I googled "female metal bands", but all I got was a bunch of old 80's melodic crap.

Not to say old music is band, just not was I was looking for.

Anyway, anyone know any death metal bands that have female vocalists? Something that sounds like D666, Slipknot (not "metal" to you guys but whatever,), or somthing like that?

Dreaming Dead. They probably don't sound like what you're looking for, but they've got two girls in the band. I saw them when they opened for Eluveitie, Kataklysm.

Please don't say you consider slipknot to be death metal :S

I would suggest Arch Enemy, which are actually classed as Death Metal, as it happens I'm listening to 'Blood on your Hands' right now.

Two great bands you need. Estuary, who play death/thrash metal and Matriarch who have three singers and play black/death metal (each singer has a unique style, being soprano, black and death). You will not regret it!

Lori Bravo of Nuclear Death has some amazing death grunts. The music might take some getting used to, however.

Merlin.
http://metal-archives.com/band.php?id=632

Probably, like most, will not sound like what you're looking for. However, the vocalist/bassist is a chick.

I suppose if you wanted something like slipknot you could go for kittie, I've only heard their music briefly but it seems like the sort of thing that would appeal to someone who likes slipknot.

Derketa is a band that comes to mind. Very good actually. A death metal with some doom influences.

Fuck The Facts. Pretty good voice/range. Many people call them grindcore, but I have never been one to label a 14 song, 43 minutes album "grind."

Adorior (UK). Blasting, savage but intricate black/death with evil-as-fuck female vocalist. Author of Incest is one of the best extreme metal albums to come from this green and pleasant land in donkey's years.

From your description I think Adorior may not suit the TC

Also, I would like to add that Bolt Thrower's 'Those Once Loyal' is also one of the best British metal albums in recent times. They also have a female member, but she isn't a vocalist.

If you're referring to In Flames, Arch Enemy, (new) Dark Tranquility, etc. then you are wrong.

Arch Enemy plays Death metal? Sure they play it all right. But it's called Melodic Death Metal. ;)

You see there is Death Metal then there is Melodic Death metal.

:brick:  OTEP IS NOT DEATH METAL. I don't even think you can class them as metal.

Check out Bloodshoteye - Groove/Death/Deathcore, genre-wise. Female vocalist who is, frankly, kick-ass.

Yep. They're great. They're melodic death metal, so if you like Scar Symmetry (early works) than you'd like them.

Mythic is an all-female Doom/Death band from the early 90's. I managed to find a used copy of their EP at a record store that me and some buddies frequent when we go into Massachusettes. I bought it as a blind purchase, some really solid stuff, if it wasn't for their pictures in the cassette, i would have never guessed it.

http://www.myspace.com/mythicmetal - has the full EP available, however it's unofficial. The band split up in 1992 only releasing some demos and eps and such.

Two members were also involved with another majorly female doom/death band Derketa if you're interested

Who cares whether a band has a female vocalist or not?

Bolt Thrower has a female bassist.

If you dig any industrial style in your death metal, The Project Hate MCMXCIX and Hypnosis (Fra) are what you need.

I disagree whole heartedly. At least Melodeath has shred guitar solos, making it more "metal" than any Korn or Gimp Trikits or whatever.

I'm so sick of many on this forum's strange obsession of bashing Gothenburg Metal.

Didn't Sinister have a female vocalist for awhile?

Exactly what I said when I looked at the thread. Seriously, next time I'll probably see a thread looking for bands with guitarists who wear purple underwear.

I find it interesting that people go out of there way to find bands with female vocalists. I am not against them but its not my style. I think its rare to come across a female vocalists who has a real metal presance- let alone the band actually being any good. You see bands like Otep and Arch Enemy with really girly vocalists and I cant buy into those bands bc of that. Otep are shit and Arch Enemy arnt half bad but the vocalist (rather than the actual vocals) ruins it for me.

I am a bit confused about what style of death metal you are looking for... but I will still suggest the german death metal band Sacralis. They were an all female band. The album 'Infera Destino' might be to your liking.

DO NOT RECOMMEND THE SINISTER ALBUMS WITH RACHEL!!!!!

ugh ugh UGH!!!
hahaha, sorry... just have to be forward with that one, her half assed grumbled and grunted unintelligible and unenunciated garbles are embarrassing and make already weaker albums just unbearable.
they are MUCH better with Aad as the vocalist now!!!!

Rachel just totally shit all over the albums she was on, her vocals are a mess. especially Savage or Grace, the only thing graceful about it is the intro!!!

Because they are uncommon compared to male-fronted death metal bands, and so people are curious.
