I'm not aware of any, and think it would some really good. Seems like something that could work with operatic female vocals as well. Something like Candlemass (if Messiah was a chick!) would be great.

Far from operatic... but the obvious female-fronted doom band is Thorr's Hammer.

I'm not sure if this is what you're looking for, but try Funeral. Some of their albums are almost exclusively female vocals.

Mourn's singer is a chick, but she sings in a more rock style than operatic. Still, good traditional doom with female vocals.

Theres a little English band called The River who use female vocals exclusively. Not operatic, and they're not a very dark sounding doom band, and are often kind of poppy, but they're a good band.

If you're looking for harsh female vocals, you could try Grey from my neck of the woods, seattle.

they were pretty sick when I saw them with coffins and stormcrow, I dont know how the recorded stuff is though.

This might be what you're looking for, but unfortunately their other songs don't sound like this at all.

Not so operatic but check out Jex Thoth or Blood Ceremony, both good chick fronted Doom bands.

I second the river.

If you want some gothic doom then you could go for Draconian, How Like A Winter. Blasphemer has a female fronted band named Ava Inferi which is pretty good.

Estatic Fear is a folk/symphonic doom band with male a female vocals. Beautiful melodies throughout their albums. You should check them out.

Unholy (Fin) - very slow and melancholic doom with female vocalist.

Early The 3rd & The Mortal, early The Gathering and early Theatre of Tragedy are all phenomenal...but may be more goth than what you're after.

Acid King, Bottom, Alunah...again, awesome but more on the stoner side of doom.

The song "Butchertown" from their most recent album is in the same vein.

Virgin Black has a lot of operatic female vocals. I highly recommend them.

no mention of Sacrilege (UK). Last album of theirs is doom...and they're female fronted. Were an old metal blade band. Definitely worth checking out.

Would Serpentcult be worth a mention? Doom with groove elements and a female vocalist, Michelle. Great new band, they are.

Funeral (Nor), lots of female vocals but they're more death/funeral doom
