were behind it.

To Live A Lie is down because the dude was I guess getting a little burnt out and wanted to take a break before all the Christmas orders came in. It should be up almost any day now.

I wanna throw Cowabunga! onto that list as well. Picked up the Insect Warfare/F.I.D. split (WITH the magazine, mind you) from there last week. Maybe not the biggest selection, but still a quality place worth looking into for all things fast.

Are you asking in terms of how many bands may populate the genre, or it's overall appeal to extreme music listeners? I'd say about the same for either.

Just found out Patrick Stump of Fall Out Boy fame did the guest vocals on this Weekend Nachos song. Blew my mind.

Doesn't really seem that far fetched. Andy Hurley was involved with quite a few old metalcore bands like Racetraitor, Killtheslavemaster, and I think Vegan Reich. Pretty sure Patrick was involved in some short-lived grind bands.

Yeah, I know all of the guys in Fall Out Boy have roots in metal or hardcore in some form or another. Didn't expect Patrick to guest on a grind song though. Looking at the lyrics in "Jock Powerviolence" though, they make perfect sense - Fall Out Boy get a lot of flack for "betraying their roots".

Now it all makes sense. I always wondered why people kept writing shit like "PatrickXStump" on the Nachos's Last.fm. Can't say I really give a shit either way. The song in question is still probably my favorite from the new album.

Hello everybody! Just dropped in to say Death Toll 80k's debut album called Harsh Realities is fucking amazing. One of the best records ever and you must check it out, if you like grindcore in any form. Sounds like a mix of Napalm Death and Terrorizer to me, with punchy and awesome riffs, crazy drumming and insane vocalwork.

If you guys already have heard it, well good for you.

Yeah, no stranger to Death Toll 80K, I'd go as far to say that it's probably the best grind album of 2011 thus far.

I need to get that album. I've heard most of it on YouTube and it fucking rules so hard. As far as best grind album of 2011, I have to give my vote to Robocop II.

EDIT: Maruta are breaking up. :|

Does anyone else view Harsh Realities as pretty straight forward World Extermination worship? Not that that's a bad thing.

Also, I've not been able to get into Maruta. Granted I've only heard Forward Into Regression and while it's not bad, it hasn't yet won me over fully.

Certainly not. Vocals are definitely similar though Insect Warfare is superior in that regard. Both albums are great but I prefer the former since it has catchier riffs.

Gotta agree, Both bands have been around about the same amount of time and DT80K was writing shit in that vein before World Extermination came out. Both are killer bands!!

Just to clarify, I was replying to the statement of World Extermination worship not being a bad thing when I said "certainly not" but I also agree that Insect Warfare's style isn't original by any of the stretch of the imagination. It's definitely old school grind. Never knew Death Toll 80K were around before Insect Warfare though.

I'm gonna be starting up a project soon that does that style of grind, but with a lot more influence from early Swans. Kinda like if Napalm Death wrote more songs like "Evolved As One" or "Multinational Corporations", but a bit different.

I listened to the DT80k record like 10 times in the last 24 hours...super awesome, great guitar tone, great riffs, great energy, great vocs, great everything. Love the production as well, with the guitars up front.

I know I asked this once, hopefully you fellas canhelp me out. I'm looking for some gritty grindcore that has speed metal influences. If you ever heard Machetzo's Ace of Spades cover, that's exactly what I'm looking for. Think bands like Inepsy and Midnight gone grind.

Thanks

Ah, I didn't realise that they started writing before World Extermination was released, kinda kills my worship theory a bit. I still maintain that both albums listen in quite the same manner, perhaps with Insect Warfare's effort being a bit more chaotic.

Hope we hear more from DT80K; I need to hear more grind that follows this vein.

I'd like to hear more, but I hope they follow their previous direction of releasing only drabs of really damned good material. Insect Warfare-style grind gets old real fast when you have too much being dropped on you at once.

Was just about to edit that post with their bandcamp, so you might want to check that out too. Has tracks from their upcoming 7", and they're absolutely kicking my ass.

Any Blood (Ger) fans? I've been listening to their first three albums pretty consistently for the past week and a half or so, and they're quickly climbing the ranks in my book again. Not your typical style of grind (or death/grind, or grind at all at times), but most of the stuff on the debut and O Agios Pethane is either outright vicious or heavy as fuck. I kind of think of them in the same vein as I would a band like Fallen Christ.
