Does anyone have any idea what happened to them?

They were supposed to release Esoteric in January but they havent given an update in quite some time. Since they revealed the album art.

Glad someone else is at least as eager as I am. Esoteric is my most highly anticipated album of 2009, unless Insomnium get a new one out this year. Anyway, the last I heard, besides the revealing of the cover art, was that the studio was all booked for a while/the mixing process was going to be delayed. But have faith, my friend. :metal:

Damn, I listened to Spectral more times that I can count, I can't wait for this next album.

I am looking forward to this. I honestly didn't know they had anything new coming out. It's been quite awhile since Spectral.

I got an email a month before I left for training from Edlund saying something about how they already have the drum and bass tracks down. This was back in May though and I don't know how much has been accomplished between then and now, but considering it's been nearly 5 years gives them no excuse to put out this year.

If they release in 09, this year will definitely be one of the best in the past few.

This is definitely welcome news to my ears, as I've been utterly pissed at COB releasing such crap the last 5 years and not having these guys, who have not released any lackluster material, to counter it. At some point in the next month or so "Timeless Departure" is going to get a review from me and I'm toying with the idea of giving it a perfect score as its the greatest pure hybrid of power and melodic death metal I've heard.

Hopefully these guys didn't forget their style after being on a studio hiatus for about 5 years.

Good reasoning^^.

I haven't listened to Timeless Departure in ages, I think I need to give them another chance, I usually just stick to other bands of this style, but time for a reevaluation.

If the apology is for the pointlessness of the post itself, I'll personally accept it, otherwise no need, there's nothing more annoying than someone who apologizes for their opinions, regardless to how poorly explained they are.

FINALLY some fucking news. :metal: They announced today that they just finished recording the album, and it will be released this fall! AND they'll be releasing a digital-EP this summer with previously unreleased tracks that won't even be on Esoteric. I am fucking pumped.

Good, Edlund wasn't lying then when he said he they were making progress. Now if Wintersun pulled a Skyfire, the planets would align.

Thank you. "Timeless Departure" is probably my favorite album of all time.

Oh, joy! As sarcastic as that may sound, it is genuine. Spectral is one of my favourite albums and if the new on even approaches that quality, I'll be happy. I want the other two full lengths and have them on order through a Sydney store. So far one has arrived, but I'm still waiting for the other and hopefully it'll arrive by March 14th, 'cause I'll be in Sydney. There is the chance that it simply wrong arrive, however. :(

Anyway, this is good news and I just hope that the new vocalist is as good as Wenngren was.

Man, miss this band since their last album release.
Their kinda underrated in my opinion, and i'm glad that are not giving up...
My only fear is that they might turned out to be the next, core influenced band...
