My band is Silent Legion, and I created it last year. I have recorded an abum, with a dark ambient / black metal feel. You decide what it is for yourself. Leave feedback. Listen to all the songs in the album or it might just seem like ambient.

Do you appreciate honest comments?

Edit: Oh, fuck, you stated yourself that it is a joke band. That's exactly what it sounds like.

I've only listened to the two tracks on your MySpace page, but I didn't care much for those. "Darkness Gathered" has a very bland and typical synth patch playing pretty boring New Age-type stuff that all seemed like it may well have been improvised. The drums in the beginning are not programmed well (both simplistic and off-time) and compositionally, I can't figure out why they are there or why they go away. Basically this whole track was off-putting to me - I didn't get any interest out of it, and it goes on far too long, considering.

"Pool" is like a few basic, badly-done ingredients of metal - and New Age again - stirred together in a stew of randomness. Super-simple guitar riff, drums that are again badly programmed and way too basic, some poor growling (and very cliche lyrics), and an overall lack of compositional ideas. In the end I was wondering if I just heard a song, or stream of consciousness nonsense.

I don't mean to tear into you. My honest take on it is that it's not very good, but as young as you are, you'll have a lot of time and enthusiasm to devote to improving. Listen to more metal and try to figure out what you like about your favorite bands, albums, and songs. Then try to adapt those concepts into what you do. You're also going to want to practice, practice, practice - you need to improve your playing to get across your best ideas, when you have them. I think they are still ahead of you.

I appreciate the honesty there. I wrote and recorded all eight of my songs in 3-4 months. I am sort of poor, and I'm only 17. I didn't have the best recording options. I am going to re-record Pool when I have the money for a proper studio. The guitar especially.
Thank you for your honesty again. Could you understand the lyrics? And how was the bass in your opinion?

Yes, last year 2007 it was something of a joke, then i made a myspace for it, and it wasn't a joke after that.

Runescape soundtrack music as an influence!? Cheers, I love some of the atmosphere in the songs in that game.
