Anyone in the VA area know of any good metal shows coming around? I know COF and Satyricon are coming to Norfolk Feb 25... but what else is there... local to where you live?

if you really want to see quality bands, you will probably end up having to go up to northern va to jaxx. the venue is lame, but they always have great bands

I haven't heard anything about Jaxx closing down, but that doesn't mean it's not happening. I live in Charlottesville, so I always have to drive at least 2 hours to see any shows... and that would be at Jaxx's basically. It pretty much sucks.

I think he might mean mean this:

http://jaxxroxx.com/jaypage.htm

The owner explains about half way down that he put it up for sale in January, but then decided not to go through with it.

Seeing as you live in Charlottesville, do you ever go to the Outback Lodge? They have some decent metal shows from time to time, next Friday Demolition Faction are gonna be there, they're a decent thrash band. I live in Scottsville, by the way.

I'm still trying to find another venue around Lynchburg to do shows.

The Outback is cool. They always treat In Death I Become really well when I go up with them whenever they play with This Means You or others. I just wish it was bigger.

The Jaxx is not going to close down to my knowledge. That rumor came about a while ago when I think the venue changed ownership. There's a lot more rap groups, dance music, Jpop and other crap there now, but they still have the bigger metal tours.

The Norva in Norfolk and The National in Richmond are also great venues.

I work right down the street from the Outback Lodge but I have never been there to check out a concert though.

Are you gonna go check them out tomorrow then?

Nah, it's next Friday - the 27th. Where exactly do you work, if you don't mind my asking?

Oops, my bad.

I work for a medical company that supplies computer systems and software to doctors and hospitals/clinics for use in radiation treatments for guys who have testicular cancer.

Oh, right on. I'm not sure if I'll be there next Friday, but if I am I'll be the kid in the denim vest with the Venom backpatch. Hope to see you there, assuming I make it.

I'm in Charlottesville and went the last time IDIB came here to Outback. It's a shame they took off before I could buy a cd though. I got to talk to Paul for a little bit. This Means You is pretty cool, Kim's awesome. Too bad OBL doesn't have more metal shows. I missed One Eyed Suicide a couple weeks ago too.
