Hell. No. Doesn't come anywhere near Dissection or Rotting Christ.

You should have used more accurate term as to the denomination of the
style that Graveworm play, which is Melodic Black Gothic Metal.
But it never mind.
Only I think that if you had done so, the answers could have been a bit different then.
Among others I like the band for unique atmosfere of songs which these Italian and partly Germanic musicians create.
I consider Graveworm to be one of the best bands afore mentioned metal genre, but not necessarily the best.

I'm pretty sure they at least would have to play black metal first.

a really nice band of melodic plus symphonic stuffs mixture i've been into so long!
they are a good band ( no need to say "best")
edit: you should try more Hecate Enthroned (U.K) or Elvira Madigan from Sweden

They're not terrible, but not great either. I like some of their stuff, their early stuff is actually pretty good. They do have a knack for some bizarre covers.

As the Angels Reach the Beauty is spectacular, Scourge of Malice is the closest to that. Don't bother with anything after Engraved in Black. That one was lazy enough, though tolerable, it just got worse from there.

For me: one big NO! In fact I think they are one of the worst melo black metal bands as well as Stormlord. Read my review of (N)Utopia for further info about my opinions about them. :nono: Hasn't ppl got taste

I read your review of (N)Utopia. It was pretty good, if not a little harsh. I didn't think this album was THAT bad. But in many respects I agree, mainly because the whole symphonic gothic scene pisses me off. It claims to be Black Metal, but couldn't be much further from it as far as im concerned.
