RIYL: High On Fire, Botch, Mastodon

Static Tension Recordings is pleased to announce that they will be releasing the debut album of Kansas City's SHARP WEAPONS. The album will be released on digital and vinyl formats on May 27th 2016.

Adding a punk rock sensibility to an appetite for heavy riffs, Kansas City's rising post-hardcore outfit SHARP WEAPONS fuses the sounds of Every Time I Die, Botch, and High On Fire to create an intense combination that kicks you in the teeth.

Sharp Weapons' hard-hitting self-titled début LP is an organic, visceral blend of progressive/post-hardcore elements that reflects their no-frills interpretation of heavy music. Unpredictable and explosive, each song takes you on a journey of shifting rhythms and controlled aggression that will leave you wanting more.

The well-oiled machine of guitarist Josh Simcosky, drummer Brett Southard, and bassist Justin Mantooth (also a producer/engineer who has recorded and mixed records for Family, Godmaker, Bummer, and Radkey), has been playing together on and off for over ten years in bands such as Auternus, Steal The Sun, Doris and Leering Heathens. Together they serve as the perfect backdrop for charismatic, gloriously chaotic frontman Jimmy Wing (ex-Runaway Sons).

With a high energy live set that is both powerful and precise, Sharp Weapons has more than held its own on stages with bands such as Soulfly, Snot, Lord Dying, He is Legend, The Esoteric & many more. Listen to a track at this location: https://sharpweapons.bandcamp.com/album/sharp-weapons-lp
