One cool thing I find about Texas, although we lack a significant metal scene at shows, unique records stores that carry actual worth while releases are abundant. Well At least Houston, Austin and San Antonio do, I'm not sure about Dallas.

I live around there as well, and all I know of is Cheapo records on Snelling and a punk record store that sells little to no Metal on Lake street in Minneapolis called Extreme Noise Records.

You know what, nevermind. I just went to Cheapo last night, word of advice: Don't waste your time with them... That is unless you have $20 to spend on a CD and over $25 to spend on an LP. Even used CD's are around $14. They rip you off, quite badly. Plus, the selection is shit, one little aisle of Metal, definitely not worth burning up any gas you have in your vehicle. Extreme Noise in Minneapolis, on the other hand, I do recommend!

Does Extreme Noise have CD's too? Also I'm guessing since you suggested them, they must have a bigger metal selection then Cheapo?
I sort of figured it was more mostly for underground, or older Punk stuff...

They do have a selection of CD's, too, yeah. They have a MUCH bigger selection of Metal. It is predominately Punk stuff, but seriously, there's quite a lot of good metal LPs and CDs to browse. Plus, there's a lot of gently used things for GREAT prices, unlike the con artists at Cheapo.

This sucks. Not so much that it stops me from getting music but I've always wanted a metal store just as a place to hang out and meet people with a similar taste in music. Wish I could open one :D.

I'm looking for a shop in the Kansas City area. The college-rock store here in Lawrence used to have a decent metal collection, but they got rid of most of it when they moved, aside from some sludge bands and other groups that have hipster cred like Mastodon.

Cool, I read some online reviews of the store and heard the clerks can sort of give you an attitude if you don't look 'punk' enough but that sounds kinda ridiculous.

I wish it was back in the mid '90's though when Root Cellar and Nightfall Records were both still around, between those two they beat the heck out of anybody in this area (RIP Decker & Earl)
And even earlier then that, when Northern Lights still existed in Downtown Minneapolis, that store rocked, too

There was the store next to Hell's Bells, street Na Belidle, between Andel and the river, I read it has less metal now though. It used to be a "metal" shop.

Also, there was some CD bazar close to Namesti Miru that had some metal.

Maximum Underground near Staromestske Namesti had some metal, but mostly drum & bass and punk. Just found the address with a search: Jilska 22

I haven't been to Prague in years, so my info is not actual.

Actually check this page, it's probably not more actual than what I wrote:

Anything in the Amherst/Northampton/Hadley, MA area? There's a Newbury Comics in Amherst (which has some cool stuff but nothing terribly hard-to-find) and Platterpus Records in the Hampshire Mall (which doesn't have much).

I'm thinking Northampton would have to have some kind of independent record store somewhere.

Moses Records
Lerchenfelderstrasse 33, 1070 Vienna

FMC, FISCHER MUSIC & CHRONICLE
Webgasse 41, 1060 Vienna

Sing-Sing Records
Neustiftgasse 19, 1070 Vienna

Discpoint (only second hand!)
Otto Bauergasse 16, 1060 Vienna

All four ain't specialised in metal, not even close, but they (try to) cover all genres and styles. There's a good chance of finding what you're searching for.

Okay, there is a metal record store (TOTEM, Zollergasse 18-20, 1070 Vienna), but everything's horrendously overpriced there, so I advise you not to go there unless you're unsuccessful in the other stores.

At the FYE there I've purchased:

Entombed - Left Hand Path
Napalm Death - The Code is Red
Origin - III
Nasum - Helvete
Carnage - Dark Recollections
Morbid Angel - Gateways

In Providence, you've got the Armageddon Shop, which is pretty good for metal and punk.

I've supported Armageddon Shop for almost three years, and they're the coolest guys I've met.

If you ever decide to head there, tell them Ameer sent you.

Howdy, I am going to Beijing in march as an exchange student, and was wondering whether there are any stores selling metal, punk or, hell, asian rock music in general?
Furthermore, have you guys had any dealings with asian metal labels/distros, and by this I mean labels from countries like Singapore, Thailand, Malaysia and the like.

Thanks for who suggested Extreme Noise, unfortunately I had very little time to look, but I walked out of there with Venom's "Possessed" and I quick-scanned their CD section, it did seem a heck of a lot better then Cheapo!

The closest (and only) store that I know of that's near you is called Fantasy. It's in Newport News. I used to be on a ship in Norfolk, and I was a regular customer there.

(Funny story. I wore a "Hogwild Records" shirt in there once, and a guy said "Isn't that the metal store in San Antonio, TX?" ...it is).

Their website doesn't have much metal on it, but I assure you, it's definitely worth the trip. Mostly t-shirts and weird shit on the first floor. All the music is upstairs. Here's a link to the site...

http://www.fantasyva.com/

Goddamn Hogwild rules, I've bought more albums there than I can count, honestly. GREAT place! This place has the best metal selection I've seen in any American store, although you can't tell by their site. Anyone who visits SA needs to make their way over here.

The main venues for metal would be the Marquee and Cain's Ballroom in Tulsa, if you don't mind the long drive. We've had bands from Vader to Decrepit Birth to Testament come here. If you do ever go to Tulsa, look up Starship records. They've got a good selection and the workers are cool, even a few big metalheads.

Are there any other metal shops in Bangkok? I know about Triple Six Shop and Metal Quest but MQ overcharges a lot of their items and Triple Six seems really good but I'm wondering if there are any other metal stores in this city.

I'm looking for any good metal shops in the Andrews,Odessa,Midland area of Texas. I was in Midland once and I saw what seemed to be a Eschaton Records store, but I was closed down (dammit).
I live in Andrews, so I KNOW there isn't anything remotely metal related in town, but the surrounding areas might have something that I don't know about yet.
Any help would be wonderful.

Even though it's extremely unlikely that someone that can help me might even see this, I still ask for a metal shop in Moss, Norway?

Seriously, the selection here in my crappy little town sucks ass.

Two shops:

- Planet Music in Ilica 37
- Dancing Bear also has a solid metal selection. I forgot the name of the street, but it is also very close to the city centre.

But beware, the prices are inhuman.

The loss of Relapse was a great tragedy, indeed. The only place with decent holdings in the area I know of (and it's not so close) is the Princeton Record Exchange in P'ton, NJ.
