What kind of other bands have this sound besides newer Darkthrone. Or even any crust punk bands that kinda sound black metal. Also, I really dig the vocals on Dark Thrones and Black Flags so if you could recommend any bands with vocals like that that would be awesome.

the obvious answer would be hellhammer, celtic frost's first album also applies.

you could check out Sodom's in the sign of evil / obsessed by cruelty as well.

Gallhammer as well.

This isn't blackened crust, rather simply crust that's in the same vein as black metal (mainly due to the use of minimal and haunting keyboards). But give Filth of Mankind's The Final Chapter a shot. Amazing crust, with one hell of a black atmosphere, and it seems that (unfortunately) next to no one knows about them.

I think my band may appeal to this sound. It has a punky attitude and vibe, with a dirty old school black metal approach.

Order of the Vulture might be what you're looking for. They don't really have the Darkthrone-esque vocals, but they have the blackish crust sound.

Agreed. FoM are a criminally underrated band. The Final Chapter is an amazing album.

As for blackened crust, check out Iskra. They pretty much started the whole black/crust thing. Check out their self-titled and the splits. Their new album (Bureval) has pretty much dropped the crust in favour of a full black metal approach, though it's still a great album.

Iskra are an amazing live act. They're all really cool guys too.

I'm also starting a project with an old Seattle Crust band called Oroku in this sort of style. I'll fill you in on how things go after practice which should be later this week.

Demon City Reaper's NWOAMP should be right up your alley, along with about 20 other bands that have cropped up in the last couple years. Amazing how that black crusty thing suddenly kicked in when DT started being crusty and black. Amazing! Heck, I'll bet putting "crust" into a genre search on the site would come up with something.

Iskra and Martyrdöd are mandatory.
Also Aktiv Dödshjälp: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KzhJwlhUAGM

Maybe also Sexdrome ( http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rd_t59Q-j24 ) and Aanal Beehemoth ( http://www.myspace.com/aanalbeehemoth ), more punkish then crust, and stupid names but the music is quite enjoyable.

Stormcrow from Oakland, CA immediately came to mind when I thought of Crust/Black Metal.

Infernal Stronghold is exactly what you're looking for. Check out their split with Gatt or the new LP "Godless Noise"

Hotbild, Dazd, Ausgebombt, e123, Order of the Vulture, Summon the Crows, Alehammer, Appalacian Terror Unit, and Dodsangel are all great. Sweden, Russia, and the Pasific Northwest all have really great scenes as far as Blackened Crust goes.

Will do, I'm really excited about this project myself. The drummer who is my connection to the band has been real busy with work lately though, and we haven't had time to do anything yet. We're all going to try and be at Order of the Vulture next Sunday, so we'll be able to figure a schedual out between all of us.

Blackened crust is a REAL fucking sub genre dude, listen to Wolvhammer or Martyrdod and tell me it's not.

As for the OP, I have come to LOVE a lot of this stuff lately.

Check out: Wolvhammer, Martyrdod, Skitsystem, Wolfbrigade, Dishammer, Disfear, Unearthly Trance is more blackened-sludge but great, Mistress, Fukpig, Knelt Rote is kinda of grind/black metal, so much great stuff out there.

Necroing this thread as I've been getting into punk recently in a big way--- I'm looking for this kind of music but with clean punk vocals --- does it exist are do they all have shouted or BM style vox?

EDIT -- ok sorry didn't see the huge punk thread before I posted this

If you have to type "necroing this thread," don't necro the thread. Or just don't necro threads in general!
