Regardless of genre or sound, I would like any musical suggestions of bands whose primary lyrical focus is on the work of one of the greatest horror writers of all time

Feel free to exclude any bands that only have one or two songs (example: The thing that should not be - Metallica)

But concept albums are acceptable (CATACOMBS - In The Depths Of R'lyeh)

Bal-Sagoth. Most Definitely...The vocalist and lyricist of Bal-Sagoth actually has a degree in English and did his thesis "on the genres of pulp fantasy, science fiction and horror, and more specifically the works of H.P. Lovecraft" (wikipedia of Byron Roberts).

I think you will love them.

try Azathoth. kinda amaturish black metal from Fresno, California, but very HP Lovecraft inspired lyrics.

Check out The Vision Bleak. It has a former member from Empyrium in it. It's a gothic metal band that focuses on horror, and has a bunch of Lovecraft themed songs.

Have you heard Dreaming with the Dead by ripping Corpse? The title track is na almost exact replica of lovecraft's "the Tomb"

MA states The Axis Of Perdition to incorporate Lovecraftian elements into their lyrics, although I haven't really been able to discern them yet. Could be because they never release their lyrics to the public... So that might not be very helpful. But what the hell, check them out anyway, they're the best you can get.

Payne's Gray released a Lovecraft-themed concept album called Kadath Decoded. For mid-90's progressive metal it actually has somewhat of a unique feel to it, with two lead vocalists and a lot of instrumentation that could appeal to fans of prog rock as well.
