I'm looking for some happy sounding folk metal in the veins of Korpiklaani, Lumsk, Finntroll's Nattfödd. Don't know how to express this, but it sound upbeat and almost good for dancing. Also, folk metal woth violins is awsome, so post some recs on that too. Looking forward for some recommendations.

Try TrollfesT. "Helvetes Hunden GARM" from Welkommen Folk Tel Drekka Fest!, or however it's spelt, is hilarious.

Kalevala from Russia is pretty upbeat and happy, with a lot of accordion.

One of my favorite metal bands is Dalriada (formerly Echo of Dalriada), which is upbeat and sounds happy even when the lyrics aren't.

Nekrogoblikon seems to fit the "happy folk" sound. Primordial might also work.

I find the German Equillibrium to be "happy" folk, it just makes you want to jump up and start dancing.

I don't listen to most of the bands mentioned here [with the exception of Equilibrium and Primordial], so I would have to go with Temnozor and Kroda. Both happy sounding and very folk

Cruachan have quite a few happy or uplifting songs. Not all of their stuff is cheerful but I'd definitely say they're well worth a look

Check out Devil In The Kitchen. They're an American folk metal band, which means....a fucking fiddle. You could call them hoe-down metal. Surprisingly awesome shit, and its all instrumental.

Well I am kind of turned down by NS folk bands, so those are out of the question. Thanks for the recommendations so far. Really loved some of these. Waiting for more Also, anything with bagpipes or violin in it is welcome.

Folkearth uses all kinds of instruments, and most of their work is considered "upbeat".

Dalriada from Hungary plays quite jolly Folk Metal. At least it appears to me that way.

I think what you could be looking for is Glittertind, especially their Til Dovre Faller EP and Mellom Bakkar Og Berg album. Has the same danceable punkish quality of Korpiklaani, I find.

Also, check this out, I think you should enjoy. It's from a Czech band called Paladran but based on a Rustem played by Taraf de Haidouks.

Otyg is pretty morose and minor key.

Arkona has some upbeat songs like that, like Zov Bitvy.

In my opinion, Elvenking's "Heathenreel" is the best "happy folk" metal around. Well-written, catchy, and energetic as hell.

Try HEOL TELWEN or Mago De Oz, they both sound happy folk metal....what you're looking for is something like Celtic/Folk, the violin stuff....

Not sure if it's what you're looking for but they are pretty fast tempo/toe-tapping.
