Matt Barlow of Iced Earth and gets pretty deep some times, but he also does a lot of midrange and high so that might not be what you're looking for.

Kind of an obvious choice but I thought I would mention it anyway.

Huh?

I guess what I meant is that Barlow has a naturally deep voice but also uses the rest of his range a good deal. as I mentioned, it's probably not what the original poster was looking for but I thought I would mention it anyway.

OT: The guy from Tiamat has a crazy low voice. I know their material that well, but I do remember being surprised by how low that guy could sing.

Empyrium I think, not sure if it's really low though.

They're awesome so check them anyway.

I have yet to see any mention of Joakim Broden of Sabaton.

You'll definitely want to look into the Italian doom group The Foreshadowing. It's all clean vocals, and the guy has a really solid, somber sounding voice.

+1
but the songs are for the most part too similar and gets old quickly

I'd suggest the last couple albums by Andras, Of Old Wisdom, and Iron Way.

They're pretty similar stylistically and vocally to earlier Vintersorg, with the added bonus of a full line up and modern production.

And this guy: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oHg5SJYRHA0

I don't know if you're looking for power metal, but Sabaton's singer has a crazy deep voice. Also, Testament, although it's debatable how clean the vocals are.

Hope that helps.

Do you mean Eldritch from Sisters of Mercy? One of the best bands ever, btw :)

Check out the singer from My Dying Bride. I'm personally not a big fan, but he may fit the bill of what you're looking for.

I'm a bit surprised Root and Tristitia weren't mentioned yet. Also, Dan Swano lays down some pretty deep vocals on Godsend's (Nor) "As the Shadows Fall"

Ashes to Ashes vocalist is pretty low/deep too.

Try Arcturus-La Masquerade Infernale album. I don't know who that dude is, but I was blown away at his inpressively deep vocals, almost like an opera bass. Also, it has been mentioned, but Aaron Stainthorpe(My Dying Bride) is a great vocalist with a very deep voice.

Yes. I can't think of anyone that has a better lower register that beats him, unless you get into the death metal realm but that's not the same thing IMO. Forget Peter Steele

I'm also a Mission UK fan (preferably speaking the first 2 albums FIRST CHAPTER and GODS OWN MEDICINE although I do like the CHILDREN album quite a bit which was produced by JPJ of LedZep).

Just being the late dumbass to throw in a suggestion even though you're not looking for anymore suggestions, the male vocalist in the band Beseech has a nice low-vocal style.

I don't know if you'd consider these "clean" vocals. They're low, and not too harsh...check out Inquisition

Moonspell as someone previously said has some very enjoyable low range vocals. Personally, I love them and think they work with the brand of Gothic they play quite well.

Poisonblack and Sentenced's Ville Laihiala does some amazing low range work. I'd stay nearer to Poisonblack's older stuff, Lust Stained Despair is fair game.

Kypck has Sentenced influenced vocal work as well coming from the lead guitarist of said band. Erkki Seppnen does great work on that album and he just completes the absolute frozen tundra of an album that is Cherno. All clean, all powerful.
