I've been listening to some AOR bands like Foreigner,Styx,Journey,Boston and Toto lately, and I like them a lot (as much as gay and cheesy they tend to be).Can anyone recommend me any other AOR bands?

I really like this genre, but I never knew what it stood for, what exactly does it stand for?

Ok,I've listened to all of these tracks you posted now.I really like the April Wine Song, but the Bad City song has too much of a modern rock sound for my taste,as does the Pretty Maids track (I do like their earlier stuff, though).I fell the other three songs could grow on me with time.

Any other recs?Keep 'em coming!

House of Lords are pretty good, but although I love their early stuff, the song you posted above sounds a bit too modern for me.
The others were ok,Mark Free porbably being the best.
Any other bands I should check out?

What about Ten? They have some great, highly melodic rock songs in their repertoire, somewhere between Hard Rock and very light metal:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-lEFza29eMI

Maybe also some of Dan Swanö's stuff will be to your liking, esp. his very melodic stuff like Unicorn:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Vw1t5nUrf6c
and of course his Nightingale albums. With each album Nightingale became less metal-like and more hard rockish/AOR. Ok, they are far from sounding like Boston (love them btw!) and Toto but chances are good you will like the music.
Here are a few songs to check out:

Wow,that Ten song you posted is great!I'll definitely look more into them, too bad most of the other recent AOR bands I've heard aren't as good as this.

Anyway,I really like Hardline's debut, does anyone know any other bands similar to them?
Also, this site mentions that some AOR bands tend to be lumped with NWOBHM at times, does anyone know any of those?

More on the metal side John Norum, TNT, Talisman, and Red Dawn are all great AOR finds. Also AOR either stands for "Album-Oriented Rock" or "Adult-Oriented Rock", whichever you like best.

In this case,it's adult-oriented.Album-oriented rock is a radio format.
EDIT:I listened to some Norum today, his solo stuff is great!
Regarding TNT,I like them quite a lot,but I always thought of them more as a melodic metal band than AOR.Still, some more bands similar to them would be pretty nice.

I know of all these bands, however,Outfield is new to me,I need to check them out.
If the Alcatrazz you're referring to is the one with Graham Bonnett and Yngwie,I'd say they're more of a melodic metal/hard rock band than an AOR band.
Which Cheap Trick and Supertramp albums are AOR?

Their 80s stuff is heavily rooted in AOR. The album Dream Police by Cheap Trick and Supertramp's Breakfast in America and Crime of the Century are pretty essential.

Just recently discovered a real gem from the 80s which might suit you:

Grand Prix with their album "Samurai" - awesome AOR with great choruses and now and then some slightly proggy breaks. Like in the titletrack:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SZctm6yDgoU

starts rather calm, then at about 01:35 it kicks really in and in the alst third gets some synth and drum absed prog break. Overall this album is just nothing less than a masterpiece!

here's some stuff to your original post (so nothing prggy AOR) - how about:

King Kobra - great rocking cheesey stuff (love it!!!!). Most famous for their song "Never say die "Iron Eagle"
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0ZwsCIfo9n8

Stan Bush - the master of cheesiness (in an imo positive way)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=htL9bFyaACU
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jkYuK3AKrxc

oh, and you definitely need the few songs from the Galaxy Rangers cartoon show, really!!!
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cLplMEa5kuw
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dGT6j2c- ... re=related
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IvWtI4NZjTI
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-HKW5XuGjNE

and if you like those then the band FM (also known as FM U.K.) is sth for you:

I love AOR too.

Some of my favourites include Alien (Swe), Joe Lamont, Don Dokken's first solo album, Europe, Night Ranger, FM, Agentz, Niagara (Esp), Frank Stallone (Yes, Sylvester Stallone's brother), Kenny Loggins, Cindy Valentine, Valentine, Ratt, Icon, Arcade and others. There's tonnes of unknown 80s AOR - it's pretty much parallel (but pussier) to metal really.

I really didn't think there was anyone else into this stuff around, most of the regulars i know like to give me a bit of a pounding for listening to it everyday, hahaha.

Yeah Treat is okay, but i never got too into them - they seemed rough around the edges - and a bit more glam/hard rock than AOR. Like Black Rose from UK or someting, or Touched (UK).

I recommend Glory and Shy as well - top notch. Le Mans is another in the second wave, Anerican style AOR that i love.

hehe, same here. Most of the people I hang around with are mainly into BM, Martial Industrial, Pagan stuff etc. (like a part of me, too) and they laughed quite a lot about my "other love". However when they heard the Galaxy Rangers stuff and Kenny Loggings "Danger Zone" they were instantly transported back to their childhood days and then realized what I find in that genre - :-D

edit: btw - not fully AOR but you all should check these fantastic 80s-Actionmovie-Mix-Tapes full of greatness (stream- and downloadable)

edit2:
Skagarack may also be worth a try, OP : classic 80s stuff

I wouldn't really consider Ratt or Icon AOR...Still,I haven't heard their whole discographies,so I could be wrong.

I'm looking for two things right now:
1) Bands with the synth sound similar to this:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9jK-NcRmVcw
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uZjmtPgB9QE

2) 70s AOR,aside from the bands already mentioned in this thread.

Some recommendations for hi-tech AOR like Device would also be nice.

As far as the high tech sound goes I already mentioned Lamont and Alien (Swe) which i think fit the bill nicely.

LeRoux is a band which fits into that 70s derived, what i call "first wave" AOR sound, but their first records are more boogie-ish rock. However 'So Fired Up' should be pretty close to what you're after and is a longtime part o9f my AOR collection. Catchy stuff.

Nah not that i know of. I used to use this:http://www.sleazeroxx.com/ a bit for glam/hard rock stuff, but these days i just use RYM - there are quite a lot of cool lists like these: http://rateyourmusic.com/list/Boxcar_Bo ... f_all_time
and others, which you could cross reference with youtube or whatever. That and the "similar artists" suggestions on last.fm. I really haven't explored much of them myself though.

Seems there is an AOR archives site...
They're missing a lot of bands (including some important ones,such as Styx,REO Speedwagon,Cheap Trick,Triumph,Toto,Boston,April Wine,Def Leppard,Asia,Europe,Danger Danger,Winger,Honeymoon Suite,Fiona,Hardline,HSAS,Sammy Hagar,Niagara,Mr. Mister,Tyketto and Bon Jovi;to name a few),but still,it's a great resource.
