My ex used to listen to Disturbed and I couldn't stand it. What's up with the animal noises the lead singer makes? Shit is incredibly annoying.

They were my "gateway" metal band also. First album I ever bought was ten thousand fists... Can't say i still like that kinda music, but that album is almost nostalgic to me now.
I used to own their first 3 CDs. Always hated that first album they did.
Believe wasn't too bad, and I still occasionally listen to some tunes off of 10,000 fists... I'm gonna get so crucified for admitting this

In all honesty, I find some songs fairly decent. The singer is definitely good, especially compared with the rest of terrible nu metal vocalists.

Personally I never liked them, to be honest. Most of their albums had maybe two to three decent songs on there, but the rest of the album sucked.

Ten Thousand Fists, Indestructible and Asylum are listenable modern hard rock albums, if only kinda monotone. And I really like David Draiman's voice. He's catchy.

Ten Thousand Fists has some nice groovy tracks on it. When I find them on the radio I'll listen to it.

Disturbed is either too heavy for hard rock or too light for heavy metal. No one is satisfied.

This guy's right. Everyone knows that Metal Archives doesn't have an off topic board. Come on now.

I've never liked Disturbed very much. I liked the song 'stupify' about 10 years ago when I was in middle school. Don't like anything now. They seem very generic to me.

Yes, because once someone becomes a metal fan, anything that isn't "heavy" automatically becomes shit. I honestly feel pity for anyone with such a mindset.

I hated this band at first. The first time I heard them, it was the song stricken. It was just so bland and watered down. I couldn't recall anything after hearing it. For a band that is called Disturbed, I expected something, you know, disturbed, crazy, wild etc..

Later the band had warmed up to them as a decent metal influenced hard rock band. I've heard the entire discography, since my sister turned out to be a huge fan. They're really consistent (probably too much) and David Draimen is a pretty good singer, I'll give them that. However, I rather just listen to somethin' else.

Every song sounds the same, and it's not a good song in the first place. Down with the sickness was okay the first time I heard it,so I guess I can give them that.

I don't know about you, but last time I checked the forums, this was the off-topic board. (I know what you mean though.)

Nope. I listen to almost everything. This is about people you have just described. But I personally don't like that "heavy rock" genre that they seem to fit into. Listening to it with a hard rock mindset makes it too intense, and with a metal mindset, it's too soft. As far as heavy rock goes, it's not a very innovative or creative album at all.

I listen to them from time to time and have done since Believe first came out. They seem to have some excellent songs mixed in with a lot of boring ones though.

I'm not a fan. The last song I've heard from them is Another Way to Die on the radio and it sounds more like a parody of nu metal than anything else, but as far as I can tell they're actually serious.

I quite enjoy Disturbed. Take it that I'm picky with some of their material but for the most part I like them a whole lot.

Always hated them with a passion. I know a small percent of people around here and in the general metal community are all right with them, but it usually seems to be out of nostalgia. I've never been able to understand their appeal though. Personally, I might even put them near the bottom of a "worst bands of the last ten years" list.

I've always enjoyed their stuff. It's always been fun to drum to and just to listen to in general.

I find them a pretty decent act. They weren't my gateway to metal by any means (I listen metal since late 80's), but they are probably one of the very few acceptable nu metal bands out there. The singer is fairly good and there are some songs that are enjoyable, like Remember.

I think the lead singer has an amazing voice, I just wish he could use it for better use. I actually don't mind Disturbed at all, I saw them live several years ago and they put on a really good show. The Sickness is probably one of my favorite nu metal albums.

A great alternative metal band. I was already into mainstream metal with Korn, Limp Bizkit, Kittie, Slipknot (another band that blew me away at the time). Their singer help them stand out a lot and one of the main reasons why they survived the Second Wave of Alt. Metal (nu-metal) in the early 2000's. Those were some good times. Being a somewhat disgruntled teen who disliked society but wasn't exactly sure why.

A great, solid hard rock band and, as has been said before, leagues above the pile of shit they álways get lumped in with! Putting on some TTF right now!

Believe and Ten thousand fists were alright. I think the singer was much better when he actually sang instead of making them weird grunting sounds. The song "Darkness" is his best vocal performance, in my opinion. Indestructible was ok, but their last album I thought sucked big time.
