Favorite grindcore band. They have a ton of industrial/sludge songs too. So fucking HEAVY.

Not to start a genre war, but I thought they were Nu Metal, unless that's another Mudvayne I'm thinking of.

That's the joke man, scroll up and read.

I have now established that.

Alright, I saw Moonsorrow at Paganfest nearly half the year ago. They were enjoyable and had a decent crowd, but there was one song that stuck in my head and I have yet to figure out which one it is. It sounded like your normal Moonsorrow song for most of the duration, but at the end of the song there was this completely monstrous, fast paced thrash riff that came out of nowhere and ended up starting a fairly large circle pit. The vocalist laughed afterwards and said he loves playing that song live purely because of the response he gets from that part. The only album I have is Voimasta Ja Kunniasta, and I'm fairly sure this song isn't from that album. Any Moonsorrow fans care to help me identify the song?

Sounds like first track on Suden Uni, no idea how to spell the name though Laughing

edit: looked it up and it's called "Ukkosenjumalan Poika"

It doesn't sound that spectacular on album, but I can imagine it being epic live. There's a similar one in the song "Karhunkynsi", where a typical Moonsorrow song (although much darker than earlier material) changes into an epic black metal blastfest. It doesn't come as out of nowhere as the thrash thing in "Ukkosenjumalan Poika", though. It must be be awesome to hear live.

Just standard psytrance, not really the Goa variety. You don't capitalize Goa like that either, since it's just named after the state in India.

Also, Infected Mushroom's earliest material, up through I'M The Supervisor. Since then they've been experimenting with rock and such in their trance, and I rather like it, but I can see how it rubs some people the wrong way.

Son Kite are the only worthwhile psytrance I've ever heard. Both members have since formed Minilogue, a techno outfit who I can't recommend enough.
This is as psychedelic as anything you'll ever hear.

i think they're highly acclaimed in both. i knew the origins of the name, but i never knew the correct way to type out Goa, i've just always capitalized by default.

That track rule, I don't have the album, but from how much I like that one, I guess I should try to get hold of it at some point.

It sure is. Probably the band's definitive Viking metal record. Hellsheadbangers did have Thousand Swords on sale a couple weeks ago but quickly sold it. That album sells like hotcakes on any domestic US distro.

I was lucky to pick up a copy at the Amoeba in Berkeley, there must be a hundred different reissues (each with a different cover) of this thing! But yes, WSTD is most definitely the best of Graveland's 'viking' era, too bad that the newest album is such a step down in overall quality.

Hm, I knew Amoeba stocked some metal, but I didn't know they stocked something like Graveland. I might check them out soon, there's one near LA I think.

They have a whole section dedicated to black metal, though they use black metal as a blanket term that includes black, death, thrash, and doom, pretty much all extreme metal.

Nice, I should check that out.

I've decided to finally catch up with the rest of the world and check out Gorgoroth. So far all I have is Incipit Satan, which is fairly solid, although somewhat repetitive. Really digging the piano intro to "Unchain my heart", though. Next up on the list is Under the Sign of Hell-so far all I've heard is "Profetens Apenbaring", but the clean vocals sound really cool. I think I read some reviews saying one of their albums is slightly folk-influenced; Would anyone know which one this is?

Hell yes, Unchain my Heart is an amazing song.

And, I'd reccomend checking their first two albums before anything.

They really don't do much in the way of Goa-style psytrance, though. I own their entire discography for many years. Khetzal is what real Goa is all about.

Tonight's listening consists Nespithe by Demilich. I hope this album lives up to it's reputation.

I don't know why, with all the hype and all, I was never ever tempted to hear them. And now, since nothing was playing and you're talking about it, I visited their page for the first time and clicked the myspace link. Damn, the first song is just over, but it's death metal how I like it. Shame on me for being so slow.

Glad you like it man, I'm on the 4th song now and it's not really clicking yet.. Maybe later.

Why don't you narrate your entire experience with the album, one post per song? Then maybe later you can record your commentary over the original songs in a John Madden voice and post it on Youtube. We NEED to know how you feel!

Does Sony Music Entertainment have any right to claim a Dissection song as their own? A guy on youtube posted some Dissection (from Live Legacy) and Sony Music is trying to claim that it matches content of theirs.

Now, after some research, it seems that Sony has a sublabel called 'Legacy', so that might be where this comes from. However, it seems as though they are claiming the track itself as matching content they own.

....WHAT? I really hope you're full of shit. HoF have had stellar production jobs with the last two albums (the first two were fine, too...but the last two were really something) so what the hell are they thinking? What does Jack Endino have on his plate these days that he can't do this one, too?

Ugh...it's listed on his personal website. Fuck you, Greg. Everything you touch turns to shit. Well, everything he touched was already shitty, with only a couple of exceptions (although it'd be hard to make the Red Hot Chili Peppers get into clipping territory).

Morbid Anal Frog are fucking stupid but yeah, they have a release and they play metal. So either they are being deliberately left off because they are retarded or maybe it's a case as simple as no one has submitted them yet.

I would put this in the Last Album Purchase thread, but this is just too sweet.

Oh yeah

See the top middle cd? That thing usually runs for $50+ on it's own, and I got it for $33 with 4 other cds! He probably could havee gotten alot out of that lot if he had actually put Obscura somewhere on the listing.

Oh, and on an unrelated note, has their been any news of a reissue of the first two The Chasm cds? I've broken down and am downloading From the Lost Years after searching the web for somewhere to buy it.

Oh, and on an unrelated note, has their been any news of a reissue of the first two The Chasm cds? I've broken down and am downloading From the Lost Years after searching the web for somewhere to buy it.

I heard talk of reissuing From The Lost Years, but I think Corchado shot down any remarks / didn't say anything about the debut. Sucks too, because its one of my favorites.

why is Morbid Anal Fog not included on the archives?

Morbid Anal Frog are fucking stupid but yeah, they have a release and they play metal. So either they are being deliberately left off because they are retarded or maybe it's a case as simple as no one has submitted them yet.

The best music video ever.

I just found out about a new political ideology that's literally blowing my freaking mind.

National Bolshevism...WHAT THE FUCK?!

This is a joke, right? Please, let this be a joke.
