(First off, if this should go in the Power Metal Help Thread, fine, I'll move the subject there once this has been locked).

Now, onto the thread! Rather simple really. A term you hear every once in a while with all those really, really cheesy power metal bands are that they're the kind of band that goes out and slays dragons - probably to point outthe almost overdone lyrical fantasy-theme. However, I cannot recall ever hearing a band that actually sing about dragonslaying. So, to the point:

Are there any (I'm mostly looking for power, even though it could be in other genres aswell) bands that really DO sing about dragonslaying. I mean, as blatantly obvious as "we ride out to slay the dragon". Like, where the-fact-that-they're-singing-about-dragonslaying-really-hits-you-in-the-face-obvious, clear lyrics on the subject. Be it the only thing the band sings about on several albums, to just an occasional song, to just... any song at all.

Short form - Power metal bands - non-subtle lyrics about dragonslaying. Do they really exist?

That whole album is about dragonslaying. It rules, when you listen to it in the right order (listed on the album page).

Seems like just the thing I was looking for. However, it was a bit unclear... what band was it, and what album?

It might've said "Slaying Dragons" but the lyrics that were up said nothing on the matter, and I can't really be assed to look for samples at 4am.

You caught on to that a lot quicker than I expected, rexxz. I'm glad someone appreciates the subtlety. ;) It's also just plain awesome artwork. Not a bad song either.

Granted, the one album with lyrics didn't have muuch concerning dragons, but ,maybe this one might:

At Vance - Dragonchaser (Album) has some dragon-lyrics.

Also, The swedish (formerly awesome) power band "Insania" has a kick-ass album - "Sunrise in Riverland" that has a few songs about dragons if i remember correctly. Maby not slaying dragons, but journeys, and bewaring of dragons :)

I hate to drop this, but Dragonforce's Through the Fire and the Flames, by my interpretation seems to be about a fight against a dragon. Ensiferums Deathbringer from the Sky is about a Dragon attacking a village and being pursued by warriors (not exactly knights in shining armor, but fuck, Vikings are cooler). Amon Amarth's Twilight of the Thundergod, the story of Thor's final battle with Jormungand the Midgard Serpent could be construed as what you are looking for, but then again, its a snake in the song, not a dragon.
