Okay, so ya know some of those bands where you get to a part of the song and then there's, like, a stutter (studder?) effect? That's the best way that I know how to describe it. "Djent" (yes, I hate that word just as much as you, but that's the best example that I could think of) use this effect a lot. My question is, does anybody know how to produce said effect? I record through Reaper as a DAW if that helps any.

Hopefully I made at least a small amount of sense haha

It's a kinda based on palm muting technique (or at least, is in most forms. examples include meshuggah, periphery, fell silent [I think. I barely know the genre]) but that particular sound is when you pick the chord you want and just as you pick it you mute it, you should get that chuggy "dj-ow" if you properly mute the strings you ought to get that "djent" sound. A better guitarist than me will probably tell you all this is wrong, and they are almost definitely correct, im extremely badly self taught. If they tell you how, go with their version.
