Say what you will about Lich King's music, they're one of the few I see actually have fun on Facebook.

In my defense, I said that because I have yet to really listen to you all that much. I saw you live and you completely kicked ass but I still haven't heard your studio work. I'm just saying you've got a personality that's rather visible to outsiders and that doesn't seem to be commonplace nowadays.

Songs sound great, but you know what I'm not hearing? David's insanely high pitched "eeeeeeeeeeeeeaaaaaaaaaaaaa" scream. That makes me a sad panda. :(

This is awesome! Vocals sound much better on this than on Black Future (and they sounded amazing there as well). Can't wait to hear some more shrieking, though! Also, production sounds great.

Edit: Okay, wrote this before hearing the last minute of Dark Creations, Dead Creators, and HOLY FUCK that's amazing.

I didnt even realize that they have posted any songs online. They sound fantastic. I cannot wait to hear more.

The new Exmortus c-d was good but it definitely is a huge departure from their debut. Vocals are completely different. They have a more generic sound now but they still play it well. Its just not what I originally liked about them.

Vocals have really improved. I like how the chorus of Dying World has a bit of a tune to it, though still really screechy (not a bad thing of course).

Also, there's much, MUCH more bass presence now, which is never a bad thing.

I don't really know these guys, but those songs were damn good. I'll likely pick this album up.

Good God, those new Vektor songs sound just as good as the debut. Doesn't look like there will be a sophomore slump here. Definitely going to be picking this one up.

Also, am I the only one REALLY loving the new Exmortus? The change in vocals I'm indifferent to, but damn, these new songs sound great. They're tighter, meaner, and more focused than the debut. They definitely stepped up their game on this one, and the results are fucking terrific. This is probably going to be a top 5 of 2011 for me.

Do you guys plan on re-recording Moonbase some time? Since it seems you're trying to re-record most of your old tracks.

It looks like Moonbase is going to just stay where it is for now. We originally planned on reworking it some and putting it on this album, but it really just does not fit with the new material at all (where as the 3 old ones we did use flow with the new tracks really nicely and don't feel stylistically out of place). And we've sort of grown bored of that song, to be completely honest. We've tossed around the idea of tweaking it and EP-ing it some time down the road, but that may or may not end up actually happening.

Our plan all along for this three album deal was to do some updated old songs and some new ones on the first two albums, then the next one after Outer Isolation will most likely be a concept album. Then of course, future albums will continue to just be new stuff as well.

Also I'm sick of seeing that little thumbnail of the wrong cover, hahaha... so here is the full one. The vinyl will have a different cover that hasn't been revealed quite yet, which personally I like even better than this one.

Alright, thanks for the answer. I'm dying in anticipation for this new one! Black Future is one of my favorite thrash albums, period. One more question: why did they put the wrong cover art on the banner? Was is just a work-in-progress placeholder? I actually thought it looked pretty neat as well.

Sure thing, thanks for the support! As for that banner, I have no idea... I don't understand why Heavy Artillery does much of anything they do anymore. o_O

 Interesting. Well, I can't wait to hear Cosmic Cortex. I'm a sucker for long, epic songs! Well, don't mean to turn this into an interview, but I have two more questions if you would mind answering.

One, will this new album be more or less straight forward than Black Future? Regarding the prog influences and such.

Also, I've always wondered about this next question. Is the part starting at 9:03 in Accelerating Universe influenced by post-rock? It sounds like Explosions in the Sky

Only better.

Currently listening to the two new songs now. I've only listened to a song or two from Black Future but this sounds pretty good, definitely something that'd be awesome after multiple listens. I may have to look into this...

I don't mind answering questions, don't worry about it! Gives me an excuse to get distracted from work.
thrashfan07 wrote:

Overall it is a bit shorter, and we think it is a bit more "rockin" in certain ways, but I wouldn't say it's any more straight forward really. Once you hear some of the other new songs like Echoless Chamber or Outer Isolation that are more proggy, you'll have a better idea of what I mean. Long story short, we didn't drastically change the formula (why would we?). There is still quite a huge prog influence, and there always will be. It's a part of what we are.
thrashfan07 wrote:

That question I can't really answer that well, because Dave wrote that section back in 2003 or so before I even knew him, haha... but yes, a few of us in Vektor are into some bands of that genre. Myself (Blake) and Frank are probably the ones most into that type of stuff, and I know Dave digs some of those kinds of bands as well. But again, way back when that was written, I really have no idea. I'll ask him some time, I don't want to put words in his mouth. Sorry I don't have a better answer!

EDIT: also, weird fact... that strumming in that part of Accelerating Universe is a mandolin. True story.

What do you guys think? I'm on the second track right now -- it sounds more technical than the first, and faster. Digging it so far!

I never listened to the "Demolition" demo, but damn, it was certainly a wise decision to re-record the stuff. Especially "Venus Project" is amazing.
