Regarding hell, does it say anywhere in the bible that Hell is under or at the core of the earth or anything to that effect? I always thought that the the idea of Hell being underground is borrowed from other pagan religions (Greek, Scandinavian...etc), than anything explicitly Christian. Isn't the word for Hell borrowed from Scandinavian Mythology anyway?

I don't know about the ancient religions, but my understanding is that the less conservative, more modern Catholics believe hell as a state of being devoid of the presence of God, rather than an actual tangible place.

Yes, Hell comes from Hel, the Norse goddess of the dead, who resided in Nifelheim, the cold part of the underworld.

Now, in regards to the hole to hell. It's an old story, one of many Christian bullshit tales that being with "Scientists discovered..."

Heh. The Famine used a sound clip from the video in the OP for the beginning of the song 'Killing for Sport'. Check it out:

According to christianity our souls can speak and feel for in the bible it is said that in Hell our souls would feel horrible, 24/7 sickness a weeping and gnashing of teeth. And in heaven there are glorious choirs and we joke have fun and praise God. As well to the "Hell being below the earth" question. Heaven and Hell, like God, are otherwordly, so they arent in our world, I think its obvious...

When I first heard this story, I was kind of disappointed that the only explanation offered was that it was a Gateway to Hell. Why weren't there suggestions of Hollow Earth theories, or localised wormhole to another dimension, or something other than a portal to the underworld?

I was disappointed nobody brought up the idea of a Pellucidar, that would have been cool.

That's funny, what about the LHC? that's at least 50 KM underground and I don't believe they've encountered Beelzebub and all his little fire wizards.

Don't be ludicrous, we don't have the capacity to dig that far AND install a giant fucking pipe. The LHC is 50-175 METRES below ground.

Really??? Was it that important? I remember seeing that a few months ago.. I did my research and turns out that's freaking lie... Researchers couldn't find the source of the rumour, and the scientist does not even exist!

Is kinda of like a oractical joke you know? Made up by some christians to make you fear Hell. But everyone here knows Hell = Fun!!!

Wow ... if you say that then you must believe anything. Just because something is farfetched doesn't mean that it has to be true or valid, but I understand what your trying to say: They obviously have proof or something if their going to make claims like that. But no ... the thing is, they obviously have a reason for making these claims, and I believe that reason is that they do not have any scientific reasons as to what these noises are. Just because it cannot be explained with the knowledge we have as of yet, does not mean that the supernatural is valid. Personally I believe it is just bullshit. But my above reasoning is aimed at what you might believe.

"Extraordinary claims need extraordinary evidence."

 okay I stand corrected (I think I misread the metres and the KM bit) but what I was getting at is that the LHC is still further under the ground than where the tape was recorded and they didn't meet any demons or anything.

Imagine the head scientist has a scar over his third testicle

"No Mr. Bond I expect you to swallow"

Wait why is this turning into a James Bond gay porno :(

I remember the "demon-flies-out-of-hell-hole" thing a while back. It was on the front page of a supermarket tabloid, if I remember correctly.

I'm sure some folks at TBN heard about it and ran with it.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Well_to_Hell_hoax

Regarding Hell: The word Hell has pagan Anglo-saxon origins, (helle). Similar concepts are found in most of the worls religions, including ones that predate Abrahamic religions.

The Christian concept of hell (Gehenna) mixes these ideas with that of a fire pit, where unwanted things (trash) were burned. It is typically used as a metaphor, but many have interpreted it as a real place of damnation.

In most places of the world, it is custom to bury the dead. Couple this with volcanic activity witnessed by ancient peoples, and it's not hard to see where such a concept came from.

The cavity that was found during the drilling (if this is true) is not unusual. Such cavities are common, including those filled with petroleum and crude oil, which is what the drillers were looking for to begin with, I imagine. There are empty or partially filled magma chambers as well.

uh... no?

the recording was taken at 12km or something... That's 12000m. That's a bit more than 50m or 175m...
The LHC is something like 25km across, however, but not deep.

I'm pretty sure that the guy who made that audio clip came out and said that it was a hoax, I think it was a theme park's noise with some distortion, hell you can hear it loop. I'm pretty sure that's the same as the one I heard before.

If that story is true, it's a terrible waste of natural ressources.
