"The centerpiece of their appearance will be an epic collaborative black metal ritual called Úlfsmessa, which will see ten members of the sect rotating through swaths of ambience and aggression together and alone, conjuring the kind of darkness of which most of us can can only dream. We’ll also have the opportunity to see each of the Úlfsmessa conspirators break off and present their own interpretations of evil, as Roadburn welcomes Naðra (Thursday, April 14), NYIÞ (Friday, April 15) and Grafir (Saturday, April 16) into the fold for this year’s event.
As the one and only Walter Roadburn explains, “We want to give these bands the opportunity as well to connected with the international Roadburn community, as part of Misþyrming being Roadburn’s 2016 artist in residence. We strongly believe that Naðra, NYIÞ and Grafir are part of these young Icelandic black metal musicians that are currently reshaping the genre.”
There are many ways to experience darkness, and thanks to these four quite different but wholly connected bands, Roadburn 2016 will be treated to a first-hand view into the abyss. The elusive NYIÞ will appear, horns and candles in hand, to present an droning aural experience unlike nothing you’ve ever seen before, even within Roadburn’s wide boundaries. Grafir’s dirty post-punk-influenced take on the genre will surely smear some grime on the proceedings, while Naðra join the ranks of Svartidauði, Sinmara, and their brothers in Misþyrming as one of Iceland’s finest examples of raw black metal art."http://www.roadburn.com/2015/11/nadra-n ... residency/
