Any Bands from any genre that use Cellos in their music or in particular songs? No apocalyptica to obvious. Black Cello Metal would be awesome.

From what I've heard Asunder uses one, and quite well might I add. Checkout Works Will Come Undone, great album. I think they used it on other works too, but ain't too sure at the moment.

Diablo Swing Orchestra- Operatic vocals, mainly, and a metal/swing/classical feel. A band that's worth a look, has pretty decent cello and other strings as well.

maudlin of the Well- Another interesting band, ranging with a variety of different styles/genres. Have cello among many other instruments.

+1 on Asunder, Oroku, Wake Up On Fire, Amber Asylum, Giant Squid...do a search with cello through the various sub-genres and it's crossovers of crust, doom and avant-garde.

Darkestrah uses cello on their albums "Embrace of Memory" and "The Great Silk Road," and possibly also on "Epos" though I'm not certain. Great black metal.

Lux Occulta's Forever Alone, Immortal has some very nice cello moments. It's black metal, but it always makes me think of Estatic Fear's second album.

Lord Belial's first two albums feature some cello too.

There's also Vehementer Nos and Pantheon I.

Tristania uses a violin, not a cello on Widows Weeds. Their album ashes uses a cello though. Also try the EP Violent Whispers by Nota Profana, which uses cellos in addition to multiple other classical instruments.

Cello and guitar are the two main instruments here.

If you'd like something close to a cello (i.e. doublebass) I highly suggest Cadaver's ...In Pains. It's old school death metal that integrates a highly creepy doublebass in a number of songs. Very interesting sound vaguely reminscent of Nocturnus's The Key

Saruman (melodeath) has a decent debut album with a pretty cool and constant use of cello.

Vhernen is supposedly bedroom black metal ("funeral black metal," so says the myspace) with cello rather than guitar, but I haven't listened very much.

Hyperion and Judgment Day are both additional "string metal" bands, the former is hard to find but the latter makes some pretty good melodic metal (instrumental, with only violin, cello and drums, but with distortion!)

I highly recommend Sopor Aeternus and the Ensemble of Shadows. Not metal though, more like gothic, neoclassical darkwave. Check out the Dead Lover's Sarabande albums for the most cello, though everything kicks major ass.

HARR HARR!
APOCALYPTICA!!!!

Kidding. From what I remember [don't always trust my memory, though], doesn't Urfaust use classical instruments like Cello, violin, piano and orchestration?

Or am I thinking of a different band?

Angantyr's "Hævn", the last six minutes of "Blod for Blod, Liv for Liv" is pure cello.

They're more prog rock than metal, but I believe Anekdoten used the cello a fair amount in their debut album Vemod.

Profanum (Pol). They play a very interesting mix of classical and black metal, using only classical instruments, including cellos. I highly recommend their Musaeum Esotericum.

I second Giant Squid. It's the same cello-playing chick from Grayceon, which was already mentioned.

Xasthur(US) are a fairly well known as a Depressive Black Metal/Ambient band with heavy use of cello and whats known as a "wall of guitar" sound from it's sole member, Malefic. Check them out. However a fairly decent amount of Black Metalists who don't like them much for their repetitive nature.
