Don't say that! You'll jinx the Hobbit films (there are a fair few retarded elves in the Hobbit - namely the laughing and singing retards of Rivendell).

When I saw this thread, I immediately thought "balls?". Then when I saw the OP, I realized that my assumption was correct.
As cool as old Sabbath is, that shit reeks of Hot Topic-ness.

I'm glad I'm not alone on this. Although because the white stripes make it notably more dirty looking when they're dirty, I'v opted for just all black adidas suprestars.

As for Converse All-Stars, they're classics in any youth sub-culture since the shoe's inception.

Are you trying to say that Dio needs a pair of the white ones? :p

Wow... there is a lot of hate towards Converse. I haven't owned a pair of Converse since 1989. I still think the Vol. 4 ones are pretty cool.

It's either black DC's for me currently, or these:

I wear the Dewalt's more at the mo, steel toe lined with Goretex.
I wouldn't be seen dead in Converse no matter how trendy. Just not my thing.

This pretty much does it for me. I have been using this kind of shoes for years, they are confortable, water proof and I wear them nearly everyday. I'm actually wearing that very model right now.

After having the big toenail ripped off (I forget which foot, twice now.. the first time was when I was fighting with my cousin and she shoved open the door I was holding shut... Yelp!) at my first ever metal festival, I vowed never to wear trainers/sneakers/running/skate shoes, whateverthefuck you call em, at a gig again.

I learnt that 20 stone gorillas in monkey boots wander around and one happened to step back and scrape the heel of his boot over the top of my shoe and take off the nail.. that same year my best mate got his nose broken by a misguided elbow to the face, pure accident.

Therefore.. I'm now one of the gorillas.. although, very far from 20 stone :P

These are the only ones I have, besides a pair of white ones for gym and silly leather shoes for school which I hate. I don't buy any more because I have weird, really wide feet, and it takes hours for me to get a good pair that fits well.

And converse are gay, here those are the only ones those stupid emos wear.

I don't wear shoes anymore because I've had an ankle injury thats resulted in numerous metal plates and screws, so I need the added support a boot provides.

I quite like some of them, others are ass ugly. Maybe if I see the Vol. 4 or SS ones at the mall I will pick them up. Really wish they had a Sabbath Bloody Sabbath version, as that was my favorite album.

On the topic of shoes, most of the time I am wearing these:

Classic.

I don't find them metal at all, maybe the last one. I prefer boots in the vein of army, short of long.

Coverse Chuck Taylors are not merely a staple of counterculture fashion--they also happen to be very good footwear for weightlifting.

Docs are definitely classic--I just wish they weren't so fucking expensive. From what I understand, over in England they cost only a third of what we pay for them here.

personally i think the whole band imprint on shoes like vans or chuck taylors are really things that scream POSER!. yeah if you wanna buy them buy them but to me these days this whole band on your shoes stuff is what the emo and scene kids buy to look cool and just know stuff from the greatest hits cd's. ill just stick to my band tees

I think that despite the history behind converses the above is most likely the case, imo.

Personally I prefer black boots, whether they be combats or otherwise. The past five years all I've worn are a pair of black backpacking boots. They were about 100 bucks when I bought them and are sturdy as fuck as they've been through hell and back the last five years and are only now starting to fall a part (heals worn out, back of them pealing/wearing off).

They are pretty absurdly expensive, for sure. My plain Air Wair were 118 bucks. Funny how my Industrial Work Docs were only 90 and they can take a lot more punishment.

What is weird though, is it seems like because of how expensive they are, they are now a status symbol or something. During the summer when I wear them with shorts I will have people at work tell me all the time how impressive it is that I have docs. In fact, I once had a guy specifically call me over to point out to his wife that those are DMs and how those are what he wants. That alongside countless 'where did you buy them' questions.

I have a pair of black Vans that I love and those fuckers are indestructable. I even threw them in fire and all they got was a damn smudge...or maybe that was what was in my mind at 3 in the morning.
