I was listening to a college radio station the other day and was blown away by a song I heard but couldn't get the name of it. I'm hoping someone here might be able to help.
I'm not too good with genres, the best I can probably describe it as would be death metal - heavy guitars and double bass drumming with a little bit of growling vocals - with a lot of orchestral integration.
What really got me was the choir. Sort of a God or War/300 style choir - really epic.
There was also female vocals, but very little. Sort of sprinkled in to fill out the sound.
Please help!

If it was on the radio, perhaps it was Crimfall. They have heavy use of female vocals, but not on all songs. There's a lot of orchestral (probably sampled) stuff in their music.

Some good metal with choirs is "The Varangian Way" by Turisas, especially the closing song. Awesome stuff.

I'm pretty sure it's none of those three, but damn... Thanks for the recommendations!

Therion, perhaps?

edit: Which college radio station? Mine keeps logs of what it plays, which are posted online.

Seconded Therion. "Wine Of Aluqah" from Vovin probably.

Here's what they have under June 2nd:

I'm not sure if that's up until the 2nd, or week of the 2nd. I tried some of the names listed and got some obscure stuff - nothing like what I was looking for.

I think this is much closer to what I'm looking for. There was very little focus on the vocals. The female voice was just adding an ambient 'ah'. The choir was percussive, doing the 'ha' thing like Epica does. There was a sort of point-counterpoint between the strings and guitar trading off melodies.

Thanks a lot for the help guys. Even if I never find the exact song, I have some great stuff I might have never found.

Edit:
Also, I didn't catch the very beginning, but I heard a good 4 or 5 minutes of it.

uneXpect isn't really death metal, nor do they really have a backing chorus, but glad you found it! In a Flesh Aquarium is a terrific album. Just listened to it this morning.
