I am honestly obsessed with these, always have-but only now am I in need of more

basically i'm looking for classic Thrash Instrumentals-where basically they obviously had way too many riffs and just decided to make a song of just them.

examples include: Death Angel's 'The Ultra Violence', Dark Angel's 'Cauterization', Metallica's 'Call of Ktulu' Sepultura's 'Inquisition Symphony and Exhorder's 'Incontinence' etc.

i don't give the least of a flying fuck for any recent Thrash/retro-Thrash bullshit unless it actually sounds old school (aka not plastic-y). please feel free to give me supposed obvious ones, i've honestly been away from Thrash for far too long (yes i am aware of Orion, it sucks though)

thank you

I'll go the obvious recommendation and say Mastery (Can)'s Lethal Legacy. An EP that complete thrash instrumentals. They've apparently got a vocalist now so don't get used to this kind of material from them. :)

Deathrow's Triocton should interest anyone into Metallica's long, prog-ish instrumentals.

One of my favorites, and a great way to kick off the album I might add...

Rigor Mortis - "Welcome to Your Funeral"
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aUc_td3m6ag

And I couldn't find a working link for it, but Sabbat's instrumental "Dead Man's Robe" is a crushing riff-fest.

Coroner - Nosferatu

Nuclear Assault - Game Over. Can't forget this one.

On the note of Coroner, Arc-Lite. I prefer Nosferatu, but this is still worth a mention.

Seconding this. The opening instrumental on the new album is pretty awesome as well, even if it is less thrashy and more flashy soloing.

Schizos (Are Never Alone Part III) from the "Criteria For A Black Widow" is completely instrumental. Otherwise you have "The Sound Of Horror" it`s on Annihilator`s "All For You"-album.

There is an interessting underground band named "3 Headed Monster" playing awesome instrumental Thrash Metal.
Many bands of the Neo-Classical and Prog scene act without any vocals.

Bumping this old thread because I love the topic. A couple of years ago I threw together two compilation disks of instrumental thrash. I was tooling around with the idea of whether or not there was enough good shit out there to do a third and this page pops up on a google search. There are about half a dozen songs mentioned here that I wasn't thinking to use on the 3rd disk or didn't already use on my first two disks, so I greatly appreciate all those who participated. In case anyone out there still cares about this subject, I'll do my part by sharing what my homemade comps looked like. I'm just copying and pasting, so my apologies for the format.

Two instrumentals in one, by UK band Crow. Whilst it isn't pure thrash, it should hopefully be thrashy enough for your needs.

Atavistic - "Vanishing Point". Again, not purely thrash, but good enough:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6c805P7nldE

And, in more conventional Thrash territory, here's 2 from Seventh Angel:

And 2 from Belgian thrashers X-Creta:

For those of you that have Spotify:

Here is my playlist with (to my taste) good thrash metal instrumentals
http://open.spotify.com/user/krunmo/pla ... OPgtOSRukz

And here is my playlist with all thrash metal instrumentals that I've found on Spotify:
http://open.spotify.com/user/krunmo/pla ... qo790s5LvX

Enjoy, and please note that there is a large job behind these lists.
I am a programmer, so I made a program that browsed all bands on metal-archives labeled as Thrash metal (+19'000), for tracks with lyrics set as "instrumental" and stored them in this list:
http://biphome.spray.se/karl.runmo/instr-thrash.htm
I did the same for Death metal bands (+28'000):
http://biphome.spray.se/karl.runmo/instr-death.htm

I was surprised of these lists, that contains several thousands tracks each:
Did you know that Annihilator have released as many as 14 instrumental tracks?
You have mentioned Megadeth and Metallica, did you know that they have released as many as 9 instrumental tracks each?
My favorite band, Tankard, have released 2 awesome instrumental tracks, which I was unaware of, a really nice discovery!
And my other favorite, Testament, have released as many as 12 instrumental tracks!

/Karl
