Hey, delurking to ask a question I've been curious about.

Ever-interested in exposure to new bands - new underground bands as well as scene bands - I've noticed that a lot of bands I am now into were actually openers for bigger names (personal examples include Iced Earth, Cult of Luna, Zeke, Brand New Sin, and Averse Sefira). So, I've been looking around for some kind of database that at least mentions bands other bands have toured with.

Does anyone know of any such database that exists?

No, but this is an interesting idea.

I think this could be a useful add-on for MA. Instead of having to re-compile a massive list of bands. There could just be a Tours tab, if the bands are in the archives the names could be linked.

On a side note, that would open the door for live reviews.

S&C seems more appropriate for this.

Some sort of 'past tours' section wouldn't be too bad. Getting the formatting and rules right might be hard, and it would require a fair bit of moderation but I think it'd be a sweet idea, and it'd make MA even more comprehensive.

Well, I didn't know for sure if something like this existed at all, which is why I put it here rather than in the Suggestions forum.

On the other hand, if such a thing doesn't exist, may I suggest we make one? :D

Sounds like a great idea. We'll have to wait and see what the mods think about it, though.

The idea of a tour section has been brought up a few times before. That's a rather huge undertaking and it would be a bitch to keep updated and accurate. Or are you suggesting simply a listing of past tour lineups without dates? More manageable I suppose, thought somewhat less useful.

Anyway, it would be a cool feature, but yeah, a lot of work so... if we do decide to do it eventually, it wouldn't be anytime soon, sorry. V3?

hellblazer, it could be something that only veterans and above could submit too? This would help keep it from getting too "messy" and should, hypothetically speaking, keep it accurate. I think this is an important road to go down in a later version.

I think it's more that the amount of work needed to keep it updated (not just accurate, though that is certainly important) would be a substantial addition to the already immense workload that the admins, mods and even the veteran users already must contend with on MA.
