BANE (Serbia) Interview by http://www.wintertorment.com

Image

By Patrick

Metal hails welcome to the first interview of 2013!! it is with Serbia's Bane!! this is my second interview with Branislav and Bane. The band released their second cd "The Accusal Fire" through the great U.S Label Abyss records. if you are a fan of dissection, and european black/death defintly check this quality band out soon!! expect alot of great interviews, reviews coming up very soon. regards, patrick and winter torment web-zine

Interview with Branislav (lead, acoustic guitars & vocals) from Bane done by Patrick

1.Metal hails Branislav! how is your new year starting out? Please introduce yourself to the readers

Hails Patrick! Pretty good, thanks. Currently just taking a break from all band activities, to be honest.
Well, I am Branislav, vocalist & guitarist, also main composer & lyricist for Black/Death Metal band BANE. I am the only original member of the band, and been going through lots of problems since to 2006 in order to keep the black flame burning...but here we are, in 2013, still going strong

2.When did you and the other members of Bane first meet? What is the current line up? For the readers who have never heard Bane's music how would you best describe it?

Speaking about the last line-up, well...Nokkturno (keyboards, backing vocals, ex-bass) and I met back in 2005 I guess, we use to play in a Doom/Death Metal band called Senium. I met Lukas (guitars) a while back as well, while he was (and still is) playing in his Melodic Death Metal band Dark Dawn which was a while back as well, but entered the band in 2012. Bojan (bass) and I met about 2-3 years ago, I guess the local Metal scene ot us connected, while Marko (drums) was actually a total stranger until our first gig together as a band in April 2012 haha. It was our good friend Goran from SMF Promotions who got us to know each other.
BANE's music is straight-forward Black/Death Metal, more Swedish styled I'd say - influenced by the great mid 90's scene. Put short - like Dissection? Then check us out, but don't expect a copy-cat or poor rip-off.

3.Bane recently released their second cd "The Accusal Fire" through abyss records, how long did it take the band to write and record the songs for this release? Are you and the band members happy with how everything turned out? how would you say the music has changed since your debut release if at all?

Hmm...Well I had already started some sketches for the second album when our first album was released, which means late 2010. The album was entirely recorded in November 2011 but released a year later, so more or less it took me about a year of processing before having the final result which can now be heard.
Of course we are all satisfied with how everything turned out - bunch of great reviews, positive feedback from the people, new fans coming in on a daily basis since we've unleashed the beast from it's cave.
Our music simply progressed, just like all mature bands have every album sounding better than the previous. My worst nightmare is to write the same album twice, and if that one day does happen, for me that will be the sign to stop with music, at least for a while. Simply put, every aspect of the new album is far better than the first.

4.How has the response been from the press and the fans?

Amazing, really. I don't know what to say more, only a big THANK YOU to all of the review writers so far from all around the world (literally, from the USA to Japan) and to the people who gave us, among a sea of great bands, a listen and enjoyed the new record.

5.Does the band have many tours/shows planned for 2013 in support of "The Accusal Fire" or will you start working on new music, take a break? If Bane is planning some tours/shows where are some places you will be playing?

Contrary to the usual touring schedule of the band, which was - gigs, festivals, tours, and round we go - no live activities are planned in 2013, at least not in this very moment. Truth be told, after 3 European Tours, countless club shows & Festivals in over 10 countries, I am taking a break from all that stress regarding band management (since I manage the band myself), and prefer to take it easy from now on. I am slowly working on the 3rd full-length album, which will probably be released sometime in 2014, if all goes well.

6.Who are some bands Bane has had shared the stage with?If you could set up a dream show/tour who are some bands you would love to tour/play with? any particular countries you want to play?

We shared stages with some really amazing acts, such as Malevolent Creation, Decapitated, Sodom, Inquisition, Root, etc...
Hm, I don't know, really...I guess by now al the bands that I would really like to see live have more or less nothing in common with BANE, so it would be a little awkward to share stages with them...so speaking of bands that are similar genre to us, it would be Dark Funeral, Naglfar and Thulcandra.
As for coutries - personally would to play in all of them hehe, but something in particular...perhaps Russia and the United States, but for a small band like us to Tour in such big countries, not likely gonna happen, at least not sometime soon.

7.Bane comes out of Serbia's metal underground, their seems to be a small {but growing} metal growing scene in Serbia would you agree? What is your opinion of the metal scene in Serbia?

At this time being, I have distanced myself from the "Serbian Metal Scene", as from my personal point of view there is no scene there, nor will there every be. Only individuals, doing their best to make something happen for themselves, and I respect that. I've talked about this subject too many times in earlier interviews, and do not really want to share my thoughts again on this. Those who know, know.

8.Who are your all-time favorite serbian metal bands? Are their any new metal bands coming out of serbia you think the readers should check out soon?

Bands that I personally listen to and like very much that come from Serbia are extremely rare, but if I have to mention a few that I like then: Draconic, Infest, Through Art, Ancient Sorrow, Shadowdream, and a few others which I can't think of right now.

9.What does the term underground metal mean to you?

Underground culture is just a tag for us (in this case) Metal-heads, to label our music - as "underground", which in fact is, and forever will be. Simply put, Extreme Metal will always be underground, cannot and will not find it's way up to the mainstream zone (and when I say "mainstream" I don't mean it as something to be bad by default), but the music we listen and enjoy is not meant to be, let's just say "accepted" by a large number of people over the globe. Underground music is sound for the strong, particular individuals, who somehow connect with other individuals with similar interests no matter from waht country they are from, nor what race they are, what language they speak, etc...

10. Besides Bane are you or any of the other members currently playing with any other bands or side-projects? If yes please tell the readers a little about them

Currently my only active side-project is an Alter Rock band called KEYCHAIN. We have released our first single a few months back, and now are currently working on our first full-length album, which will hopefully be released sometime later this year. This is totally different stuff than what I usually did present to listeners, so give it a shot: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8a3HDGoDggw

11.When you are not working on music/band business, what do you enjoy doing in your spare time?

Everything that is related to music - listening to music, searching for new bands, buying and collecting CD's & Tapes, etc...apart from that I love to record, mix and master recordings. Also like to do live sound engineering...music is my life, really.

12. Well branislav we have reached the end of the interview, thank you for taking the time to fill out this interview. Do you have final comments for the readers of winter torment?

Pat, thank YOU very much for the support. Man if I remember correctly we first spoke about 3 years back when we released our first EP, so the support is much appreciated my friend. You are a true warrior of the underground Metal scene, we need more of them like you. All the best my friend & thanks again for everything. HAIL CHAOS!

BANE (Serbia) "The Acausal Fire" DIGI CD review by http://www.masterful-magazine.com

Image

By Wouter

Serbia doesn’t have much presence on the international metal map. Bane is the first band from that country to reach higher levels of prominence thanks to their recent signing with American label Abyss Records. It’s probably not too surprising that they were picked up by Abyss records, given the distinct worship nature of this recording. "The Acausal Fire" presents a tried-and-true take on Swedish sounding death/black metal. Like Wan’s "Wolves Of the North" was an extended lovenote to both early Bathory and Hellhammer, Bane has set its gaze on Sweden. Much of the record is in tradition of established second-tier outfits as Sacramentum, Soulreaper and pre-"Reinkaos" era Dissection. There’s a very Stockholm-ish vibe about this material, even though Bane obviously doesn’t hail from those parts. Making the connections even more obvious is the fact that "The Acausal Fire" includes a cover of the Dissection classic ‘Night’s Blood’. On the whole "The Acausal Fire" is a serviceable genre record, but hardly one that will reignite this subgenre in its entirety. Nevertheless, those who long for the classic Swedish death/black metal sound will find a lot to like here. Definitely worthwhile.

DAEMONICUS (Sweden) Interview by Satans Razor Blog

Image

By Satans Razor Blog

Thanks for taking time to answer my questions it’s a real honor!

1 How was the tour? Did you guys get along great?

We did a Balkan tour with the Polish band Christ Agony in april/may witch was really awesome. We were support act for the legendary Asphyx! It was our second tour in the Balkans, first tour was in 2010 with Negura Bunget, and the people there are really great.

2 What is currently happening in Daemonicus

We just released our second full length album, entitled “Deadwork” thru the American based company Abyss Records. And we are starting to book some shows for 2013.

3 Aside from Daemonicus what are your interest?

Besides our families we all got different musical side projects that we play in. Sanity of Impiety, Hate Ammo and Flagellant to mention a few.

4 How has the response been to the new album so far?

The response has been really great! And we are very pleased with the whole production on this album. We recorded everything accept the drums in our own C.C.H.B. studio and Ronnie Björnström did the mix and master. We recorded our EP “11 th Hour” in our own studio as well and that is something that works really great for us. To have the possibility to let the album develop in the studio.

5 Any particularly shows you are looking forward more to?

We are always looking forward to play live! To meet all the metal heads out there and party is really why we do our music. We just been confirmed to play at the House of Metal festival 2013 and that I am really looking forward to.

6 You recently was booked for a Swedish festival House of metal how does it feel to be able to play along big names like Tankard Mayhem etc?

Yeah, as I said we are really looking forward to play there. Last time we played at the House of Metal was in their first year 2007 and since then the festival just keep on growing! And it´s in our home city so it´s always something special to play there.

7 Are you guys still rocking with your same endorsement or is there any new brands in Daemonicus

We pretty much use the same gear but we are always open for suggestions, hahaha!

8 Are there any new places you would like visit for 2013?

Yes we are planning a Western European tour for 2013 so I am looking forward to that. Stay tuned for more info about that!

9 ? Final Question do you have any message to your fans?

Just listen to the fucking metal and we see you guys on the road!!
Thanks for taking the time to answer my questions !
Thank you/ Pike, Daemonicus

DESULTOR (Sweden) Interview by http://www.heavymetal.hu

Image

By Redhead

First of all, could you tell me something about Desultor? I don’t really know much about your background. Where did this idea come from to start this band?

We come from Stockholm, Sweden. I started the band in 2006 and started the band by very simple reasons... I love to play Metal and play my own my music so I decided to start a hip hop band called Desultor.

What’s the meaning of the word Desultor? After my knowledge they were horse riders in the roman empire.

Hey, cmon... Eveybody asks us that. Nobody asks Metallica or Megadeth what their band names mean? But sure no worries, I can tell you what Desultor means... Jack shit. The inspiration comes from a spider art that is called in latin ’’Liphistious Desultor”. I just thought it sounded brutal so I kept it.

Could you describe the lyrical themes in a few sentences?

The lyrics from the Masters of Hate album is all about the dark side in life which we all experience in alot of different dimensions. Like everything else there is a backside...
In next album you will find out all about it since it is a sequal to the first album.
It will continue the story with chapter 3 and 4, and maybe even 5.
I can already tell you the next album is named ’’W.A.R - (Worlds And Religions)”.

Have you got a favourite track from the album?

It variates from time to time... Some periods I find a song from the album that particulary fits well for listening depending on the mood and emotions I feel in the moment. It’s an album that grows in to you every time you listen to it... It’s hard to like it on the first listening.

How is it going with Ibrahim? Do you like to work with him?

Nope. He’s a pain in the ass... But I love him anyway, we are like brothers.

Do you have any plans for playing alive? If yes, would you use session artists on your side or you’d rather use samplers for the rest of the instruments?

We will use session musicians for live but we have alot of personal issues going on right now so we can’t play live for the moment.

Is there any chance for a new record in the future?

Yes.

I’m pretty interested about your lyrics. It’s cool because they are easy to understand but I’m sure that they all have meaning in the background. What is "And so we bleed…" about?

And so we bleed is about the age and society here in Stockholm and propably alot of other societys and cities is going trough today.
We teach our children trough tv, newspapers and parenting to hate and grow up as a miserable fuck and belive in the system that you should be a slave to it and follow a specific pattern this society have created for you:
Get a boring job, follow fashion, act normal, obey the law, pay taxes, dont think for your self etc and follow this pattern. If you do anything else it’s wrong, and you are evil and stupid.
We in Desultor belive that you are a free man and we will tell you more about it in the next album.

How would you describe Desultor’s music? Could you name the style of it?

Hipidy hop salsa-country Techno.

If you had a chance to play together with one of your favourite artists, who would be that?

I have alot of favourite artists... It would be awesome to play with Robyn or Röyksopp some day or maybe Laleh.
I dont have that many favourite artists in metal music, I just love to play it.

Do you have any other bands or projects?

I just started a very awesome Death Metal band named ’’Los Perkeles” together with an amazing super drummer called German from Burning Darkness.
It’s very old school but yet very brutal and and extreme with growl on the vocals this time and no singing.

Have you got a job?

I just got fired from my job couple of months ago after six years in the post office.
I was to much sex, drugs and rock n roll for them I guess... You got a job for me?

Tell about your hobbies please!

Play Soccer, shooting pool, swimming, playing arcade or video games, smoke some of the holy plant, porn, learning new instruments, basketball, laser games, parlour games, HBO series, read and write philosophy, food, sex, music and raping old cats.

Would you send a message to the fans here in Hungary?

Dont drink and bake.

Markus, thanks again for your time! Best wishes!

Thank you and the same to you!

DESULTOR (Sweden) "Masters of Hate" CD / LP review by heavymetal.hu

Image

By Redhead

Nowadays it is not at all surprising thing about the various types of metal music fusion experiment. The Swedish Desultor named duo did just that - not even slightly - the first album, which is the Master of Hate address to listen to. relatively (as yet) unknown team you should know that in 2007 and evolution since this is the first album by two modest demo preceded the 2008, 2009 years. The Machinery of fans will not be unknown Johan Markus (vocals, guitar) are not called. The drums of a Srtahlman Ibrahim guy named sat, whose precise, dynamic interplay, here, in the very beginning to draw attention. I do not cut corners in the thirty lábdobokkal, blastbeatekkel and incredible bushings. The disc is a short, meaningless intro after a huge explosion as the energy begins to Black Monday in the form of songs. There's everything: the death metal elements from the oriental szólórészekig effect. No longer in the fukarkodnak progresszivitással. Markus fast file musical instruments, vocals and many places to remind Warrel Dane. However, he could not take the mood to listen to more of the disk, although not specifically Nevermore am a fanatic. All this is followed by eight more powerful songs, which are characterized by a better, more gripping moments. Advanced, progressive death metal, this would be the best, but not quite! Because the disk is almost completely ignores the grunts, which does not necessarily matter if the songs are considered the overall picture. Both parties hear a professional job, in many parts of milling, foot drum, all in a professional manner, on an energetic front. I could say that I picked up my head against the Division Insane away, and we bleed ... And so on, but it would put me in the emergency situation, you can begin to slowly list the entire track list. This is one explanation: the material shattered huge and very strong! I do not feel the need to highlight any special song, because it is a time to another losing all strength. The guys did not hesitate, they are written in different styles drawing on the themes developed in perfection, and the creation of the Masters of Hate fusion. say at the album in no way fun. Blessed-one subjects ünneplos not expect, but more chills and musical energy. Another plus point is the master duo, in contrast to the other colleagues did not make the mistake that their songs long, boring would be lowered. The album is very good sikeredett The Luxury Of Pain song, none other than four minutes to go over. The total playing time is only 34 minutes. korcsízlésu In the music world, to create something that is valuable and enduring very difficult. In particular, if we are talking about a young team. I think that it was Desultornak. I wish good luck to them! Way to go, go, guys!

DAEMONICUS (Sweden) "Deadwork" CD review by snoozecontrol

Image

By Tom

Deamonius, a presumably unknown name to many readers but we want them just to introduce myself. The group is from Sweden and has been producing since 2006 nothing death metal. Their lyrics are therefore not kalverliefdes and peaceful events but rather about death and killing.

If your death metal produces must keep in mind that it is always innovating to sound. If you already six years is the same as the many groups then you are doomed to failure and that this group has a lot of thought. By adding new elements and new sounds they came again surprising the corner with this new album. They use the sound from the 90s with mid-tempo produced death metal sounds. A nice mix.

But what strikes me most, and enjoy doing in this band are the various riffs that they bring. These create a kind of unique feeling while listening and let the hair on my body upright. Great, formidable! If you want to find the riffs even then I can recommend the following tracks : "The Grandeur of Total Termination," "We Feast on Your Flesh" and "Blood Red November."

Conclusion: a school death metal band, you do not expect this band when their album in the CD player places. With their machtigege scream and roar schelder that many restaurant late breaking glass and the shrill guitar riffs in the positive sense of the word, these men an icy shiver behind us bearskin.

ENTRENCH (Sweden) "Inevitable Decay" CD review by http://www.flightofpegasus.gr

Image

By Flight of Pegasus

In the optimistic title, the content, however, reveals strong action. The quartet from Sweden released his first album and make it available to friends of thrash eight pieces of metal the workout. With riffs from the great book of its kind, the band inspired by the fury of the first representatives of the idiom, perhaps a little more than Kreator , without ignoring the great rhythmic school of the United States. There are something you have not heard before, but with all that good energy required. Playing with the brutalization that should govern the idiom in its true form, stimulated by addition of normal amounts of dopamine and therefore are sympathetic. The nice anampoumpoula generated can be first-class score for the relief you. If you look to improve their sound, it is likely to draw more attention to them just as mad.

ANGREPP (Sweden) "Warfare" DIGI CD review by http://www.queensofsteel.com

Image

By Tania Giménez

The album opens with a intro war very much in line with the cover work, a soldier, tank and bloodied people to make way for the first cut of the album itself, "Five Horned Formation." With only hear the beginning, with some Thrash riffs with an air rock n 'Punk Rock or very old school, you know what is going to wait. Based largely Thrash (also make it clear in those aforementioned guitar riffs and vocals, though they could fit perfectly into a group of Death) and a clear influence of Black Metal, especially the battery, but what most have to BM is aggressiveness.
The battery at all times is constant and not a single standard governs, and that sometimes sounds as raw as a band like Black Metal and Punk quite some time, like any old band from the Bay Area.

The truth is that there is too much to mention: I had already heard this before, but what they do wrong, the result is quite satisfying and enjoyable. Also, if there are so many groups of this style, it is clear that this is because gender is a triumph, even more if oozes old-school spirit.
An album that will appeal to both fans of Thrash and Black.

BANE (Serbia) "The Acausal Fire" DIGI CD review by Nocturne Magazine

Image

By Marko Ristic

Since the first album, " Chaos, Darkness & Emptiness "was engaged in a real revolution in our dull extreme metal scene, a lot's happened up to the moment when the band released their second album" The Acausal Fire. "

Which current status of the band, you have the exclusive right to read in Branislavovoj column , and what is it that "The Acausal Fire" provides over 42 minutes it takes, you can read in the lines that follow.

I had a chance to hear this album long before there was a final version, which is now packed and I can tell you that he already aspired to be one of the best works by the country of Serbia had the opportunity to give, of course, that the extreme Regarding metal scene.

"The Acausal Fire" throughout the ten tracks provides an excellent combination of black and death metal genres, destroying the membrane of your stereo or whatever they were. Excellent production, and this time it was done in the Czech Hellsound study under the watchful eye of Honza's eyelid, but all would not be so good that you guys have not managed to make an album that at least can stand shoulder to shoulder with all the bands that are celebrate this direction.

Most influence continues to have by Dark Funeral and Dissection school with what Bane his style permeates much more melodic and more receptive wider audiences. The vocals on this album are immeasurably better than the first edition, although it is pretty well gone by international critics. Arranger, Bane has gone one step forward and what he did with this album. Dunk drums and double pedals, great riffs and, again to mention, great vocals make this album certainly found at the top of the charts extreme metal fans.

If you had the chance to ever see this band live, you understand how professionally approached everything they do, so from that side you will not wonder what "The Acausal Fire" sounds like powerful.

Is a pity that the question of whether this band will ever have another chance to watch live , but we all hope that this is not the last thing to come from this band.

CORROSIVE CARCASS (Sweden) "Composition of Flesh" CD review by Chaos Vault

Image

By Oracle

After a great demo Swedish butchers of Corrosive Carcass finally released their debut album. Since we are in the Chaos Vault strongly support, can not do without the exposure for the subject, which is "Composition Of Flesh".

Corrosive Carcass in his spare time involved in cleaving skulls with heavy death metal - if you do not wywnioskowaliscie wygooglowaniu by its cover or a band name. Their first major album is thirteen songs in the style that perfectly przypasuje lupanine lovers under the sign of Autopsy, Grave and Finnish teams Abhorrence style. Oldskulowe, great sound though, maybe not as rough as the demo "Rot.In.Pieces", but still kicks the ass mercilessly. I still think that the creators of "Severed Survival" is for young Swedes greatest inspiration - just listen to the issue of "Collector" fucking hideous, diverse, where quiet twang guitar is a great (and strangely disgusting) rabanki primitive counterpoint to what is right thereafter. Besides Corrosive Carcass does not avoid placing patients melody of their music which, despite its repulsywnego character beats his head as individual closed coffin and buried alive. All the better that with such treatment this album is not boring, well - at least I do not get bored, because it's like someone is bored after napierdalanie hammer toes, yet it is such an enjoyable activity, haha! Seriously, it's Corrosive Carcass perfectly captures the atmosphere of old death metal of the nineties, with pilujacymi at different rates guitars, deep growl, like that extracts from the well (I love the use of echo) and great acting rhythm section.

I Corrosive Carcass did not disappoint, and if it were not the remains of nails and smooth out the blood, I would say - a material that lick your fingers ...

RADIATION SICKNESS (U.S.) "Reflections of a Psychotic Past" CD review by Aristocrazia Webzine

Image

By Mourning

The reasons for which a band decides to discontinue the business for two decades and then suddenly reborn and finally debut are possible: sometimes it is only the desire to play, others lead to the conclusion speeches undertaken and never really realized, others thought that the time is right. Which of these reasons, or a different one, may have pushed the Radiation Sickness to return to life does not matter, finally after having produced two demos, two p and two split up in 1990, has been churned out a first album that provides the new material and the old re-recorded. The tracks from the number eight until the nineteen originally belong to the second ep "The Other Me - A Journey Into Insanity", let's see how putting the situation.
's line up now consists of Doug Palmer on vocals, Tom Ball on guitar and backing vocals, Mike Herald to beat the skins and Byron Holton on bass. The boys have decided not to look ahead for any reason, the proposal retro, retro attitude, from where they left off back on, so they make a clear distinction between the material produced odiernamente and what is the past "repainted" for the occasion is useless, and so the only solution.
pressure, the genuine instinct, elementary and sometimes even a little 'scontatella tracks in more than one occasion seem to be saying "we are here to play what we like, nothing more ". The names that rotate as influence to bring in for the most part are death Napalm Death, Autopsy (it is clear the reference to "Tripping On The Seas Of Madness") but it is not the only death the territory explored, we find in most tracklist a song that could be part of, and more, out of which monicker DRI and Cryptic Slaughter, and I quote "Demented Love Song." In the second part, however, more than one title has that kind of impression, as this would be a strangely Stooges rocking style that makes its way through a series of riffs and starts merciless in "Escape To Insanity."
We're probably out of time. In what way? Released twenty years ago, "Reflections Of A Psychotic Past" would have had a greater exposure at this time seems to be rather more than before the nth discrete "operation nostalgia" that you put on the stereo godendotela but from which come attracted to ' moment and then forget about it shortly after, due to the countless number of similar proposals circulating in the revival.
Certainly, this is not just that we talk about revival, date of birth registry is in favor of Radiation Sickness, pleasure-even if the result slightly above average is instead just a taste of what could be achieved in the future, then we'll see what they will be able to offer.
For now recommend the possible purchase of "Reflections Of A Psychotic Past" exclusively to users of obsessive-compulsive album of similar mold, make available to the remaining hearing and ponderino to do.

HUMANGLED (Italy) "Odd Ethics" CD EP review by http://www.metaltalk.net

Image

By Jools Green

After releasing their debut full length album, 'Fractal', in 2010, Italy's Humangled return with a four track EP, 'Odd Ethics'. It pretty much follows in that same quirky vein as 'Fractal' but this time they recorded as a five piece, adding an extra guitar, which has given an more depth to the sound.

What you can expect from 'Odd Ethics', as well as with their previous full length, is traditional, no frills death Metal. They keep it simple and rely on well constructed songs to keep your interest, along with plenty of tempo change. They also work into their sound a lot of other influences such as doom and thrash in quite interesting ways.
The vocals are quite broad spectrum, ranging from a deep guttural sound to a higher pitched snarl. The guitars are chugging, dirty and slightly distorted and prone to a bit of a higher pitched squeal at times.

All four tracks are consistently just over the three minute mark and the total length is only around the fourteen minute mark so no excuses for giving it two or three listens in succession, which I strongly recommend, just to get the feel of the music.

The opening track, 'Needles Of The Blind', is a straight forward death Metal track with a lot of tempo change, executed in such a way that, on first listen, you are never quite sure where the song will take you.

Next, 'Skinned To Feel All', is a great chunk of death and roll, with a strange, slightly off kilter, yet very hypnotic sludge/doom groove throughout its entirety.

The third track, 'Smells Acrid', is much faster with a brutal edge. It also has a catchy, groove to the chorus.

Lastly, 'Deny Your Creed' is an interesting blend of death and thrash with lurching rhythms, fast chugging riffs and a multitude of tempo changes, keeping it interesting end to end.

This is an exciting EP and a great way to experience Humangled and if you like it you can always give 'Fractal' a listen too.

'Odd Ethics' is out now on Abyss Records.

FETUS STENCH (Sweden) "Stillbirth" CD review by Aristocrazia Webzine

Image

By Mourning

Sweden, which deliberately does not sound Swedish, speak of the Fetus Stench, military training in which today's drummer Norse Blood Red Throne Emil Wiksten and where we find the underground Scandinavian names known as Bullen and Björte which are both part of reality thrash Inferior, with the first also in the line-up of The Law (always a thrash band), while the only Illern do not know the past (apparently seems to have been part of the split Anti Christian Death Squad).
The group has focused his gaze overseas drawing mostly by the brutality made ??in the USA to give substance to debut "Stillbirth" Morbid Angel, Cannibal Corpse, Suffocation and partly in their time more inclined to thrash the malevolent figure of Mr. Phil Fasciana Malevolent Creation and its echo and re-echo all ' interior of a benefit that is not lost behind frills, is not sought, also based its existence on the hammer, disintegrate and break everything that stands against.
's rhythmic system imposed by Emil and Bullen is those who maintain high blood pressure and constant, drummer launches into blastati continue using the mid-tempo to give depth, guitars and Illern Björte shove a riff after another as if they had remained pleasantly fossilized in the nineties and the second, also a man behind the microphone , stands on the pieces with a growl viscous and brutal.
's nothing new you say? And those who seek him? The Fetus Stench randellano piallano and that is a pleasure, songs like "Breenkommando", "The Outer Island", "Bashed, Defaced And Disfigured" more than enough to make the idea.
The concept is as simple as you want, there are Swedes asking: do you want death metal pure and unpretentious? If the answer should be yes, "Stillbirth" will end up in the collection, in the case of mental saws, thoughts or phrases such as "it is too standard / derivative", I would remind you that we are in 2012 and 1995 (last year of excellence of 'old school) is beautiful now that's gone!

HUMANGLED (Italy) "Odd Ethics" CD EP review by Aristocrazia Webzine

Image

By Mourning

The Tuscans Humangled we had left in 2010 after being interviewed and having reviewed the debut album "Fractal", you will find links and references to both items in the lists of competence.
A recur after two years with a renewed line up three-fifths, the two figures were Goreds founder Andrew (vocals) and Luke Scurb (guitar), there is now the presence of a second guitarist, Vhell Miscarriage, and a rhythm section that sees Frank Nichols (bass) and Valdester (battery ) play the roles that they belonged in the past to Tat0 and Raffaele Pezzella, will therefore be changed something at the level of sound? The fifteen minutes of the ep poor "Odd Ethics" say so.
nature linked to the names of the old guard was not corrupt, we are always dealing with an education that loves the period between the end of the eighties and early nineties but while following the philosophy concerning the wickedness and management of influences, many recognizable from Carcass to Autopsy, through our own territories, drawing perhaps unconsciously by the great act of black / thrash italics as Schizo, it is not deny "progress" while remaining turns away from technical people like Atheist.
's a series of simple structures that gives life to those songs, but that aligns notes to provide that feeling that leads me to use the term progression related to their elementary music and combines tasteful these two aspects emphasizing the parts black and morbid, pieces such as "Skinned, To Feel All" and "Smells Acrid" encapsulate their execution that thought, and being able to cross the schematic composition enclosed with the label "old school".
know The Humangled be heavy and pestilential nell'opener "Needles Of The Blind" as minimalist and unexpected ups and downs in "Deny Your Creed", a song that loosens and tightens grip on more than one occasion.
The growth and even groped want to go beyond what has been developed in antecedence are valuable and logistical support behind the mixing desk, which once again was asked Dan Sweyn, ensures a full sound and a professional hard to call into question that fully supports the intent.
yet another revolution was needed to refresh the sound? Probably yes, and if the result is "Odd Ethics" we welcome those choices.
's hope that the successor of the solid, but a little 'standard, "Fractal" circles early in our ears, quest'ep take as a starting point to build the foundations and in the near future we will have for sure a different story with which we can compare.
The work is still in progress and are going in the right direction, good luck!

The GATES OF SLUMBER (U.S.) "...the Awakening" CD review by http://www.metalcorefanzine.com

Image

By Chris Forbes

Big time Sabbath sound on this. The singer sounds like Ozzy and the band have that Sabbath guitar sound and vibe down to a science. I like some doom, but when the bands are too slow, I mean c’mon, it’s a joke. No such luck with this band. This is very enjoyable doom as the band crank out heavy fuckin tunes and they aren’t at a snail’s pace thank god. The singer has a great voice and he of course fits the band music. If you’re a fan of Sabbath this is a MUST HAVE. Just a killer doom metal band one of the best I have heard in years.

The GARDNERZ (Sweden) "It All Fades" CD EP review by Temple of Doom Metal

Image

By Filipe Soares Pinto

Some time ago, when we look back on 'The System of Nature', referring to the musical background, we could define for this sound that the biggest influence was doom/death of early-90’s. In 2012, 'It All Fades' continues to live up to that benchmark. Things have changed little or nothing, which is not to say that there has been a decrease in the quality of the songs or the band is attached to a formula that will use up untill the limit. Doesn’t look like that, at all. In fact, in some tracks, we can find some groove added to the death metal side of the band - listen to 'Do Not Look Back', opening this EP, and take your conclusions - passing to vestigial the more doomy moments. On the other hand, we also have parts markedly doom but interspersed with passages that appear more aggressive and is not therefore surprising that comes to our head bands like Novembers Doom over these nearly 36 minutes, but especially in 'A Horrible Disease' or ‘Erasing Bad Specimen '.

And the melancholy that is so well mirrored in the version of 'Transilvanian Hunger', here with a female voice, so docile that almost makes you forget the coldness and bleakness of the original. It is, indeed, surprising.

'It All Fades' despite not bring big sound differences, also turns out to not be a misstep, since this handful of compositions eventually cement its action line and know which way they want to trace.

SOUTHWICKED (U.S. / Europe) "Death's Crown" CD review by Pest Webzine

Image

By Adrian

Tampa, Florida based Southwicked are a pretty new name on the Death Metal scene but having Allan west as one of the guitarists and founders will surely attract some attention. Allan's influences is obvious on this debut album, comparison with both Obituary and Six Feet Under cannot be avoided, the riffs are mostly slow to mid-paced, the solos as Obituary styled, and the overall atmosphere is a combination of SFU and Obituary, and all in all Southwicked could be recommended only to fans of the two mentioned bands. The vocals could have changed a bit the situation but they are less versatile than they should have been to bring something new, or there could have been more memorable choruses to make this album a successful one. A good release but not enough to be outstanding, and anyone would have expected more from an Allan West lead band.

ERUPTED (Sweden) "In the Grip of Chaos" CD review by Chaos Vault

Image

By Pathologist

After the pictures gebach Swedish members erupted on youngsters look more, but something in the oven dokurwic already know how. "In the Grip of Chaos" t about the band's debut recording.

In total, the guys have in your account another EP, but they released it under a different name. What podzialo - not scrutinize, and I do not know. But I see and hear more of what is on the first dlugograjacym release. At the beginning of the write that I was playing not kidnapped. Death Metal presented by the Swedes smacks a little moldy biscuit and cheese. Not a bad play, rather cylindrical, with a lot of flavors and combinations, but stuck in such a way that it impresses. I do not suck too broke off for a few consecutive hearings that I was rather tired. Everything correctly, but there is this thing, this jam, which actually can przyjebac the backs of their heads with the power of relationships speeding freight train Gliwice - Warsaw East. The potential is there, because ideas do not appear stupid, vocals puke gore and good places actually moves it all so that we feel gentle tug colon. Team may need a bit of maturity. Maybe it's like the cucumber: malosolne cool, but as a decent ukisza is no fucking whore in the village hehe.

I am generally pleased with the association with this board and I wish the whole team in the new year to the next album, which building clay patted on the head like a good moonshine. Zdrówka!

The GARDNERZ (Sweden) "It All Fades" CD EP review by http://www.kaosguards.com

Image

By Alain Lavanne

After a first album, "The System of Nature", released in 2011, the Swedes THE GARDNERZ returned to the charge with an EP of six tracks.

Always with the ambition to combine the respective weight of two genres: Death Metal classic Scandinavian fashion and Doom Metal. Contrary to what might suggest the formula described above, THE GARDNERZ does not evolve in a register similar to that practiced in their infancy by the pioneers of Doom Death, namely the sacrosanct trinity MY DYING BRIDE, ANATHEMA and PARADISE LOST. The Swedish Death Doom remind me more of a mix between GRAVE and UNLEASHED one hand, melodic elements (simple but effective) specific to traditional Doom other.

The title "A Horrible Disease", we salute even a superb guitar solo, full of bluesy feeling and a sense of melody has become quite rare, and the introduction and break analogs "Melatonin". In the same vein, the recovery of the "Transylvanian Hunger" of DARKTHRONE is striking as a fashion electroacoustic without rhythm but with female vocals poignant surprise, boldness and success!

Each piece has a tip and melodic, instrumental or vocal (alongside some clear voice singing mostly cavernous) that helps aerate the Doom Death with a delicious feeling old school. The question now is: when a second album?

The GATES OF SLUMBER (U.S.) "...the Awakening" CD review by http://www.greekrebels.gr

Image

By Lard Tennis

Recirculation for "... The Awakening", which was first released in 2004. Different company, different artwork, different tracklist and bonus track goodies offered by this recirculation. I got told, I say and I will mataxanapo. I see no reason to re-releases and basically do not polygoustaro. The truth is that I have not heard the Americans very badly. Doom / sludge from Indiana. Hell yeah! The sound turned out of the swamps of the south, the riffs overflowing with the scent of whiskey, his voice drenched in smoke and full of burrs and pain make up the image of the band. The compositions are amazing, not make you bored, and change the order and put one riff after another, changing moods. And the solos are carefully with excess wah and southern style. The album cover extraordinary, something to remind us of Manowar - meets - Conan, with very antrila death. Although I do not like at all the re-releases, I was delighted to hear this album, but unfortunately will be getting points down to this. It is also a pity that I knew before.

BANE (Serbia) Interview by The Wizard of Noz

Image

By Noswal Nevik

1. Start off by introducing yourself and what is your role in your band?

My name is Branislav, I am the founder, vocalist, guitarist, main composer & lyricist for Black/Death Metal BANE.

2. According to what I have seen online Bane is on a bit of a hiatus, can you explain why this is and how long before the band will be active again?

Yes, the thing is that I am now in Montreal, Quebec, Canada where I will be staying to live. Obviously, the rest of the BANE members are still in Europe, which means that live activities are out of question for now. I have no idea when or if the band will continue with live rituals.

3. Tell me a little about the other members of the band? And do any of you play in other bands?

We all have side projects. Marko (drummer) has 2 great Death Metal bands - After Oblivion and Festival Of Mutilation. Lukas (guitarist) has a Melodic Death Metal band called Dark Dawn, Bojan (bassist) plays guitar in his Black/Death Metal band Paimonia while Nokkturno (aka Novelja, keyboards/ex-bassist) together with Lukas and I have an Alter Rock band called Keychain.

4. Tell me a little about the releases you have and where they are available for purchase?

So far the band has released two full-length albums, three Split releases, one EP and one Demo.

You can always find & order official BANE merchandise at ABYSS RECORDS, our record label.

5. Are you a touring band or are you a studio only band? If you are a touring band list some of your best shows so far, or if you are a studio only band explain why that is?

Uh, in the past couple of years we played so many shows...it's hard to pull out only a few. We toured so far in over 10 European Countries, and have shared stages with such bands as Malevolent Creation, Decapitated, Sodom, Inquisition, Root, etc...

6. Do you have any amusing stories from when you recorded your album or when you where on the road?

Not too good at talking about past stories...being on the road is something that cannot be explained in words, though. Need to really feel the intensity, pain and pleasure of it all.

7. Name some of the bands that have influenced your playing style and then name some of the bands that people think influenced you but didn't?

In general the Swedish bands from the mid 90`s inspired BANE's music the most, such as Dissection, Naglfar, Dark Funeral, etc...and as for the other part of the question, well I read at some places that they relate our sound to Dimmu Borgir or Cradle Of Filth for example, which is quite funny actually because I don't even like those bands, nor did I ever listen to them.

8. What are some of your all time favorite albums?

Uh, such a hard question...and by this I have to include the "Non-Metal" albums? Here are some of them:
Dissection - "The Somberlain" / "Storm of the Light's Bane" / "Reinkaos", Gorguts - "From Wisdom To Hate", Emperor - "Prometheus: The Discipline of Fire & Demise", Dark Funeral - "Diabolis Interium", Katatonia - "The Great Cold Distance", Paradise Lost - "Host", Cryptospy - "...And Then You'll Beg", Suffocation - "Pierced From Within", Pantera - "Far Beyond Driven", Forever Never - "Forever Never", Lacuna Coil - "Karmacode", Type O Negative - "Life Is Killing Me", Nickelback - "All The Right Reasons", Seether - "Disclaimer", SOiL - "Scars", Dallas Smith - "Jumped Right In", etc...

9. Name some of the all time worst or overated Metal albums in your opinion?

That is really not for me to judge...there are some bands and albums that I simply don't like, but does not mean it's not any good.

10. Let everyone know what the band has planned for the future.

Know as much as you do for now...we'll see, hopefully our 3rd full-length album will be released sometime in 2014.

HAIL CHAOS!
-Branislav / BANE

RADIATION SICKNESS (U.S.) "Reflections of a Psychotic Past" CD review by http://www.metalbite.com

Image

By JD

When a band returns from a rather lengthy hiatus, it can be a crap shoot to whether or not they can recapture what they had before. Indiana based Radiation Sickness is such a band. Thay took eighteen years off (due to many factors, including a founding members suicide) but now reformed to play once again.

Originally a Death Metal/Grind/Crossover act, Radiation Sickness now seems to be leaning more to a Crossover/Thrash act, as heard on this album that has new material along with an Ep from the 90's. Opting for more of a melodic path, it seems that Radiation Sickness has grown.

The older Grind/Death/Crossover stuff is pretty good in itself but seems not to stand out. It's the newer material they are making that seems to have a better spark to it. I was so impressed with 'Tripping In Seas Of Madness' (brutal thrash crossover with a nasty attitude), that it made me forget the older material. Heavy and gore filled to the max, this band has finally put all of the time and efforts together, and the now can begin their dominance on the puny bands that they look down at.

I loved the Death/Grind of their earlier work, but the newer music that they are now hammering out seems to be exactly where they have been striving to be. The band seems finally completely comfortable with themselves and what they are about, and able to exude the full magnitude of their talents. It is good to see when a band hits their stride, and is ready to dominate all who are in their way.

DEAD AWAKEN (Sweden) Interview by The Wizard of Noz

Image

By Noswal Nevik

1. Start off by introducing yourself and what is your role in your band?

My name is Jörgen Kristensen.

I'm the guitar player and vocaist of Dead Awaken.

Write all the lyrics and most of the music.

Also recorded the bass on the album.

2. According to your bio your band has been around since 2002 and you are about to release your debut album, what has been the most challenging part of keeping the band and yourself motivated all these years?

Yeah, time flies!

The motivation has always been how fun it is to play!

Still love playing live.

Quitting was never an option.

3. Tell me a little about the other members of the band? And do any of you play in other bands?

The only full time members are me and Mats Blückert, the drummer.

We have a couple of session bass players, who jump in when the're needed.

(Magnus Wall & Jonas Stålhammar, both are exremely talented). They are both are former bandmates of ours, from our first band, Abhoth.

Magnus also is the session bass player for GrandExit and various other projects.

Jonas main focus is Bombs of Hades.

Me and Mats focus mainly on Dead Awaken.

4. Tell me a little about the releases you have and where they are available for purchase?

So far, it's been demos only. Not available anymore.

5. Are you a touring band or are you a studio only band? If you are a touring band list some of your best shows so far, or if you are a studio only band explain why that is?

We've never really toured, so far.

We love playing live and hopefully the album will help out.

6. Do you have any amusing stories from when you recorded your album or when you where on the road?

Weird shit always happens. Deciding to part ways with our former bass player, Andreas, in the middle of the recording was interesting.

Crazy stuff always happened with him around. He constantly tripped on things. The rehearsal room wall(which was a sight, I can assure you.), other band members, etc.

7. Name some of the bands that have influenced your playing style and then name some of the bands that people think influenced you but didn't?

Me as a guitarist/vocaist?

There are tons of 'em. I love Devin Townsends playing, but I'm nowhere near him.

Kerry King, Trey Azagthtoth, Terrance Hobbs, Pat O'Brien, Tom G Warrior, Patrick Mameli.

For vocals, I've been compared to Ross Dolan of Immolation, which is flattering.

Jörgen Sandström of Torture division, formerly in Grave & Entombed is great.

Martin Van Drunen of Hail of bullets, formery Pestilence.

We never really were into the old, Swedish sound.

I realy like those bands, like Entombed. We just never tried to sound like them.

8. What are some of your all time favorite albums?

Dark Angel's Darkness Descends, Slayer', Reign in blood, of course.

Strapping young lad's City, Bolt thrower's For Victory, Celtic Frost's Monotheist,

Most of Devin Townsend's solo projects, Vomitory's Reveleation Nausea,

Pink Floyd's The wall.

9. Name some of the all time worst or overated Metal albums in your opinion?

Anything by Metallica, after And justice for all.

10. Let everyone know what the band has planned for the future.

Get out on the road and punish you ears! \m/

Thank you!

BANE (Serbia) "The Acausal Fire" DIGI CD review by Metal Bulletin

Image

By Metal Bulletin zine

Zine’s new issue is almost done; time running out, so, to the point: it would seem, that Bane loves the album “Storm of the Light’s Bane” by Dissection. Is Bane a baby Dissection? Oh, and how! Bane’s metal of death succeeds at warp speed blasting, and huge riffs that lift sleepy heads out of stupor and into motion. The strong dose of spiraling riffs, that re-work and rewind, frame songs as intense, as they are memorable and melodic. The blazing speed does allow the listener to see what Bane does, even hearing the acoustic or clean guitar parts, the guitar layers. One listen, bam!, hooked, for Dissection fanatics. http://www.baneband.com

The GATES OF SLUMBER (U.S.) Interview by The Wizard of Noz

Image

By Noswal Nevik

1. Start off by introducing yourself and what is your role in your band?

I'm Karl. I play guitar and sing.

2. You are about to release a new EP entitled "Stormcrow", what can fans expect from this release?

Yeah, it's a five song deal. We have a couple of really good songs on it I think. It's crunchy doom metal.

3. So you recently reissued your debut album "...the Awakening", what brought this on, was there a high demand for the album and what are the differences from the original press?

Well, copies of the record were going on EBay and what have you for some pretty silly money. It'd been out of print for a few years. Basically it's the same press as was out on Iron Kodex a few years back.

4. Tell me a little about the other members of the band? And do any of you play in other bands?

Bob, our drummer plays in Apostle of Solitude. Other than that it's me and Jason who plays bass.

5. Tell me a little about the other releases you have and where they are available for purchase?

We have like 6 albums out. And a few splits and what have you. I believe all of the CDs are in print still. Save for "Like a Plague Upon The Land".

6. Are you a touring band or are you a studio only band? If you are a touring band list some of your best shows so far, or if you are a studio only band explain why that is?

Yeah we are a touring band. Some of the highlights so far have been supporting Angel Witch in London. Damnation Fest. Playing The Troubador in LA. Both of our Appearances at Doom Shall Rise in Germany. Going to Finland, touring with Reverend Bizarre, Premonition 13, Church of Misrey, Orange Goblin, two European tours supporting Cathedral. Man. There have been too many cool shows to count.

7. Do you have any amusing stories from when you recorded your album or when you where on the road?

Man, again. So many stupid stories. One good one was in Madrid when we drank the whole rider up leaving Cathedral with no beer. That was funny. We made it up the next day by stocking the bus with booze.

8. Name some of the bands that have influenced your playing style and then name some of the bands that people think influenced you but didn't?

Saint Vitus, Black Sabbath, The Obsessed, etc. you know. I don't really know what to say to the other part of the question. Sorry

9. What are some of your all time favorite albums?

Saint Vitus's debut, Paranoid, The Obsessed's The Church Within. Pentagram's Be Forewarned. Lucifer's Friend's debut, the first Electric Wizard record. Warning's demos. Epicure by Candlemass. ... ... .

10. Name some of the all time worst or overated Metal albums in your opinion?

I'd rather not.

11. Let everyone know what the band has planned for the future.

We'll be playing SXSW again this year and then doing a tour of the east coast around the same time. Maybe some smler stuff. We'll also be doing Days of the Doomed in Wisconsin again this year and then into the studio for our next full length for Rise Above.

BANE (Serbia) "The Acausal Fire" DIGI CD review by Snooze Control

Image

By GothicBowie

We proceeded to the Black Metal path and handles back to an album that was already published last year. The originating from Serbia Bane imagined in 2012 a new album, The Fire Acausal . The group was formed in 2006 and released in the first instance some demos. From 2010, however, they began to be more active. This resulted not only in Parliament but also a first full length album Chaos, Darkness & Emptines d eze Acausal The Fire is their second and was released through Abyss Records Label. It is an album that typical atmosphere so typical of this style of music followed. Although their sound strong similarities to many other band in the genre they try to have a certain originality to the day to explain.

The slain dyed ingredients of Black Metal are sufficiently available. Take care including the cutting guitars, and deep screams that you send chills. The extra fine to Bane is they typical Black Metal influences finely interwoven with Death Metal feeling. Just that combine both styles adds value to this album. Although we often have a 'dime a dozen' feeling get when listening to this album, it really bothers at all. They stabbing perhaps not above any other group in the genre, but are a very fine addition to this.

For the global enthusiast's this Acausal Fire a pearl that would look nice in the record collection. Perhaps the most important is that Bane with their second disc simply meets the expectations of them asked. They made ??their way forward for a few years and let's see here that they are good at what they do. Very well. Because let's be honest, the genre will find besides a few flyers, also a few which are extremely deficient. They may not entirely belong to the first category, an almost impossible task, but in the middle fine, they are a strong representative. Therefore we find this trip through the Black Metal / Death Metal scene extremely successful and we encourage everyone to this band and album all chance, they deserve it just.
