Now I find myself to be relatively knowledgeable regarding OSDM up till 95, but after that, I'm absolutely clueless. So I'm curious if you guys can steer me in the right direction regarding the topic.
Thanks!

They can be:
Obscure gems
Well known classics
Oddities
Unique releases

Anything really, although I wouldnt mind getting into the more well known before I go deeper into the obscure titles.

Thanks guys.

You do realize there is a thread that is exactly about this for the most part?

Most releases listed tend to be oldschool. All the ones I mentioned in there are I think.

The point of request threads is NOT to have to do that. I know, lets all waste even more time finding what we're looking for, because thats how we did it when we were growing up.

It's not a waste of time, it's an enjoyment of discovery. But instant gratification has spoiled all of you little girls. it's pathetic.
ooohhh i want to hear this thing.... * downloads 15 albums* okay that was neat I won't care about this in ten minutes... next.

Casual listeners. lol.

The point of requests threads is to ask for something very specific that you are having trouble finding, although the quality of the recommendation forum has been sliding in the last few months. It is not to be used as a tool to substitute for laziness. Searching through that thread and using youtube to listen to songs to sort out what is relevant and what is not really doesn't take much time.

I've spent many, many hours finding every good early Black and Death Metal release and placing them all chronologically. I've wasted more than enough time looking for good modern Death Metal to know that for every diamond in the rough, there are a hundred Suffo/MA/Carcass clones, a hundred tech spam bands, and a hundred more suffering from Grindcore with flutes syndrome. Not that the increasingly over-saturated nu-OSDM scene is much better, but the ratio of good to bad is quite a bit more even. I know what it is to scour, and when it comes to modern DM it just isn't worth it. This casula listener thing is way off base.

No problem. Nice username by the way. I'll direct you to my ever growing list of OSDM releases as well: http://community2.metalreview.com/blogs ... -1995.aspx

It's a chronologically ordered list of every good 85-95 Death Metal release, each entry is a link to a song on youtube that I feel either bests represents the album or is my favorite. Of course i'm still missing a ton of stuff which I am in the process of finding.

Also something I forgot in my original list; Blaspherian's Infernal Warrior's of Death!

This couldn't be any further from the truth. Ive sifted through many threads and recommendations regarding OSDM Pre-95' Ive done the search thing, some are great, some are garbage, that's the way she goes. I was asking for all of it, just a few simple recs was all I was after.

And I always give an album a full listen, no matter what. If I like it, Ill listen to it again. Plain and simple.

Thanks man, I love the band, one of my favorite EPs. :D

Yeah, I'm going to piss around with that list, and get what I currently dont have. Which isnt a heck of a lot, but there are a few. Then I'll tackle that post 95' list.

Thanks again! Great little guide.
