I'm looking for songs (or if there is a band that sounds primarily like this song) that sound similar to Alabama Thunderpussy's The Beggar. I'm not concerned with popularity, lyrics, or language, I am mainly focused on the vocal style and the slower instrumentals. I wish I could be more specific, offering other songs as examples, but I guess that's why I'm posting this.

That's a tough one...I love ATP and all the bands in that scene (Dixie Witch, Artimus Pyledriver, Honky, Solace...) but they really took it to a new level on "Open Fire" - between the songwriting and Kyle's vocals, I can't think of anything to compare it to other than maybe the first two Badlands records.

"The Begger" is a awesome song off of a awesome album. I got to see ATP open up for Obituary in '07 before they split.

Anyways, try Floodgate, Kyle Thomas's post-Exhorder, pre-ATP band. They only released one album called Penalty, which is one of my favorites. Nothing that sounds JUST like "The Begger" but the two albums are similar, in my mind at least.

Thanks for the recs. After looking around for a while myself, as well, I'm beginning to see that The Beggar is one of those unique songs with a unique sound. I'm still open for suggestions, if anyone else has any. Thanks again
