Kinda unimportant, but I think the upcoming albums thing on the main page should also show the albums coming out on the current date. For example, on the 21st it should show albums from the 21st onwards not from the 22nd onwards.

Any plans on making a mobile version of the forum? Making it work with Forum Runner on the iPhone seems easy enough (supposedly it only takes 5 minutes to install some plugin). Not sure if the forum is compatible though.

More info: http://www.forumrunner.net/?p=register

I'm pretty confident the right CSS would be enough to turn the forum into something fit for a mobile device. :)

Nowhere else to put this, so I might as well mention a tip here for any users interested:

I just added this image as the cover art of an album.

Now, the image was 89.7 KB until I stripped the metadata from it, after which it shrank to 48.71 KB instead. :| That's right, 41 KBs of the image's data was taken up by pointless crap that would've otherwise forced us to resave the JPEG in Photoshop (which degrades quality).

I used this handy tool:
http://www.steelbytes.com/?mid=30

Basic and easy to use. Should also mention that every time you export an image from Photoshop, 19 bytes are taken up by a stamp the program adds to mark it as a Photoshop-generated document. So, if you really want to be meticulous about optimising an image's filesize, keep this tool handy. ;)

I use IrfanView for resizing and format changes. I don't know if it can deal with metadata as well, though. I'll download that dirty little stripper, thanks.

By memory, IrfanView leaves the metadata untouched between changes... although it might have a plugin buried in there somewhere to deal with metadata. Don't think I've come across it yet though. :)

What's with this? No tracklist and impossible to add one. It's also impossible to edit the album at all (apart from the lineup), because it keeps flashing that error message about no tracks having been entered.

Well, I can add a new entry and delete the buggy one. Only this review will have to be moved first.

I haven't skimmed through this thread for mentioned bugs, but there's one I have noticed. If you don't fill in a member on the past tab (let's say the info is wrong, or the member is back in the band), then you can't delete the legacy file.

I've had to move members to the past tab, save, delete the legacy info, then move them back to the current tab.

I did actually bring that up, though I don't know if it was in this thread. The admins are aware of that bug, the way you mentioned is the only way to deal with this right now.

Browsing the "point-whores" thread and seen the intractable issue with using commas for separate instruments instead of separate fields, here's something I'd want to point out:

Albums also have the option of separating fields - you can see it here for example, "edit" the release to see it clearer - so you might want to suspend that option, since albums don't have year ranges (duh...).

Every time that I try to add a release to a band's page, I get stuck on the label search feature. I was wondering if someone could tell me what I'm doing wrong. I am running Internet Explorer. When I search the label, I enter the name in the box that pops up, and it says "There really exists a label with this name." When I click the button that says "Apply this label," nothing happens.

We are having a problem with artists that participated as "Live members" at some point, and became official members of the band. Users tend to add them in both lists ("Live musicians" and "Current Lineup") The problem is noticed in the other bands of the artist, where the artist (somehow) will appear as live musician of this particular band while being in the current lineup.

I reported it at Cradle's of Filth archive, cause James McIlroy is a good case of this, he was at one time live member of Cradle but is now an official member; if you go to his other bands you'll notice that he appears as a live musician of cradle of filth instead of current member, see Chaosanct. I discovered that it can be fixed by just adding a "(Live)" tag in the "Current Lineup" information, that's the case of Caroline Campbell. However, I feel that fixing this would be useless, cause somebody would eventually come and add these artists to the "Live Musicians" list again.

I'm bringing this up, cause I have found another band with the same case: Sturmkaiser, artist Triumphator is in both lists and will appear as a live member of Sturmkaiser in his other band's files.

My question is: Is there a way to add a warning in the "Edit Band Members" section? Something saying that an official artist cannot be added to the Live Musician list. Cause people will continue adding artists in both lists.

I would love to see to an additional search field in the advanced search under the album tab for state/city/province that way I can search specific areas in otherwise massive countries such as Norway or the USA. I can't search for 2011 albums by bands in NJ or 1992 Black Metal albums by bands from Bergen Norway. It would make advanced searching albums much more worthwhile.

The bug was already reported, so all we can do is to wait until it's fixed. Anyway, that's not such a huge problem, since only a few artists are affected by it.

I have seen evidence that Papa Emeritus and Mary Goore (Tobias Forge) are indeed the same person. This can be seen at www.stim.se for those who can read Swedish. A Ghoul Writer is a pseudonym credited for every Ghost song.

Here's a screen cap.
http://oi56.tinypic.com/ae2v6x.jpg

The question is, should these two artists be merged or should they remain separate, but mentioned of each other in the bio field as it is now?

White Sabbath ... Jesus' band, did you not know this?

A bit more serious. I got a(nother) mail from Generichrist and a change in the line-up was requested. When I did the update I came to realize that some band members had been active before, but seemed to have parted with the band at some point. I re-activated them, but the issue with the dates left me a bit uncomfortable. Therefore, I have contacted the Generichrist and requested some information on the dates in which the members had been active.

The issue remains though. How do I add this?

I can say that it's the same person responsible for writing their songs and lyrics.
Meaning, A Ghoul Writer and Tobias Forge are the same. Now, how big are the odds that a band like Ghost uses an external songwriter? I mean, it's not mass produced pop shit.

Also, if you listen Tobias Forges band Subdivision, you can clearly hear that it is the same vocal style and voice as in Ghost.

The problem was not the lack of knowledge, but the different time frames, but I was able to add it. Just look at how I editted the page.

Oh, I didn't understand what exactly you wanted to do. Sometimes you're a bit too cryptic. :p

So, the question is, should Mary Goore and Papa Emeritus I be merged or should they just be mentioned in each others trivia/biography fields since Papa Emeritus I is a character of his own?

I think it's cooler that way.

I don't know if this has been mentioned yet but when you're reading a review on, say, page 10 of someone's reviews and click "back," it sends you back to page one of their reviews.

I am surprised to see that an edit of a review leads to it appearing on the front page. Sorry for the flodding.
