I think they are just a rock band with viking-based lyrics.

Wikipedia associates them with the Psychedelic rock, Stoner rock, Hard rock and Progressive rock genres. From what I have heard of them, I'd say hard rock. I have heard their Legend of the World LP (2006), and apart from one song (Heatseeker), it sucked hard. :ugh:

Did you just pull that out of your arse?

A quote from an interview with the band:

Quote:
"You read reviews about us and some people call us 'biker metal' or 'Viking metal,' but they don't have a clue about us," band leader Valient Thorr said as he and his bandmates drove to Atlanta. "We don't ride bikes and our story has nothing to do with Vikings

They're a Hard Rock band. I have one of their albums, and one song is flat out AC/DC worship. Not a bad thing at all though.

In my media player, I have them under the Stoner category.

They're a sick band. Very fun, lots of stage presence and enthusiasm.

They're a hard rock band basically.

When I saw them open for Motorhead, they sucked soooooooooo hard. I had never heard of them before, and I was not impressed at all. I mostly just went outside and smoked during their whole set.

At least I only had to sit through them, and not Misfits as well. That would have been torture.

Motorhead was worth all that BS, though. Trust Lemmy to salvage any situation. :P

I saw them open for Fu Manchu, and, honestly, the best part was when they were missing around with amps and feedback at the beginning of the gig. I was pretty much stoned out of my skull, but I don't think that made a huge difference.

And you actually liked Fu Manchu better?

But then again, you are entitled to your opinion.

No, in my recollection Fu Manchu sucked pretty hardcore too, I was just way too stoned to care at that point.

This.

They were awful. Just a shitty hard rock band basically writing and playing terribly generic shit.
