Hi!

I love songs like:

Annihilator's "Crystal Ann" (Alice In Hell)
Old Man's Child's "In quest of enigmatic dreams" (In defiance of existence)

and Ulver's Kveldssanger album as a whole.

Are there any other bands that play this kind of folk-ish guitar driven stuff?

I also enjoy when a "regular" metal song has a classical guitar in it like at the end of "Crystal Mountain" by Death. If it's played aggressively it gives a nice atmosphere...

Thanks

EDIT: typos

If you like Kveldssanger, check out October Falls acoustic albums -- pretty much exactly the same sound, though lacking vocals, which ultimately makes it a little bland after a while.

The early Funeral (Nor) albums ("Tristesse" and "Tradegies") have lots of wonderful classical guitar interludes, brilliant stuff.

Thank you,

I'll check those out ASAP.

NOTE: non-metal stuff is fine... as long as it sounds like what I mentioned before :) thx

You may also appreciate some Neo-Folk stuff, like :Of The Wand And The Moon: and (some) Sol Invictus. My girlfriend has just got into the former, so I've been hearing lots of them recently. Some lovely guitar work, again vaguely Kveldssanger-esque in places.

And though it's only one brief track, the intro to Unleashed's "Where No Life Dwells" is a lovely classical guitar piece, well worth hearing.

How about Flamenco infused metal, like Flametal and Marc Rizzo's solo stuff.

Yeah, if that works for the OP then definitely get Vinnie Moore's last 2 albums: The Maze & Defying Gravity.

What about Crimson Towers, Into Infinite Obscurity and Feathers Fell from Dissection (Swe)'s The Somberlain? Maybe not that folky but they are really nice classical-based songs. On the more folkish side there is Visor om Slutet by Finntroll, possibly you can find something you like there.

Check Dark tranquillity's The gallery out, it has neo-classical solo's and riffs.

A few of the songs have a classical feel on Dark Tranquillity's Skydancer as well.

I believe you should check out Estatic Fear's A Sombre Dance. Though on Sobnium Obnutum, they use a slight amount of this kind of guitar, A Sombre Dance uses it a lot more.

Hellveto.

Practically every album has classical acoustics incorporated into the majority of the songs.

Yes they did, but they scavenged them from animals that had died naturally. "Viking" is actually an archaic word for "Vegan".

I'm not sure what's being described here is really classical guitar; more like acoustic that isn't blues.

Why not just listen to Segovia and Bream?

Check out Angelrust, there is a master classical guitarist in their lineup.

Eucharist's A Velvet Creation has a few song intros that are classical guitar type stuff. The whole album seems very influenced by classical music and theory.
