The song is about a DragonLance story so I felt like is should have those 80s texas metal vocals in it for a little bit. I never tried to sing that way and kind of would rather just have the death metal vocals singing the whole time. Try to redo them or just ditch them all together ?

I thought they were pretty distracting and made the song feel sloppy when they were going on, so personally I'd take them out. Maybe it is something you just need to practice more with to get the sound you want out of it, but I think your gut is right and the song is better with just standard death metal vocals. If you have your own place to record and the time for it then you can give it a few more tries to be sure that it isn't an issue of needing to redo it.

I agree. both together makes it sound like a goddamn mess. just plain DM vocals is the way to go.

Things like that work sometimes, but I didn't feel they did in this case.

For the rest of the track (which seemed solid at first listen), the vocals were messy and kind of a let down. I'd go with the regular death metal vocals and possibly better mixing?

Yeahh that pretty much reassured me that I still don't like them and I ended up taking them out ha. Still have to redo the death vocals I think before the final mix, the ones on there are from the day I wrote the vocals.
