To me there seems to be an abundance of great bands that post messages and blogs about their new albums, but nothing definite. My biggest two are Dawn (Swe), masters of the incredible album "Slaughtersun" and Slumber (Swe) and their album "Fallout" (though to be fair they just posted an update a few weeks ago).

So, what bands are you familiar with that keep talking about how great the recording process of a new album is going, but nothing really becomes of it. Anyone who mentions Wintersun is going to be sent to the cornfields. ;)

I would have mentioned Nokturnal Mortum, Temnozor, and Orphaned Land (which is an odd group of bands to mention in one sentence), but they all finally managed to release their new albums recently.

I'm still waiting for the new Skyforger, but it looks like that's finally going to come out in the next few months. They've been working on that album since probably at least 2007 or earlier.

Necrophagist and Atheist. Well, Atheist just released an update this morning saying it's going to be good (let's hope!) but no fucking word of Necrophagist.

Im waiting for Revolting's new album to be released. Its harder to stay updated with album releases from bands that are more underground. Its pretty much released when ever the albums recorded, mixed, mastered, and then printed.

Still waiting for the new Witchery album. They have confirmed that lyrics were done in June 2009, but I wonder when they will release the album (or even a press release confirming a release date).

Unexpect has been saying something about their new CD about to be recorded or in studio or "nearly finished mixing" for nigh on a year now with absolutely no signs of a CD release date. Damn annoying.

Also, this is the last time I heard any Frantic Bleep news:

Quote:
Update November 2008

All the instrumental tracks for the album have been completed, and B.P is currently working on vocals. We hope to get everything done around new-year. I have contacted the label in order to get an idea about when the record can be released, but they will not give any straight answers. It looks like the album could be released this spring at the earliest. I'm currently thinking about methods to let the fans hear the album before it's released.

More info coming up.

Yeah, that's right. It's been almost a year and a half since all the instrumentals for the album were complete and still no news....

Summoning said some shit some say, and they did release an EP of sorts, but I do remember hearing somewhere on the internet that an album was in the works. It's been four years now since Oath Bound, and five years before that since the last album.

Dawn is also pissing me off with releasing one half-assed recording that doesn't give a whole lot of hope for the new album.

This.

Also.. Manowar.. when Gods Of War came out they said that they had enough material for another album. Then that got forgotten about and midway through last year they said by the end of the year... that hasnt happened and no word from the band. They should put albums out as frequently as they put those repetitive DVDs out.

Freedom Call was also annoying me that was originally penned for April last year, but has just come out a month or so ago.

Deicide is one that I can think of. I read months ago that they were recording the follow up to 'Till Death Do Us Part' and that it would be out this summer, but that is the last I've heard mentioned about it...

which is strange as well cause Steve has just finished recording Order Of Ennead's 2nd album.

Violator and Fueled By Fire have been talking about a new album for the past three or four years, but nothing has come of it.

Vinterland was talking about a new album a couple years ago.

Dawn(swe) is annoying me too.

Yeah, when I saw them at Hellfest 2008 they played a new track. A track that is almost old now.

As for Dawn:

Dawn on 15-6-2007 wrote:
A new rehearsaltrack is up in the downloadsection recorded live and mixed down with added vocals. This is track nr two on the new album but still nameless though. On the album this track will be much faster with a better productionwise..

We have finally started to record the album in studio Monolith. The first track is already put down on tape, we will continue to record the next piece in short. The album will be recorded and mixed at the end of the summer 2009!

Just remembered Desultory (Swe) - these guys reformed just like Unanimated. Unanimated released their album last year, but Desultory still have been held back by some unknown unknown, as opposed to the usual known unknowns.

Carpathian Forest i remember Nattefrost saying a new album would be out way back in 2008 but still nothing they even posted updates on there myspace like -

"Carpathian Forest havent played live since 2006 but its now official that Carpathian Forest will do a few selected live shows in 2009. The band is busy writing the follow up album to Fuck You All!!!! and since the band is not promoting a new album when doing these shows, the band will focus on old classics, many of which have never been played live before!

Watch out for announcements of live shows near you!

The shows will include guest musicians a new set list, and a new stage setting.

Hell on Earth in 2009!

Carpathian Forest"

But nothing ever came out and still to this day no album.....

I'm pretty sure Anata's new album has been done for some time now, but can't be released because of label issues. Sucks.

I second Necrophagist as well.

I read on Wikipedia that the new Agalloch album is set to be released this year but no news about it. Alarum's "Natural Causes" should also be released this year, it has been postponed may times...but again, not so much news about when it will be released...

Also, remember how Bolt Thrower abandoned their plans on making album number nine? I'm still intrigued on how that would have turned out.

The new Masterplan is comming in April, but before that was announced a few weeks back that band also annoyed the shit out of me. The album was first announced in winter of 2007 and supposed to come out in summer of 2008. But I guess one of the reasons it was delayed was Jorn's comeback it is well worth the long wait.

Duke of Godkiller posted a message in 2002 (I think) that we was in the process of recording the third Godkiller album. He still seems to claim that he is recording it. Personally I've given up hope.

Hades Almighty is another band that was in the process of recording their newest album for eternity, to this day iirc.

The one that I'm anticipating the most is the new Thorns album. The last update was a few years ago I think, and still nothing.

This. Snorre said it was almost done in like 2008.

Also, no new news on Wormfood's "Posthume" since December 2008... Hell, no new news at all from them.
