You probably already know about it, but Deathgasm used to have a store front in Marietta. You can still view the entire stock in person and buy directly from the label by appointment though. Just call the number on the website. Otherwise Criminal Records and Wax 'n' Facts (almost completely vinyl) are probably going to be your best bet in the city. Atlanta based Negative Existence has an awesome selection, too. They're usually mail order only, but have super cheap rates for locals.

Don't know if it has already been posted/mentioned in this thread so far but here in Dublin (Ireland) we have Into The Void Records + The Devil's Den Tattoo under the one roof. ITV specialises in metal (of pretty every description/genre), punk, rock and alternative. We have vinyl (new + second hand), t shirts, CDs, patches, cassettes etc. Also we have a unique basement room where we have held held intimate acoustic shows with bands such as Slough Feg, Bloody Kisses (Type O Negative cover band from Dublin), Brains (70s rock from Ireland) and soon we'll have a Pat Walker (ex Warning/current 40 Watt Sun) acoustic show there.

Added to that we have The Devil's Den Tattoo, which is run by Rob Death Dealer from Vomitor who now lives in Dublin (and has done for nearly a year). For more info check these links:

How about Chicago? There are a few FYE's around my suburb..and Rolling Stones Records is on the north side with a pretty good collection, but not sure what else. Anyone? Willing to travel anywhere around the city for a good metal shop.

Hey guys. I'm spending part of this week in Morro Bay, CA area. I saw that there are a bunch of record shops around SLO. Any shops have a decent extreme metal selection or shops that carry quite a bit of post-rock that I should check out?

Are there any places record stores in NOLA/Metairie/Baton Rouge that carry metal albums?

Honestly, anywhere in Alaska. Used to have a pretty decent one here in Fairbanks years ago. Pirate Records if I recall. I'm sure I would have heard of something, though, if it existed. All we have is rockabilly, bluegrass, and sub-par Post-Rock for the college crowd who happened to hear a track from one of "Explosions In The Sky"'s releases.

Seriously, though. Any ideas?

Ok, looking for any one of these 4 things.

A metal shop in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada.

A metal shop in Regina, Saskatchewan, Canada.

An online metal shop that ships locally to Canada.

An online metal sop with plenty of melodic deathcore, melodic death metal, metalcore, technical death, progressive death, and djent. I am not looking for black, old thrash, or 70's-90's stuff.

Seriously, anything in Lynchburg, VA. (or anything in a 30 mile radius). The only thing I got here is a FYE since Plan 9/Record Exchange closed some years back.

I found a second-hand CD shop in Edinburgh, UK. Goes by the name of Hog's Head music, or something like that - I baught a few albums you wouldn't get in a mainstream shop - Emperor, Sunn O)) and the like.

Anyone know any other places in Edinburgh?

Does anyone know a way to find metal stores in a city? Like, are they in the yellow pages? Is there a certain phrase I can search in google? (searching 'metal' too often returns the physical material).

I don't know how close this would be for you, but you could try Lost Apparitions in Luray, VA. I've never been their but judging by their website they seem to have a good metal selection.

Damn! You were right. Awesome selection. Though the store is about 100 miles from here, it'd be worth it.

Thanks.

Found this place as I'm a student at the University of Waterloo.
Very nice selection in terms of shirts and stuff.
I'm sure they have a decent selection of CD's too.

Music Millennium in Portland (OR) anyone? Haven't been there but their site shows they stock a lot of good death-metal...just don't know if they carry any vinyl or if it's worth the trip...

Anybody know a good store around the Colorado Springs area?

Try the Independent in Old Colorado City, i forget what the roads called, its all shops though. Headed towards Manitou theres an Independent Records on the right by Wendys. There was a dude worked there kept it pretty well metal stocked. The one on Bijou a block up from the bus terminal had some interested NWOBHM stuff like Holocaust and Saxon, and ive seen Cirith Ungol on the shelves. There was a store downtown called The Leech Pit that had some alright stuff on vinyl, some of it i just didnt know i guess but there was an okay metal section considering. Good luck, i moved in 07 so i dont know whats changed, if anything. It doesnt hurt to scan the used sections of any of the independents really, the annex especially.

For anyone who might be from/visiting/around the Orange/Sullivan county area in NY, there's a metal shop by the name of Rock Fantasy in Middletown that has a pretty good inventory of CDs and some t-shirts. Nothing spectacular, but they're pretty good about taking orders too. The FYE in the mall in Middletown also has a surprisingly good metal section, one of the best I've seen for a store like it.

A late answer but there's a nice shop with a good vinyl selection in Warsaw:

Hey Joe. Sklep muzyczny‎
Złota 8
Warszawa, Polska
22 827 64 72
megatotal.pl‎

I found the exact street through Google Maps since I didn't wrote the address when I was there. The shop is located in a small passage perpendicular to the street, on the opposite of the commercial centre.

There's a CD shop with a separate entrance at this address, too.

The loss of Relapse was a great tragedy, indeed. The only place with decent holdings in the area I know of (and it's not so close) is the Princeton Record Exchange in P'ton, NJ.

Princeton Record Exchange is getting even better...perhaps because of people (myself included) buying regularly. Now carrying more BM.

Pretty informative. Definitely gonna check some of these out when I'm up there next month. Hospital Records in particular sounds awesome.

This link is, alas, now dead, but Generation Records in the village and Hospital nearby are quite good.

Their vinyl pricing and selection is amazing as well. I left with a 17$ copy of Mayhems 's Ordo Ad Chao on White vinyl which is an import, a copy of Velvet Underground's White Light/White Heat on green wax for a meager 11$, and Blut Aus Nord's Memoria (2xLP) for 24$. Can't find that Mayhem vinyl on discogs for under 45$. Score.

If anyone ever stops through Santa Barbara there's a great Mom and Pop shop called Warbler Records which has a great metal selection in used cd's and a decent selection of vinyl for the bigger metal bands.
Tons of Southern Lord stuff that will save you that ridiculous 7 or 8$ they charge for shipping.

For those in Melbourne, Australia: Metal Mayhem is not the only option - it gets mentioned here a lot because it is awesome, but it's also quite a way out of the city; here are some further suggestions:

- Missing Link Records - 405 Bourke St: It is in the basement, but you can't miss the signage and metal blasting at office-worker-scaring levels. Slightly odd mix of metal and hipster wares, but a great place to find rarities and special imports (especially doom, drone, and goregrind). Also has a massive range of metal vinyl, some decent shirts, a big selection of local metal (including merch; saw a great local act supporting at a gig but don't remember the name? ask here!), and a second-hand section (CDs, vinyl and cassettes; you can bring in your old stuff) with surprisingly consistent quality. ML also sell tickets (or will tell you where to get them) and advertise gigs, so check them out if you want to know what's on.
EDIT: Missing Link has merged with an indie vinyl place, 'Collectors' Corner'(somewhat unfortunate, but provides great opportunities for scaring hipsters, especially if they think they're cool with metal because they own a Burzum vinyl). It still exists in muted form, and has moved to a new location at 387 Bourke St. (only a few steps from its old location, in the direction of Elizabeth St). It is also now upstairs, rather than downstairs.
- Heartland Records - 61 Peel St: Specialise in industrial and goth, with a pretty good metal range, as well as a whole lotta new & second-hand vinyl

- Smoke Dreams - 292 Flinders St: No music, but a ridiculously huge range of merch; don't be intimidated by the scary-looking (but utterly friendly) staff on the ground floor, head through to the stairs at the back. I've never seen that many (correctly alphabetized) shirts in one place; there's a massive patch section for the denim-vesters amongst us; as well as badges, stickers, posters, pins, accessories (cuffs, spikes, belts, wallets, chains - including DIY stuff to make your own), movie merch, etc.

For anyone all the way out in Perth, Australia:

- 78s Records: Not a metal specialist, but the best record store in the state, with a very extensive range of metal CDs, vinyl, books, shirts, patches, and tickets to everything in town. The staff are awesome, and you can listen to stuff before you buy in the luxury of their private listening stations.
- DaDa Records: Big range of shirts and vinyl upstairs, unbelievable range of music downstairs - especially rarities (vinyl and CD), international imports, and every band you've never heard of; you can pre-listen (including in-store tester vinyl - how awesome is that?); and the largest selection I've seen in Australia of rare industrial/goth/EBM.

If anyone is around the Howell- Brighton area in Michigan, there is the Livingson Antique mall next to the outlet mall on Burkhardt rd. In the back there is a booth (a really large one, strangely) FULL of used CDs and vinyl as well as a fwe cassettes scattered here and there. I picked up "Persistence of Time" by Anthrax and "Roll The Bones" by Rush there for a buck a peice. In addition, there is a smaller booth in front that has a wide assortment of vinyl and a few cds. I managed to score the first Rainbow record on CD there. For an antique mall, they sure do have a lot of booths with CDs and Tapes  . Kevin

So I'm looking for a store that sells metal in the Greater Tampa Bay, Florida area. I live in Saint Petersburg myself, but a willing to drive for a good store. It would be very nice if any of you know about a store that has vinyl releases as well.

And a real metal store please. There doesn't need to be goat intestines hanging from the ceiling, but it needs actual metal music.
