I dunno, I guess it's not bad, but to me the best Candlemass is the Messiah Candlemass.

I don't think Messiah Marcolin will be returning back to Candlemass anytime soon. Which is a shame because I really loved the last one he sang on.

Cryptopsy:
With Lord worm, if he ever decides to come back.

Death:
It would be awesome if they were still alive, they're my favorite band and always will be.

Napalm Death:
They own, completely. And I actually liked the scum album.

Carcass:
Anything from these guys is fucking awesome, yes even Heartwork.

Oh my, I get a hard on just thinking about these guys playing together D:

Only Chuck is dead, the rest of Death's various lineups are alive. I guess you could say the band is dead, though, since Chuck was the heart and soul of it.

But good choice in Carcass, they do a great show.

No particular order for stage time here, but....

Bathory, playing Sign of the Black Mark/Blood Fire Death/Hammerheart material. Fuck that would be great!

Candlemass, playing a classic line-up with the session vocalist for the entirety of EDM, and then the new guy from SA for the whole rendition of King of the Grey Islands.

Death, playing some early classic material off SBG and then some ITP and TSoP stuff. Fucking godly.

and finally, Manowar, who would play a best-of setlist... they have so much good material it would be hard to decide... just so long as Battle hymns closed the night, this video should explain it all: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5dua20MhTwk

cheers,

From what I understood, the OP meant dead, deceased or inactive bands. Therefore my choice would be:

AUTOPSY
DEMILICH
FUNEBRE
WINTER

and

FILTHY CHRISTIANS
HERESY
RIGHTEOUS PIGS
SIEGE

Virus
Solefald
Ulver
Emperor

There is only extremely little possibility for me to see Virus or Ulver live because they stated something like "maybe once in the distant future" but more likely not

Change Priest from Defenders to Unleashed in the East era, and you've got yourself a bill!

Vader, Deicide, Morbid Angel, Autopsy.

I've seen Vader once before, and this would be the perfect line up to see them again for the second time.

Would open with the Rotted (Gorerotted) to get the crowd nice and psyched up, then Immolation because they are fucking godly. As bands with dead members seem to be allowed we can then ressurrect Chuck's corpse for Death to co headline with the almightly Morbid Angel. However Morbid would only be allowed to top the bill on the condition that David Vincent burns that fucking horrible T shirt he has :) perfect.

Paganfest 1 in Europe is basicaly my dream tour line up, only I'd want Korpiklaani headlining. But, here's the band I'd love to see live:

Emperor: Great band to open a black metal show with.

Satyricon: I just love this band. Plain and simple.

Immortal: Would put on an amazing show. It's like a black metal side show, ya gotta love it!

Burzum: 'Cmon! You all know you would love The Count to play at least one live show!

There are basically two line ups fighting it out in my head right now.

The first would be Celtic Frost, Neurosis, Mono, Cult of Luna. Cult of Luna would open up and play mostly newer material with "Leave Me Here" thrown in for good measure. Mono would follow up with just about anything as long as they play Moonlight and Yearning. Neurosis would play a set mixed from all of their eras, except for maybe their early punk stuff cause I don't really see that fitting in very well. Finally Celtic Frost would play To Mega Therion all the way through, with an encore of songs from Morbid Tales and Monotheist, ending the night with Synagogue Satanae.

This one would be more of a "dream" concert as it is basically impossible but I'd like to see Death (either Human or Individual thought Patterns line up), Meshuggah, Mirrorthrone (with a super group line up of some sorts as Vlad's backing band), and Behemoth. If anyone has any suggestions for the Mirrorthrone line up I'd be happy to hear them.

I know what I'd like to see:

Morbid (How can you not?)
Nirvana 2002 (Orvar Safstrom is an amazing vocalist)
Nihilist (No brainer)
Enslaved (Circa 1996 or earlier)

I can happily say that they were just about one of the greatest bands I have ever seen live! I saw them earlier this year then met them at a signing.

I wonder what Mr.Vikernes would be like on stage.

As for me, I'd love to see:

Mayhem. With Maniac. (Yeah, I love Maniac :D)
Marduk. And Legion would come onstage and do a song with Mortuus.
Obviously Immortal.
and last but not least, Behemoth.

:metal:

Opeth: Opeth is a great band and have a great live show.

Immortal: Immortal would be amazing to see live in concert.

Blind Guardian: Blind Guardian is one of my favorite bands (and one of the first metal bands I listened to) and I enjoy most of the cd's that they have produced.

Ensiferum: Ending a show with Ensiferum would be a great choice, especially if they played Into Battle. I would prefer that Jari would be the vocalist however because I am not used to Petri as the vocalist yet. (I don't own Victory Songs, just the first two Ensiferum albums.)

Reasons why are obvious, I suppose.

Perfect. With the exception of Kyuss. I would rather it be Destruction (Release From Agony era). That would be the greatest thrash lineup ever IMO.

Two complete different takes at this:

Perfect line up #1 (appearance of order):

Swans (early material)
Godflesh (early 90's)
Pitchshifter (early 90's, not mallcore rock)
Scorn (once again, early 90's, preferably guitar driven material)

Perfect line up #2 (appearance of order):

Discharge (old school)
Concrete Sox
S.O.B.
Deviated Instinct

Judas Priest, Sodom, Death, Bathory

That about covers it. I'd love to hear from all, but won't be seeing two of them, ever.

Haven't seen Sodom or JP yet either.

An ideal show for me would be Exhorder, Dark Angel, Morbid Saint, and Demolition Hammer. No particular era for any of the bands. The entire building would explode, and I would definitely have many broken bones by the end of the concert. How much would I pay for it? However much it cost.

For both lineups I could't think of a 4th band that would fit

#1 fuckin' hell
Slayer (mid 80's)
Morbid Angel (early 90's, first 3 albums)
Gorgoroth (first 3 albums, with Hat or Pest on vocals)

#2 would be intresting to see those bands live
Falkenbach (all albums)
Summoning (all albums)
Darkthrone (the first 5)

Well and this is just who I want to see live it would look like this

Day 1 Death/Melo Death/Black Metal

Death (Head Liners)
Dark Tranquility
Emepror
At The Gates
Nile
Ram-Zet
God Dethorned
Kalmah
Arch Enemy
Venom
Celtic Frost

Day 2 Female Fronted Metal

Epica (Head Liners)
After Forever
Edenbridge
Lunatica
To-Mera
Stream of Passion
Dendura
Flowing Tears
Midnattsol

Some may ask why I did not put Within Temptiton, Nightwish, or even Lacuna Coil to which I say the ones I listed for the 2nd day fit in with what I'm going for. Beisdes I hit most of the genres there.

Ou, I cant imagine Darkthrone playing live. I think that their music is really not destined to be played live. Actually I read some articles about their early rare shows and that sucks to the core.

Mayhem I have seen a few months ago and it was great show of cool dressed Attila Csihar switching by halter but musically it was quite poor.

I have seen also Vader last year and immolation played a few moments after them. Immolation were definitely far better, their bald guitarist did really great job. One of the best show I have ever seen!

Morbid Angel (Altars of Madness)
Slayer (Show No Mercy)
Mercyful Fate (Melissa)
Cirith Ungol (King of the Dead)
Black Sabbath (Sabbath Bloody Sabbath)

In a perfect world Cirith Ungol would be on every line up. What a great band.

I personally like Vader better, but the crazy, dissonant stuff Immolation play would be pretty crazy live.
