Hi everyone!(This is my first post so bare with me)

Lately I've been getting back into my Black Metal roots and after hearing bands like Toxic Holocaust and Bestial Mockery I really really enjoy the whole Black/Thrash sound and I was wondering if I can get some names to increase my library!

Thanks!

There's a shitload of bands... Though I don't especially appreciate this genre, just posted so you'd know.

But one of the most known is Destroyer 666.

Bloodwraith is pretty good, but hard to find. Check their MySpace for samples.

Check out Devastator (FL, US), Old (Ger), Desaster, Gospel of the Horns, Assaulter, Nocturnal (Ger), Nocturnal Breed, Flagellator (the best), Aura Noir, Urn, Nifelheim (if you don't mind blasting bestial black/thrash), Sabbat (Jpn), Absu...

There are a ton of these bands, and some of them are starting to run together. My highest recommendations go to Devastator and Flagellator. Devastator have been unwavering in their release of impeccable black/thrash since their full-length debut in 2005. The first album "The End" has the most black metal to its sound, being about 50/50 black-to-thrash. The more recent stuff is quite a bit more thrashy, and also has some great Motorhead influences. Flagellator is a bit harder to track down (in physical form) but "Channeling the Acheron" is the most heartfelt, fucking powerful black/thrash album I've ever heard. If you're into USBM at all this is the side project from Ahkenaten of Judas Iscariot fame. The German drummer he enlists to pelt the skins is impossibly fun to listen to, wearing his kit into submission and seemingly loving every second of it.

You can also comb through this thread and glean quite a few recs: http://metal-archives.com/board/viewtop ... ack+thrash

FLAGELLATOR (man, the solo in "Nightmare Apocalypse" is fucking amazing) - I wish Akhenaten (had) released more music with this project, I absolutely love it as well as Debauchery. And it isn't that hard to track down, I'm sure No Colours still carries it.
Nocturnal Breed - "Fields Of Rot" is essential.
Desaster - you really can't go wrong with this band, but I suggest trying "A Touch Of Medieval Darkness" first; their later albums are more Swedeath-influenced.

Second Desroyer 666, quality, you also might enjoy Necrodeath from Italy, one of the earlier black thrash bands.

IXXI's 'Assorted Armament' is the best black/thrash album I've ever heard. Dirty, ugly black metal, but so fucking catchy.

Listing doesn't do any good. Plus, some of those aren't even part thrash.

Anyway, OP - try Necromessiah. They're a band I just discovered myself. They're more of a black metal band, but the thrash is certainly still there, making itself present in raspy yet thrashy vocals, solos, certain riffs, and the overall speed. Antiklerical Terroristik Death Squad owns.

Damnation Army is fucking great. Evil, black as the night, and thrashin' to the bone!

Can't go wrong with any of their releases, but a new album just recently came out.

If you like Desaster (which you should!), try In Aeternam and Bewitched (Swe).

Deathhammer - Norwegian band with some damn catchy tunes and hilarious artwork.
War Ripper - Sounds like a crusty Toxic Holocaust

I'm not really into thrash all that much, normally because every time I hear a new, promising thrash band they have vocals that annoy me to no end. However, I finally listened to the much-lauded Morbid Saint and they're excellent. It's pretty much purely thrash but the vocals definitely sound blackened to me.

I've only heard Cryptobeast and it's awesome, I definitely need to check out some of the older albums.

I second Sarcofago and early Sodom. Witchaven is pretty mediocre to me, but you might like it. At least try to listen to them.

Nocturnal Breed is awesome. Fields of Rot is probably their best album, but least black metal (just for the record). The vocalist is incredibly flexible, and one of the best around. In fact, I'd say Fields of Rot is one of the best thrash albums ever released. No exaggeration.

Nifelheim is definitely another worthwhile band. I have Servants of Darkness, and it's a damn fine bit of black thrash. The one review's analysis was pretty spot-on: Imagine Venom if they could play their instruments to a better degree, and were a fair bit more evil-sounding.

That's my problem too. I went through every thrash band on Metal-Archives top 100 Thrash Albums list(There are over 200 listings) and 95% of the more obscure lesser known bands had great music mixed with the corniest vocals you could ever imagine. That's probably the reason for their obscurity. I've pretty given up on finding any new thrash bands. That being said I've rarely been disappointed with any Black Thrash or a Death Thrash bands.
