I'm running out of Bloodbath to listen to. I already have Resurrection Through Carnage, Nightmares Made Flesh, Unblessing the Purity, and The Fathomless Mastery. I've listened to Breeding Death a little and I plan to get The Wacken Carnage eventually.

The point of this thread however, is to find more bands similar to Bloodbath. I'm trying to figure out what it is that I like about them...I think it's their awesome riffs and production quality and vocals more than anything. They have a little groove which is nice and they're not too melodic and just brutal enough...Nile is too brutal for me. Hypocrisy - Virus is great too, but I like Bloodbath more as it is generally more brutal.

I've checked out Immolation...I don't really like their style, the way they repeat measures annoys me. I've listened to a few of their albums several times and I still don't like it.

I enjoy Unleashed but their vocals aren't good enough to grab me the way Bloodbath did.

Please recommend Death Metal bands for me to check out that are similar to Bloodbath or you think I'll like.

Use the death metal help thread (link in the stickied thread).

Yeah I've tried that. I'm lucky to get one response...hence why I've made this thread.

Psycroptic - Scepter or Isle albums.
Meshuggah - They are quite brutal & have a good rhythm. Try Nothing or Obzen.
I also recommend Hypocrisy's, The Arrival.

As for similar vocals, hm, I'm racking my brains... Necrophobic, Illdisposed & Aborted are bands with deep, growling vocalists. Somewhat similar to Mikael.

Necrophobic - The Third Antichrist

Can't seem to find any Psycroptic, I will keep looking.

I have Meshuggah's first album...it's okay. Interesting, technically ridiculous, but not very enjoyable to listen to. I will check out the two you mentioned

I've listened to The Arrival a couple times. I liked it, but never actually listened to it seriously...I'll try that at some point.

I will look into Necrophobic and Illdisposed as well

For some reason listening to Bloodbath always leads me to listening to Bolt Thrower. They have catchy riffs and a sort of groove type thing going on similar to Bloodbath although the production isn't that great.

Dismember and Grave, perhaps?

Dismember is on the thrashy side and I don't care for his voice too much. Not bad though.

I will check out Grave and Bolt Thrower

Don't be fooled, Meshuggah's other albums are a lot different to their first one. Their first one is thrash whereas, their later releases have a more industrial feel. I agree, some of their songs are quite technical but they do have some nice melodic parts as well.

Oh yes, I third that Grave rec.

Yeah I see that. I'm only on track 2 of Nothing and I already like it more than the first album

Immolation kinda changed over time, so if you heard their early stuff and didn't like it, try the newer stuff. And vice-versa.

I've listened to a couple of their early albums and one of the last albums :(

Cause Of Death is what most people start off with.

That is usually considered THE Obituary album. Slowly We Rot gets its share of praise, as well, though.

Try "Close To A World Below" if you haven't done so already.

For Immolation i think start with Dawn Of Possession or Unholy Cult.

I prefer Slowly We Rot over Cause Of Death.

You should look to the older bands that Bloodbath take influence from like Dismember, Grave, Entombed etc.

Wow, these suggestions suck. Nothing at all like Bloodbath.

Check out Vomitory. Great updated Swedish Death Metal (from Sweden). Terrorize Brutalize Sodomize is a great and very intense album. Revelation Nausea is also good.

I could use more Bloodbath as well, my friend! Thanks to the person who suggested Vomitory. I love you.

I was just about to suggest Vomitory, but then I saw your post. Vomitory's sound is pretty close to Bloodbath's.

Check out Demiurg.
They sound a lot like Bloodbath.
They even got Dan Swano in it :D

on Resurrection Through Carnage the band lifted moments/elements/riffs/ideas/structures/concepts from

Carnage AND Merciless AND Grave AND Gorement !!!
so try those
(the band was so much more fun when it was a tribute to older Swedish DeathMetal...........................................)

but........... as picky as you seem to be, maybe i really don't recommend you anything, just keep listening to the same 5 albums ?!

Wow, I'm so glad this thread exists, I fucking love Bloodbath. I'll second the Bolt Thrower rec, specifically "Those Once Loyal" Great production for them, and a really great DM album overall.

Just now listening to Vomitory for the first time, already digging it. Pretty close to Bloodbath, I'll say.

Try Jungle Rot, they do everything Bloodbath does but way better.

I'd maybe say the band Gorement would be good for you. They're a bit slower paced, but they've got some good stuff.

LOLOLOLOLOLOL. Bloodbath is apparently far, far too accessible, and you don't even know about Obituary? Apparently, your favorite bands are Children of Bodom, Dethkock, Machine Head, Meshuggah and Shadows Fall. Not exactly the most metal selection I've ever heard. CoB has one or two decent albums, Dethklok is a fucking joke, Machine Head are wiggers, Meshuggah are repetitive as all fuck, and Shadows Fall is lolol metalcore.

Whilst it doesn't sound totally similar to Bloodbath perhaps try Hypocrisy's Osculum Obscenum, has catchiness and groove whilst retaining brutality.
