We have the honor to sign the gloomy entity called OLD WITCH.
Deal is for one CD release and one vinyl release for the "Come Mourning Come" album.
The band's first full-length was released this year on limited tape, now it's time for CD and vinyl.
OLD WITCH is crushing but atmospheric doom metal shrouded by a dark veil of early 90s black metal feeling. The music of dead oak forests, the sound of chilling ghostly nights, OLD WITCH makes sublime ethereal art, but bringing the massive sound, making them a strange beast in the current underground.

"OLD WITCH has the chance to become a cult classic and would fit very good for a horror movie too. Funeral doom/black for those into dark twisted sounds."

"Old Witch have offered a very good result with their first full length album which achieves to drag inside the atmosphere and the feeling that it creates even someone who is not used to that kind of sound, as me. Surely what characterizes the album is the element of experimentation, something that makes him easy to accept to a limited group of people. However, those who will give it a chance, they will live a very weird but special experience. I can't suggest buying this album but only to the listeners who are searching for more experimenting releases."

Fantastic review for Sun & Moon and our newest release OLD WITCH in MetalReviews.com - 86 / 100
"Sun & Moon Records specializes in low-quantity, high-quality dark releases. I don't usually say much about the labels who give us these promos, but if Old Witch's debut, Come Mourning Come, is part of their master plan, it must be a hell of a good plan."

77/100

Canadian two man band Old Witch released ‘Come Mourning Come’ digitally via bandcamp in 2013. Halfway through November 2014 a physical release in the form of a digipack CD followed. That is the version in front of me. Old Witch plays nasty black doom with quite a bit of ambient in it. Think especially of a band such as Nortt when it comes to that. Besides fans of that band and band such as it Old Witch will also appeal to fans of Xasthur. Six songs in 36 minutes, so not too long to get boring. The duo manages to keep the music interesting by varying between the excruciatingly slow doom parts and the serene ambient parts but still managing to evoke a desolate ice cold atmosphere. This is mighty pleasant first acquaintance for me with Old Witch and makes me long for more of their music. - See more at: http://www.lordsofmetal.nl/en/reviews/v ... Xwc6N.dpuf

Rating: 87/100

Finally reaching a wider audience, today we have Old Witch and their chilling debut full-length “Come Mourning Come”, re-released on Sun & Moon Records. With 36 minutes of aural savagery, this American band manages to release a highly dissonant and punishing release that will appeal to all fans of the intersection between Black/ Doom Metal / Noise / Drone.

The album opens with the throbbing “Funeral Rain” and its thick droning sounds and hellish atmospheric keyboards. Like something straight out of the movie “Event Horizon”, this song sets a very sinister mood for the rest of the album. The band spares no expense and creates a truly bizarre and sickening atmosphere with “This Land Has Been Cursed” and “God ov Wolves”, expertly continuing their decadent musical spew through nearly the first half of this release.

Changing the mood a bit with the instrumental “Leaves Fall in Autumn”, we are treated to a bleak song that perfectly builds up the tension for the sickly catchy “The Frost and the Tyrant”. Here the tribal-esque drumming and the punishing riffs are perfectly accentuated by the hellish vocals and keyboard undertones. The bands punishing riffing once again captures your attention as it perfectly morphs under the drone elements that are incorporated.

Saving the best (and longest) track for last, “Olde Spyrits Haunt the Thickets”, takes its time to get into the listener’s psyche and perturb his thoughts. As a whole, “Come Mourning Come” showcases a very disturbing band that excels at creating highly atmospheric music that will rattle your soul. If you are looking for a Doomier version of Ash Borer, Old Witch is the band that will fill that void for you.

Band: OLD WITCH
Country: Canada
Title: Come Mourning Come
Label: Sun & Moon Records
Year: 2014
Style: Doom Drone Black Metal

Review:
Although initially released by the band in 2013, only 1 year after their foundation (although I feel this is and always was a one man project), this debut album of theirs sounds pretty promising and really, really interesting. Featuring 6 tracks but clocking 36 minutes of playing time, Come Mourning Come impresses through its heaviness, through its constant oppressive atmospheres from the main structures that are a mix of Drone Doom with Black Metal, to the Ambient fourth track, all of them evoke the same dark, depressive, introverted feelings. The interesting aspect when we talk about the compositions is the Drone element, the monolithis, intense, crushing and abrasive (but not annoying though) effects that compliment the whole heaviness of this album. Apart from that the demolishing bass lines, the low-tuned guitars and the desperate Black Metal shrieks (that I don't particularly like) are all contributing to a mysterious, terrifying final offering, an album that I find very interesting and feel will be a serious part of the Black Metal scene in Canada if it were to be written a book about it at a certain point. This version of it was re-released by Sun & Moon Records in 2014 and benefits of cover and back-cover images made by the label owner, Robert, which is pretty cool.
